The service was very friendly, but the food was way below average and over priced. Nothing seems to be homemade, unless you like eating gordon foods i wouldn’t recommend it.

This is one of the better choices for the area. If you’ve ever been out here you know it’s pretty slim Pickens when it comes to dining options. Poppas is basically the local version of a Coney Island. I’ve eaten here a few times and it’s always pretty good especially when you compare it to the area. Seems to be one of the only non chain or franchise options are far as restaurants go in the area. I’m sure there are a few bar type places that have better food but I’m usually in the area on Tuesdays hanging with my daughter.

Like the women stated in the reviews that were not recommended– the food and service at this place is atrocious, and the establishment is down right filthy! I found a friggin dead fly in my omlet!!! Sadly they get business because there is nowhere else to go in Brooklyn…

The service was good and the food was excellent. The portions were large. Everything was fresh. Would return anytime.

Great comfort food for a great price. Lots of cool and clever stuff hanging on the walls. The place is very small and can get real crowded real quick. But overall a nice country diner!

Great breakfast place. Very much the small town country diner. Watch out for the flies and be prepared to wait. Cheap, popular and big portions. Love that they give you the option of how many eggs you want in your order. You get exactly what you want. The place is tiny, though.

Poppa’s has a very Good Friday fish fry — one of the best around the Brooklyn area. I always get the fried cod. It’s all you can eat, and comes with 2 sides. They have other good things on the menu, including homemade pies. They are always friendly too. It’s a small place, so sometimes there’s a line, but it’s worth the wait.

Poppa’s reminds me of places Up North. A solid menu, great soups and homemade pies. You can feed a family of 4 for under $ 30 and walk out stuffed. Great service and warm atmosphere as well!

This small country restaurant has good home style food. They also sell whole homemade pies. But it seems to me that their air conditioner is stuck on high, its always freezing in there.

Brooklyn doesn’t have many restaurants. For the few that it has, most are not very good. If you’re in Brooklyn, do yourself a favor and go to Poppa’s Place. Now, this place isn’t the classiest. I think it was converted into a restaurant from an old building and therefore the exterior looks a little strange. The interior is just plain tables and chairs, nothing fancy. However, the restaurant is clean and well taken care of. Poppa’s had a huge menu and they just updated it the other day. There are burgers, sandwiches, salads, breakfast and appetizers and down-home type cooking. There is a board with specials every day including a board dedicated only to the pies and desserts currently served. The portions of the food are large and are inexpensive. The food is good and well prepared. If you’re in the area and you’re looking for a place to eat I suggest you check it out.

The absolute, hands down, best, biggest and most delicious breakfast in Brooklyn. The servers are friendly and never let your cup of coffee get half empty. I’ve been there twice and both times the service and food blew my mind. This is definitely the secret Brooklyn residents don’t like to share. Before my fork could even dive into my chili and cheese omelet, I spent a good ten minutes admiring my buddy’s breakfast concoction Poppa’s Place calls the Hillbilly ‘Taters. It’s a blend of potatoes, cheese, green peppers, sausage and other breakfast related fare covered in a thick gravy. A half-order was still too much to finish in one sitting. And their omelets were just as big. Since I don’t carry a ruler on me because for one, that would be odd and two, my pockets aren’t deep enough, I had to measure the omelet via guesstimation. And I’m pretty sure it was like a foot long. I kid you not. To be frankly honest, Poppa’s Place breakfasts make your grandma look like a culinary failure. I don’t know if I can eat cereal anymore for breakfast after experiencing what I would consider the closest thing to breakfast food perfection. If you go to Poppa’s Place and don’t experience a foodgasm of the mouth than you probably have no taste buds. Here’s the gist: come to Poppa’s Place starving and by the time you’ll leave, you’ll feel like you won’t need to eat for a week.
