Radegast Hall One of the best beer gardens anywhere… Period. Excellent beer selection, yummy food and like a billion sq feet so you can bring all your friends and all their friends. PROTIP: Pauwel Kwak in the official glass

We’ve been in Williamsburg for a few days for a wedding and found this place on our first walk around. Stayed for a couple of hours and loved it! Super authentic Bavarian beer hall with great food. Feels like a journey to Europe and a great place to watch Copa América on the big screen just like we did in the Old Town Square in Prague.

Radegast is a great beer garden to meet friends at for a few drinks in Williamsburg. The bar staff is quick and attentive. They have about a dozen drafts at the main bar and some more options in the rear area. I like the variety of the draft list. The beers are kept at the perfect temperature. On the weekends, there is a band performing. They also have a drop down projection screen for soccer games and other festivities.

My boyfriend is still paying thousands of dollars in medical bills from a waiter spilling piping hot beer cheese dip on his hand. This incident took place in September of 2015 and we are still receiving additional medical bills to cover the cost of his treatment. With my boyfriends skin melted and bubbling on his hand, we had asked to speak to a manager to get help. The manager looked shocked at the sight of my boyfriends hand and recommended we get him to a hospital as soon as possible. We had to run out and hail a cab that we spotted coming down Berry St as we knew it’d take longer for an ambulance to arrive. The manager followed us out to the cab with the $ 20 tab for our table and requested payment. Upon returning with our payment receipt, the manager simply wished us both a good night. My boyfriend suffered severe second degree burns [doctor said bordering on third degree] with limited mobility on his right hand for over a month. I’ve written several reviews [usually each time we receive yet another medical bill] that are always declined. I’m all for supporting good people running a good business-and I rarely ever write bad reviews [this is the second-the first was a food poisoning incident of a close friend of mine]. If Radegast would’ve apologized and offered to pay my the medical expenses my boyfriend incurred caused by an employee at Radegast, I would continue to support them. Accidents happen. It’s the way in which this accident was dealt with that I feel should be forewarned to all future customers considering supporting this establishment.

Food: 7⁄10 We had the fresh sausage from the grill and I had a Kostritzer Schwartzbier. We got the bratwurst, currywurst, and a kielbasa. The Kielbasa and bratwursts were good, but tasted as you’d expect from a decent sausage. The Currywurst though, was amazing. The sausage’s seasoning was just the right amount, that when you paired it with any of their different mustards, it still managed to shine through unless you were drinking the mustard. I had the Kostritzer Schwartzbier and as a fan of dark beers, this one is really hit the spot. The bitter wasn’t overpowering and infact, there’s a bit of sweet in it. Definitely one of my favorite beers here. Service: 6⁄10 We went on a Friday and it wasn’t overly packed, but there was a good amount of people. The service was a little slow and when we wanted to find our server, sometimes, she was just no where to be found. However, after we started drinking, you don’t really notice that and she was there when we needed something. Overall: 7⁄10 Additional Notes: This is a good place for a chill weekend(when you don’t want to head out to the city and want to just hang out with friends. They have a grill, fresh grilling sausages in front of you, a ton of beers and live music. I’d definitely come back in the future.

I have been to this spot a few times, my girlfriend and i always have a good time, the sausage sampler is delicious it is served with home made sourkraut and French fries. They have a large selection of beer to choose from and the ambient and music is always good. Cool spot for a bite and a drink.

Fun beer garden in the area. We stopped by for some day drinks on a Thursday afternoon. While I can’t tell you what it’s like on nights and weekends, we had an enjoyable day sitting in the outdoor tent. What a refreshing beverage on a hot summer day! Pluses: — Great selection of beers — A very helpful server who helped up pick a beer dependent on your tastes/preferences — We didn’t order food, but it looked like they had a wide selection. The pretzels are huge! Minuses: — The bathrooms are in a poorly lit, kind of sketchy alleyway in the back

I love the food, drinks, atmosphere of this place. It’s fun and delicious. However, I had my 30th birthday party here and guests of mine were turned away at the door because they had babies. I’ve never heard of that before. The bouncer was out of control with a power trip. One of my friends got me a present, a wrapped in gift paper, bottle of whiskey in a gift bag. He wanted her to throw it out? Have you ever heard of a birthday party? Then we brought cupcakes in and they wanted us to pay them for bringing in our dessert. Meanwhile, everyone was there having their birthday parties… with cakes. All bars have this and no one cares. We all bought lots of food and drinks, its not like we weren’t buying their food and drinks. We had to pay them $ 2 per person for the cupcakes? Not really sure why. All of these rules and the bitchy waitress, kind of ruined the experience. It’s great place to have lunch, but not if you want to have a fun birthday. The staff there needs to chill the hell out.

This was the first place I went to when I landed in New York. I was in Germany last October and have been craving German sausages, but there weren’t many German places around the part of the Bay Area I live at so of course I wanted to hit up the biergartens out here. For appetizers and beer you order it from the restaurant from the waiter. We tried the steak tartare($ 15) and the bone marrow($ 12). The bone marrow comes w/4 pieces, should def try it and it’s so cheap! The steak tartare I thought lacked some flavor(maybe needed a little salt), but they have maggi(soy) sauce and grain mustard for you to add(don’t add too much maggi sauce). For sausages, you order it yourself at the grill. We tried the trio; selected the curry wurst, kielbasa, and Argentinian sausage which was served over arugula and a huge side of sauerkraut. All of the sausages were good, but I would’ve wanted a regular bratwurst instead of curry wurst(but my sister was craving curry wurst). The sausages were a little pricy, and I wish that it also came with fries but oh well(you can order individual sausages w/fries for $ 11). I love the biergarten and it was filled with lots of people, reminded me of being in Germany for sure. Would def recommend it.

Went there on a nice sunny Saturday afternoon fully intending to enjoy some beers. We only made it as far as the entrance before coming across an aggressive middle aged bouncer. As soon as we approached the entrance he started yelling at us to open our bags, then he assumed that I didn’t have my ID so he yelled some more and told us that we couldn’t come in(even though we did). I turned and told my husband that I would rather not go in at all at that point. I guess we will never know if this beer garden is any good, but it’s not worth having to deal with such an unprofessional individual. This is a beer garden after all, not some Manhattan night club.

Love the way the place looks. It actually reminds me of this one place I ate at in Germany. FYI, it’s 2 restaurants in one building. You can order food from the table or order at the grill. Both are really good. Ordered the bone marrow, steak tartar, & the sausage platter(currywurst, Argentinian, & kielbasa). All oh so freaking bomb. The currywurst had a strong taste to it. Definitely did not taste like the one I had in Germany but still pretty interesting.

Not gonna lie, one of the best beer gardens i’ve been to. Went on a Saturday night so the place was packed but we managed to score seats for 4. Wasn’t sure if there was table service or if we ordered at the bar. A server came by quickly. Despite a packed house, she was pretty good throughout the night – friendly and attentive. The busers were also really good. We ordered up some beers and placed some food. –bone marrow: pretty bomb! the portion and price make this a must order! I thought it would only be 2 pieces so we ordered 2 orders. Turns out, it comes with 4! So we each got 2 pieces. –kielbasa(by the grill) — this was ok. we were starving so this was the easiest/fastest order. It comes fries too but they were just average. –mussels: these were awesome too. the sauce was nice and the size of the mussels were large. –fries were awesome from the beer garden side(not the grill). –lamb ribs: these were delicious but the portion was tiny for the price. My friend did say it was a bit gamy but i thought it tasted like what lamb is suppose to taste like. –pretzel: we were kinda full but felt we needed to try some authentic german bar food. I assumed it was just store bought and reheated, but these were made baked fresh. It was pretty delicious too! Everyone enjoyed their beers. The place is kinda loud, but it is a beer hall after all. Overall, great place for dinner and drinks.

Beer and food, beer and food. Walking into Radegast I always feel a little mightier, ready to down large portions of meat and giant liters of beer. The establishment is separated into two sections: the bar area, and the grill/eating area. Very spacious seating, and friendly customers at all times of day. Unless it’s a sunny Saturday afternoon– rush hour subway packed + beers = finding a different bar. Live bands will occasionally play that liven up the ambience and make me want to dance. Maybe need a few beers in me first. Speaking of beers, they serve drinks in GIANT ½ liter and liter sized mugs. Making me feel all the more mightier. I’ve ordered the Portobello Sandwich from the grill(separate from entrée menu). The cook immediately started to grill and concoct the most amazing sandwich and crispy golden fries. My only qualm was they give a huge freaking slab of goat cheese. It’s almost as thick as your hand! While melted gooey cheese is delicious… whew, I had to scrape some of it off, it was SO much. Recommended for large groups looking for a relaxing afternoon!

Love the atmosphere here! A friend took me here on a Saturday afternoon and I was astonished that there was so much action here! This place is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge beer hall with tons of picnic tables, fireplaces — great for groups. You can also order traditional German food. okay maybe not traditional but think pretzels, bratwurst, etc and HuUUGE steins of beer! I loved it! Also, there was a New Orleans type of band playing very loudly and marching through the bar, which I loved. Definitely recommend coming here for a rowdy out with friends.

We spent a lazy saturday afternoon(~4+ hours) at radegast and had a great time. There were two live bands during the span of our time there — and they were great musicians. The first band was a new orleans style and and the second was more contemporary folksy music. Of course, the place was über crowded with millenials and a few older folks here and there, but we were able to grab a table for our group of 9 after about 40 minutes. I did not have anything to drink or eat so I can’t comment on the quality of food, but in the early afternoon it looked like every single person was only getting pretzels, so I think that was the only option available. Later on in the evening there was a menu that you could order more varied dishes from. The service was okay. When we first got there(when it was the most crowded) we didn’t see our server, so a few of the folks from our group ended up going to the bar to get their drinks. When the server finally showed up, she scolded the a little bit for ordering at the bar, which was unnecessary.

Visit Date: February 27, 2016 Hubby and I came here for his friend’s 40th birthday party! What an amazing place this beer garden is! Some of my fellow pregnant women might crucify me if they found this out but I decided to enjoy a NONALCOHOLIC beer. If I come here again and am not pregnant or breast feeding I’ll drink some real beer. They did have a good non alcoholic beer, a German brand that begins with a C which I’ve had before and liked. The food was amazing. We had the pretzel, I had the mushroom frittatta which also came with truffle fries and hubby ate some sausage which he said was pretty damn good. The atmosphere and experience were A ++++++. Sitting amongst a ton of people on community benches in the enclosed beer garden with the winter sunlight streaming in was an experience I won’t forget soon. Near the end of our visit they had some live music which was a lot of fun. Sometimes I don’t like live music if it’s too loud but they had a few guys who had gotten together play songs on their brass instruments and it was just really amazing to see something so unique. The audience and the band was having a great time! I love this place and if I have a chance to be here again it will be great!

This place is really spacious and really comfortable. It also has great beer. We got the beer that has coffee in it and it was delicious ! I would definitely recommend a pitcher. My one problem was the staff. The lady that was waiting on our table did not bother to ask us how we were doing or introduce herself. I felt like we were wasting her time. Additionally, other staff generally came across as cold and did not really want to help. Yes I would come back, just because the space is really fun and the beer is good; but I’ll know what to expect when it comes to service.

I love this beergarden since it is located in my fav spot in Brooklyn. The beergarden was transformed by a old factory warehouse. Inside the restaurant you will sense their antique history. This beergarden has been famous for a long time. Price was affordable. We had beef tartar, which was fresh, with soy sauce and mustard. Then we had four different German sausages, very nice.

This review is mostly about how amazing the brunch is at Radegast. I have been here a ton and it is by far my favorite spot for brunch in Williamsburg. Come on a Saturday or Sunday morning and the place will be almost unrecognizable from its late night counterpart. The huge beer hall tables will be nearly empty for your choosing and there is a good chance there will be families with strollers and a toddler or two running around. The food is to die for. I start this with the disclaimer that I haven’t tried five leaves or some of the other hot spots but I haven’t felt the need to! Radegast keeps me coming back! Everything I have had been amazing– from pancakes to poached eggs. Other than that radegast is a fun place. It can get rowdy and packed at other times, but it’s a good place for people who like people and they have live music pretty much all the time so that’s cool.

So in my quest to have a great soft pretzel, Radegast was the perfect place to go. Not only was their pretzel huge, soft and perfectly crusted, but it was perfectly warm. Combine that with mustard and house made beer cheese and really, could you ask for anything more? Well, yes, good beer, and that they have down pat. Also ordered the bone marrow and that is a steal! For $ 12 you get 5 bones(well halved bones), toast and the grilled onions. Delectable. Get this!

I flipping love this place. The space itself its extremely well put together and feels like you’ve just stepped into a portal to another place. Their service is pretty good. They have an incredible beer selection, obviously. It is great for going with groups and trying new beers. The burger I had there was HANDSDOWN the best burger I have ever had in my life. This is not an exaggeration. It was prepared on the spot right in front of me and tasted divine. Their food menu is pretty limited, but the choices they do have will not disappoint. I was there for the first time in May and we sat in the«open air» outdoor space that had almost like a greenhouse effect to it, with glass windows overhead and open. In this space, they have huge picnic tables with benches. It had a great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend.

Pretty okay place. Definitely huge and has a sweet outdoor space. The environment and ambience inside is cool. Definitely a good place for a party or meeting up with a bunch of friends. However, it gets super crowded and the service definitely suffers during the busy times. Bartenders are pretty annoyed at you asking for a glass of water(with your drink or just as is), despite you trying to drink responsibly and not be a drunk lunatic all around their bar. Prices are high, but you are paying for the quality beer. There are so many to choose from and you are definitely going to try some stuff you won’t be able to try anywhere else in Brooklyn. The live music in the main room can be really loud and not what you’re trying to listen to if you are meeting up with friends and looking to chat, but it’s definitely somewhere I would recommend checking out. Kind of a novelty place in Williamsburg.

A large area, but loud and crowded. You should be able to find a nook to settle down into. The beer here is great, and I appreciated the bartender served our beers and also gave us a mug of water each also. I hate when places only give you your drink and not water. The three of us split one of their massive pretzel appetizers since we saw so many people ordering it around us. The pretzel itself was HUGE, but lacked the salt in many of the areas. I would not have minded if it was flavorful, but the dough itself was bland. The beer cheese sauce they gave you was OK. Friendly atmosphere and staff.

Radegast Bierhall is def one of the coolest spots in perhaps the coolest neighborhood in New York — Williamsburg. It has a charm that few beer halls in America have. The Emperor of Austria — Franz Josef — keeps watch over the entrance door on Bedford Avenue. But don’t worry … he’s not a bouncer — you’ll get in! This Austro-Bohemian setting is perfect for a chill afternoon or evening with friends. Fortunately it is also close to the L subway line so getting back to where you need to get to is not much of a problem. What could make it better? That’s easy in my opinion — more Austrian foods, more Austrian wines, and serve some Austrian beers. C’mon guyz — the Emperor Franz Josef is watching you!

Had an amazing time here today(Saturday). I recommend getting here early other wise you won’t get a good seat. We placed our order for liter beers and had to wait a while. Our waiter came over and apologized for the wait so we didn’t mind. We snacked on pretzels and ordered food from the grill in the back. The bratwurst and pork sandwich were both really good. Around 4pm, the band came out and they were amazing. It was mostly a brass band with 2 drummers. They really got the crowd going and were really good. Can’t wait to come here again

Great spot in the heart of Williamsburg. Came on October 1st at the beginning of Oktoberfest festivities with my whole team– easily a group of 30 of us. We came midday so it was pretty empty but there were plenty of staff to take orders for food and drinks. As I don’t eat pork I had the chicken and merguez sausages. Both were amazing with a generous side of sauerkraut and French fries. We ordered sweet potato fries on the side but the regular French fries were amazing. Drink selection was huge and had something for everyone. At one point it started raining in the beer hall and they were quick to cover the open roof. We also probably hung out for a good 5 – 6 hours and there was no rush to push us out. Will definitely drop by again when a large group is in town as it’s the perfect venue to take advantage of what Williamsburg has to offer and have some great food and drinks.

Radegast Hall and Biergarten has to be one of my favorites beer gardens around the city. I haven’t tried all of them yet, of course, but I have returned here on several occasions. Their location is key here, because they have captured this sweet spot in the middle of Williamsburg surrounded by music venues and great restaurants and bars. I love coming here for the people, the staff are helpful and very friendly, they make me believe they truly enjoy working here. I always meet people from all over the world when I’m here, and I always love bringing friends and family to experience it for themselves. The noise level is of course intense and very loud, but you can’t expect anything else from a beer garden. They have great live bands performing all the time, and the room is filled with enthusiasm. The only concern I have it about the two separate halls they have. One time there wasn’t any room by the bar for one performance. We could hear the music being played, but we never got a chance to see the performance. But this truly is a minor issue as I understand you got to come early to save a table if you want to see a performance. If there isn’t a performance, the set up is perfect for the venue. I have never tried any of the food they serve here, but their beer selection is fabulous! I have fell in love with so many German beers I never even knew excited after discovering this place. If I’m looking to have a good time, Radegast never have issues providing the fun I am seeking! Can’t wait to come back when I return to NY! P. S. The outside is a truly great copy of an old, German cabin(or something like that). Standing outside looking at it, you forget for a second that you are in the middle of Brooklyn!

Always a happy and fun place to visit on a Saturday in Brooklyn. Great as an afternoon meetup spot for larger groups of friends. I have heard anecdotally sometimes it’s so full that there’s a wait but that’s never happened to me. Sometimes it can be challenging to get a seat and/or a table but there are a lot of people standing anyway. They have a few different rooms — one which is more bar-focused, another which is more terrarium and sausage-stand, and one in the back which has booths and things for more serious chatters. I like the food; I have had a few of their sausages and they are basically in line with expectations for a pretty-good German spot(and they taste especially good after a couple of beers). They also, of course, have a great beer selection in addition to a full bar. Cute bartenders both male and female is a nice bonus.

Cool beer hall! We stopped by for a friend’s birthday and while it was packed, we were able to find space at the table. I tried some beers and they were all good. Even though I was full from dinner, I couldn’t help but try the huge pretzel. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. LOVED the cheese sauce it came with. I had a few bites of the schnitzel as well and I am still amazed at how thin and crispy it was. My friend ordered a steak which was GINORMOUS. I almost wish I hadn’t had dinner before so I could try more of the food here! The server, despite being bombarded with orders, was friendly and fast! I would definitely come back.

Whoa, how am I just now learning about this huge and amazing beer hall? Great place for meeting up with friends and the beer list is pretty impressive. They serve up huge pretzels and sausages at the grill, too. Who would have thought that a beer garden could feel this homey and be such a good option for brunch with your mom? I don’t know but this place surprised me. The space is huge and is separated into two sections. Dark candlelit bar on one side and grand spacious beer hall on the other. I was impressed by the variety of brats and sausages they had to order. I didn’t sample any because we came here too early in the morning after a failed attempt to eat at Egg next door. I did see tons of people ordering fries and they looked SO tempting. I need to come back for those and beer obviously. Back to brunch. I heard that they actually have amazing pancakes here and the reviews were right! Unilocal you are amazing as always. We ordered the ricotta pancakes and the«gypsy» French toast. I loved both! Presentation was beautiful which is a big deal for me since I take pictures of anything I eat lol BUT the French toast was better than I expected. Sometimes French toast can be hit or miss, mainly because it takes a long time to perfect. This one was nicely flavored and even though the bread was thick it was cooked the whole way through. Undercooked French toast is a serious no no people! It ruins brunches across America. Seriously though I will be coming back and sampling other delights here because I love the vibe and the food! The only thing I can say is that I wish the service was a little better, I felt like people ordering brunch were treated like an inconvenience to the waiters.

Steak Tartare: this plate was deconstructed, so it came with steak tartare with an egg on top, and sides of relishes and other sauces with toast Vegetable Latkes– these latkes were very good, bacon was delicious, as was the homemade applesauce and the horseradish paired with it nicely and I don’t usually like horseradish The vodka and cider cocktail was refreshing and not too sweet.
