Was very excited to try this service. They offer weekly meal subscriptions called Chef’s Meals, but you can also order it once and call it a day. There’s the whole food detox– with options of 1,3,5 days and you get 3 meals, one broth, and one tea; the juice/food cleanse with 3 or 5 day options — you get 4 juices, one vegan meal, and one vegetable broth per day of the cleanse. Every snack, side, entrée can be purchased on it’s own on the a la carte menu. Of course, it would be pricier. The menu changes every week. You can select which protein item you want per your delivery day — say you order a Chef’s Meal box you get two entrees Monday and Wednesday(those are their delivery days), and you can do two vegans, or two poultry/meat, or rotate however you like. You get the option of snacks/sides in each delivery, and can pick either the Kale salad, soup of the week, or their side dish. You also get their muffins of the week on the Monday delivery. In this program, plenty of whole foods here — you get nuts, good fats, grass-fed and pasture raised proteins, olive/coconut oils, and everything is gluten free. Some of my meal favs: Turkey mushroom burger with roasted potato/root vegetables– Flavorful and juicy, but unable to discern any mushrooms in there. Chocolate spiced rub flank steak with cauliflower/potato mashed– I requested medium rare and both delivery days the steak was ridiculously tender. You could easily tear it apart with your teeth. Cauliflower mashed was smooth/creamy the first delivery, but the second time I noticed they didn’t purée properly as I had a huge hard chunk of potato stuck in there. Kale Cesar salad with herb croutons– Delicious dressing. Could definitely taste the hints of garlic and mustard! Fresh greens. Banana cacao muffins — Didn’t like the texture and it too easily fell apart. I also wish I tasted more bananas in there as well as nibs, so I’m not eating mainly muffin. That’s my personal preference though. Delivery was prompt within the designated time frame you choose at checkout. The first time I ordered I chose between 8AM-10AM, and another time it was between 10AM-12PM. Both times the food was there as promised, and they also send you an email saying that the food had been delivered. However, there was some inconsistency in delivery method, as well as packaging(both the food and the delivery packing) which was weird. First time, they delivered a bag to my door, paper bag with their logo, and the presentation was nice. Made me happy to receive it. The next two times they came by, they left the box near my front gate/around my plant. I can’t understand why the delivery guy couldn’t go a couple more feet and put it near the front door on the stoop. And those times it came in a cardboard box. It’s not a big deal, but it’s the little details that make a difference. We pay a lot for the service, sometimes it’s nice if they bring it to the front door. Come on, even UPS or USPS leaves things at the front door, not anywhere else. It is possible for people to walk by in NYC and snatch a package that they see in sight. With their food packaging, the first time it was laid out beautifully, the flank steak slices arranged neatly in a row — again presentation matters! The second time, it was tossed in, the slices tangles and sloppily placed on top of one another. Overall, very solid food!
