I’ve never found a hat that genuinely suited me but the very helpful guy at Pork Pie Hatters helped me find one and even suggested the right colour as well. I was visiting New York for a week and was recommended this place by another hat shop in the area — how helpful and co-operative are competing businesses in this part of the world?! Anyway, a great shop with excellent choice and service. Highly recommended.

Pork Pie hatters is unique because they offer stylish, quality hats, often for under $ 100. They are also unique in the innovations they offer including water repellency(for example: teflon-coated, water resistant straw hats) or elegant packability(for example: a straw hat made with twisted yarns to enable it to be more packable). And even when their competitors(such as Worth & Worth and Goorin Brothers) offer some similar styles, Pork Pie tends to have at least one version of each style that is cheaper. Pork Pie Hatters design and manufacture their own hats either in house or with innovative hat-makers. They can make you a custom/bespoke hat. They sell a nice edit of quality brands(including Borsalino and Akubra) as well. The employees are passionate about hats, and can help you with any maintenance issues.

i drove by the store on my way to lunch with my cousin this afternoon and it was closed at the time but on our way home we passed it again and that time it was open so we went to check the place out! the two gentle men were so welcoming, funny, patient, knowledgeable, and honest. one was the owner and the other a salesman. im very curious about a lot of things and i dont mind asking A LOT of questions! they were so fun to talk to and were able to converse on a personal level. which is very important in sales. we spoke about things from the proper way to put a hat on and take it off to how the salesman there got his job with the hat shop! they are truly great at what they do. they were able to look at us for a few seconds and know which hat suited our faces and heads. their hats are all hand made and you can get custom hats as well! Loved them. i highly recommend them to anyone who is new to wearing hats and to those who are hat enthusiasts

After walking around on the North side to escape Cabin Fever(from lack of transportation and gas thanks to Hurricane Sandy), we took a detour on Metropolitan and found ourselves directly in front of Pork Pie Hatters. The boy has been talking about getting a fedora for months now and when seeing this store FILLED with Pork Pies, Fedoras, News Boys and the like, his eyes lit up and he walked in the store. My little beagle was welcomed into the store, which was a nice treat as it was cold outside. The gentlemen running the store were patient and very knowledgable about their product. They took their time with us and allowed the boy to try on what he liked. When he found the one, he purchased it. $ 70 for a beautiful brown fedora. If he ever needed the hat cleaned, the staff at Pork Pie Hatters said to bring it back to the store! They sent us along our merry way with a brand new hat in tow. I am already planning a trip back to Pork Pie Hatters for a nifty hat this winter!
