Pure Essentials

This has to be my FAVORITE store in park slope. Where do I begin? First of all, the girls that work in the store greet you with such a welcoming ‘hello!’. They best part is… they actually smile and acknowledge you :) Love that!
Second… the owner Al, so nice. He knows me and my kids by name! He always treats them with a free piece of candy on their birthdays or when they get a good grade in school. So sweet my kids sometimes even drag me in there for their stuffed toy selection.
This store has everything one needs. From children’s products (FairyTale products too!!) to Deva Curl! And their prices are so fair compared to some rip off places. Their name says it all. PURE ESSENTIALS. You can literally get your everyday essentials here. I love it. A
My kids go to school right across the street and its so convenient open evening and weekends, they even stay a little later if you let them know you’re gonna be a few minutes after their closing time, its really never a problem for them, i’ve done it before myself.
Oh! AND theres a pharmacy with a great staff too! you can do all your shopping there at once. IN and OUT (seriously, no lines… EVER)
Again, my favorite store in the Slope. go Go GO! Great store!

Beautiful store that has a big selection of products. Ranging from high end to drugstore brand there is so much to choose from. If you do not see something out everyone in the store is accommodating to see if they can at least get a product in. I’ve never had a problem. They also do UPS drop off and pick up which is amazing now I don’t have to wait at home all day for my packages.

I come there everyday for my kids or myself! Pure Essentials has everything that I could possibly wish for! And I am French and love the fact that I can find those gorgeous products!
My kids love the toys from beanie babies and I must admit that these keep them so happy and calm while I shop!
The staff is so sweet and kind with me and my kids! I feel like this is really one of my favorite neighborhood hangout!
And they got this new great website that has a ton of coupons for their lines of products all the time as well as some professionals who come to talk about their products! They have it all online on their interactive calendar!
Strongly recommend! So much nicer experience than Rite Aid where no one recognizes you!

I’m not sure if the owner/​employees here are illiterate or just lazy. Is there a way to notify UPS that this location should be removed as one of their pick up locations? I went there this afternoon to pick up two boxes that were delivered. After a very quick perusal from the owner he told me the boxes were not there. I double checked both deliveries and they confirmed they were delivered to this location Friday. A young woman came out and after I told her the name again found one of my boxes but assured me my other delivery was not there.
Triple checking my UPS tracking it said it was delivered on Friday at 12:24. Both individuals not only assured me that UPS was wrong, but seemed to get offended i thought otherwise and they didn’t have it. Seeing as I walked all the way to this location, in snow mid day I wasn’t going to leave with out my package.
A quick walk down their package aisle and I located it. NOT THAT HARD. In fact the package was QUITE LARGE. It wouldn’t have been that big of a deal if they weren’t both so incessant they didn’t have the packages. They clearly did not look and didn’t care to even attempt to help me. I’ll for sure be looking in to reporting this to UPS as well. Just be careful if you’re going to pick up a package, walk the aisle, check yourself.

I had a really good experience here with the guy who is maybe manager or owner. He had a true sense of cool and stepped in without any drama and gave me an unexpected discount after the very sweet register assistant had made an honest mistake with my purchase of 20 mins before. No bullshit. So refreshing.

I would love to give this place more stars but unfortunately I cannot. I usually come in on Sunday mornings right when they open most of the time the guy working there barely says hello or has his head in a box putting products out I assume. The biggest turnoff however is some of the normal items I purchase on the regular seem extremely over priced, a small Advil for 10.99?! Idk if this is a mistake or an oversight but I’ve noticed it a few times I’ve been in, even though rite aid doesn’t have the mom and pop feel the prices are lower.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I first came to the store because they sold Jane Carter Solution, a hair product line that was difficult to find in stores (until recently). I also found a selection of seamless combs, another item difficult to find in stores. The employees are friendly and helpful, and they offer a wide selection of quality, often natural, sometimes organic health and beauty products. And their prices are reasonable!

This is one of my favorite stores in Park Slope. Yes, one of my favorite stores is a drug store. As far as I’m concerned, there are two parts to this review:
The drugstore part: They have tons of organic health and beauty products. Usually, a store has one brand of organic stuff that is free of certain chemicals, which is what I always try to buy. Pure Essentials has TONS of options of tons of different brands – amazing. Further, the people who work there are very friendly and helpful. I believe it’s the owner who is there all the time who directs people to what they’re looking for, makes recommendations, and finds out what customers want in the store. I do all of my shopping here for self care stuff as well as cleaning supplies.
The pharmacy part: There is a Modern Chemist pharmacy in the back, and Carlos is one of the nicest, most helpful people I’ve ever met. I’m from Michigan, and Carlos spent weeks dealing with my insurance company to try to get everything squared away. In the meantime, he gave me my prescriptions for free so that I wouldn’t go without or have to try another pharmacy. When my insurance finally went through, I paid him for my backlogged months. Beyond this amazing response to my debacle, Carlos remembers my name, asks me about school and work, knows what I need when I go in, and was so sweet when I went in with a sinus infection and a prescription for a Z-​Pack – giving me recommendations for additional things that would make me feel better faster.
The two together? The best store ever.
