One of the best Mocha’s I have had. Iced or hot. Also nice espresso and I love the color scheme!

When I first moved to Greenpoint, I absolutely loved this place… They used to make great coffee. My experience with propeller has been so toxic, I don’t even want to be associated leaving them a review on Unilocal. However, I wish someone had warned me to stay away from this place. Everyone has bad days so I was hoping my experience with Propeller was just a weird misunderstanding. Apparently, it wasn’t. Five of my friends have also had horrendous experiences here. You can find some of their reviews on Unilocal. I’m sad to see that I’m not alone in having a horrible experience with propeller. Fortunately, I don’t think they’ll be in business much longer. Their coffee used to be phenomenal, but seriously went down hill as they hired more and more people who either don’t know how or don’t care about making good coffee. Stay away. There are so many better options around. And if there weren’t, I can’t believe I’m saying this… But you’d be SO better off going to Starbucks.

Very cute and a comfy place to chill. Iced chai was good, didn’t taste like it came from a carton, which drives me loco. Chocolate croissant was top notch. Friendly service, which can be rare in hipster establishments.

The menu is trying to hit the trends of the day i.e. flat whites and long black. The cortado was very milky, poured to the brim of an 8oz cup like a cappuccino. The drip is decent.

Hands down my favorite place to do work in the neighborhood. Would have never survived my post grad job search without posting up here for like four hours a day. Great coffee, great décor and vibe, friendly staff and best granola bars ever.

Great coffee. Great work spot. [UPDATE: Outlets covered. Come with your laptop fully charged] The coffee and the pastries are delightful. Standard coffee drinks available, plus they do a flat white, which is kind of like a latte or cappuccino, but the milk is… frothier? Whatever it is it’s nice. Coffee $ 2; Americano $ 3; Flat white $ 3.50; Cold brew $ 3.50; Latte $ 4.50; A few nice teas, but none are decaffeinated. Free wifi, no password needed. The music selection isn’t annoying, and there’s ample space and outlets to set up your laptop for the afternoon. There’s even a large desk in the back if you have a big project and want to spread out. It gets cold in the winter up front with all the people coming in and out. AC in the summer.

The people that work here are super down to earth and really care about the quality of the coffee. To the guy who asked about the cold brew and gave propeller 1 star the cold brew method they do creates a concentrate and than needs to be diluted with water so it’s not to strong.

Icing down americanos into watery coffee is not«cold brew.» Cold brew is a specific extraction method, not a gimmicky name. Is that what they do here? Can’t say for certain but it sure tastes like it. Very disappointing.

I found hair in my coffee and it was not mine. Also the bathroom smelled like fish? The coffee was fine but certainly nothing to write home about. The manager/owner was incredibly rude and asked a guy to leave because he was working on his laptop and hadn’t bought a coffee yet or something. All in all not a happy/nice place.

Very good propeller coffee — I had the cold brew with almond milk. Jeff had a mocha and said it was good. He likes this spot a lot. NPR crowd of earnests in cashmere cardigans tapping silently away. Service very helpful indeed. Thank you.

After about a year of near daily frequenting of this coffeeshop, I’ve finally decided to TELLTHEWORLDHOWAWESOMEITIS. It is a big step for me. I have not wanted to let the world know about the wonderful coffee, the awesome baristas, the free New York Times, and the plethora of work space. Giving this up would mean that there is a much larger chance that I would not get a table. Let’s follow the other reviewers: first, let’s talk about the coffee. Never have I ever(played that game have you) had a bad coffee here. The biggest complaint I can muster is that their coffee is so good that I have to drink it black rather than with my normal bit o’ cream. Their espresso does not disappoint and their macchiatos, cortados, and double espressos are some of my greatest indulgences. Okay, let’s talk atmosphere. I wrote my dissertation in this wonderful coffee shop. There are plenty of plugs, great wifi, large tables, and kick-ass music. If you are looking for a place to hang and get work done, this is the place for you. Working from home? Need a place to write? Seriously, this place is for you. The baristas top anything you could ever wish for in a barista. They aren’t fake friendly, they are real friendly. They will tell you when something is wack and they are right at least 100% of the time. By far, they are the only faces I want to see when I am in «must have coffee» mode in the morning. Can’t say enough good things about this place!

So today I went in for the first time since writing my initial bad review. I wouldn’t have gone there if my friend wasn’t working behind the bar, one of the nice baristas. I hadn’t seen her in several months and wanted to say hi and catch up as I waited on another friend of mine. So I ordered a tea, took off my coat and started to settle in and as I was putting honey in my tea in the back, I heard someone from behind me ask if I was Angela. I said yes and turned to find that the owner and her friend had cornered me. They asked if I left a negative Unilocal review and I said yes, that I did several months back because I got poor service. They were quite irate from the moment they called my name and then they said to take down the negative review or leave. I responded that it’s my right as a consumer to leave a bad review when I have recieved bad service. Then they said I was trying to ruin their business and threatened to call the cops on me. They were making a huge scene at this point. I told them I would leave, but that I thought this was very poor business practice. I said a good business would apologize to me for having recieved bad service, ask how to rectify it, then ask that I kindly update my previous review. Then they said I was disruptive when I went in there and that all the baristas complained about me. Which is utterly untrue or they would have asked me to leave long ago. Then they said I always returned drinks, yet I have never once returned a drink, but a friend of mine ONCE did. They clearly didn’t have their story straight and were just being irate and irrational. A business shouldn’t be allowed to do this to anyone, much less a paying customer. I did leave, but promptly walked back in to return the tea I bought and ask for a refund and the one larger woman said she would give me a refund but that if I «ever step foot in there again» she would call the cops. I was quite level headed throughout this whole situation because I was in such shock that this was happening. I still really can’t believe it. I heard stories about them kicking other people out for leaving bad review, but I didn’t believe it until now.

This is my coffee shop. They make excellent lattes and I am a huge fan of the drip coffee. They use Parlor Coffee. I decided to buy a Chemex coffeemaker. The price here for a Chemex + 100 circle filters was almost $ 20 cheaper than if I bought on Amazon(~$ 48 for both here, versus $ 67 on Amazon). So, I support my local coffee shop, and I save money? Sign me up. I will still buy my beans here, as I have become a fan of Parlor.

50’s throwback coffee house. It’s got this great faded and minimalistic retro feel that brings you squarely into their coffee — which is roasted in Brooklyn by Parlor Coffee. I enjoy gentle and subtle nutty flavors, so we got a cup of their latte. The amazing thing is that foam — it just sits 15% of the cup which for me is heaven. That lightness punctuated by warm nutty flavor. Not too busy. kinda just perfect for a cold day in Greenpoint/Williamsburg.

This little spot is even cuter on the inside than the outside! I was wooed by the gold mid century modern logo, and then loved the décor and lighting inside. The barista(a woman with an accent who said«take away» instead of «to go», which reminds me of living in Australia and makes me so happy… anyways…) was the nicest human I have encountered in a long time. After coming from lunch with a server with plenty of sass, it was a welcome change. I got a lovely cappuccino — they roast Parlor beans, which was something I had never had before. People were studying and doing work inside, and if I lived here, I would probably do the same. It’s a quality spot.

Love Propeller for many reasons: 1) you can always grab a seat. For some magical reason they always have a prime seat available whenever I walk in. 2) the baristas are excruciatingly friendly. They always offer up a smile which is very welcoming when stopping in for a cup of joe before starting another busy day at the office(or jumping on that God awful G train) 3) it’s super clean. Not sure how they manage it but so many coffee shops fall victim to ickiness as a result of people squatting all day long(ahem Starbucks). 4) their coffee is DELICIOUS! Knocked off a star for some very important reasons: they’re cash only and because jeez they close at 7pm! This is a problem I have with many Greenpoint coffee shops. Sometimes my husband and I like to grab a cup of coffee at the end of the night and nothing tends to be open. If they stayed open just a few extra hours we would probably just move in!

This happened a few months ago but I still feel compelled to inform my fellow Unilocalers. There’s one barista there who hates her life. I came in and asked for an iced coffee black without too much ice. A reasonable request and one which I am even prepared to pay more money for based on experiences at other coffee spots in BK. Not only did she fill it mostly with ice and not top it off, but when I asked for a top off the barista simply ADDEDMOREICE!!! On top of all of that she gave me the stare down of death. 0 stars for customer service and even though I live in the neighborhood I have never and will never go back. Too many other good coffee spots around to waste my time with these goons.
