We finally found this place after searching far and wide in the area for a place with TVs and AC because we wanted to watch the Belmont Stakes and the USA game. The interior is cool with several big TVs and a nice layout. We sat down and ordered a drink and cooled off. The bartender came over to us quickly and took our drink orders and since there was no one in the place the bartender stayed and chatted with us. Which was… interesting since he only talked to my boyfriend but whatever. My boyfriend should probably have been the one who ordered the burger in instead of me because it came out closer to medium well/well done when I said medium rare. We were starving so we ate it anyways. It’s a nice bar and although I had a weird experience I would probably give it another shot.

My girlfriend and I came here around 4:00pm on a Saturday after attending an event at the Brooklyn Expo Center. We were walking around the area and nothing really caught our eye besides Red Star. There was one other couple sitting in this cozy bar when we arrived and a few other people standing at the bar. Place was empty but we did come at an awkward time. They have plenty of TVs so we got to watch everything we wanted to while we stayed. The bar tending was really good for me but OK for my girlfriend. The bar tender was really only paying attention to me to be fair. Obviously I didn’t mind his conversation or attention if I need water or something but he should have conversed with Victoria as well. I was worn out from day-drinking so I stuck with water. They do have a decent selection of beers on tap though. We decided to split a burger with some onion rings. The onion rings were tasty but I wish there was more than what we got. The burger for really over cooked so I had to really lay on the ketchup to get it down. I would try this place out again if I am in the neighborhood and lean towards the wings that everyone post photos of.

I’ve never eaten here but earlier this year they started throwing some late night events after the kitchen closes so I’ve been attending those. The spot itself is intimate but pretty chill especially when you go on a night when Inoki is throwing an event there. It has multiple levels. The downstairs area is pub like with a bar and some seating. They do have a some TV’s down there so you can watch a game if you’d like. Re-entry is permitted you just need to get your hand stamped to go out and smoke or get some air. The area can get a little sketchy at night with the police constantly patrolling but I haven’t witnessed any incidents in this particular venue. The upper floors have a more loungey vibe to them. There’s an additional bar upstairs and a DJ booth and a dance floor. There’s couches to sit and chill on the outskirts of the dance floor. The sound system is pretty loud and decent in clarity for the space. The bartenders serve quickly and pour nicely. Overall it’s definitely a cool spot.

I have walk past this place before bi-level will open soon, I asked and they turned the finals on for us, wing night with the fellas! Great atmosphere we ordered like 200 wings and fries and like 4 pitchers and we had shots, food took some time but was hot and delicious no complaints, great hang out spot and a jukebox.

They re opened finally after a stint as a Brazilian restaurant. The vibe is much better now. There are tables and a king bar that you can sit at to watch games, drinks or dinner. There are five big TV’s so you can watch anywhere you are in the bar. There’s an upstairs too that is only open for parties and events I think. I’ve only seen it for that but it’s nice upstairs too. There are plenty of TV’s upstairs too. The food is delicious. I haven’t tried everything yet but the brussel sprouts, burgers, mussels, and kale salad are great. Of course the wings get a mention by themselves. Amazing. I like the nasty hot, and they are hot!, and the Raspberry. Staff here are cool too. Polite and accommodating. They aren’t too far from the G train and there is parking in the area. You might have to park a few blocks away.

Hey guys, go buy a bottle of Lagunitas Lil Sumpin Sumpin and try it next to what you are pouring on tap. Your lines are very, very dirty.

Finally a place where I can go watch the Super Bowl and have those wings! There is a rumor going around that there is a flatscreen in the ladies room, I guess I’ll have to investigate. This is the only place in the neighborhood like this, the kind of place that makes you feel like you live somewhere in the sticks where nobody cares about anything except sports and hunting season. It’s like grandma’s house upstate in the woods, except if grandma was cool and awesome and invited the whole damn neighborhood over because she just got satellite. Wednesdays here I come, I’m bringing three friends with me, and we will be screaming loudly over equally loud commentators competing for the space in my head. Staff has always been very accommodating, the place was just fine before somebody decided to make changes, and now it’s better while still the same. See you there.

LOVE this place. Sad I don’t live near it. The wings here are the best! I always pick some up when I pass by. But why did they close? :*(

I got one of their shrimp sandwiches and it only had shrimp on one side. It did not taste bad, but it could have been better. Also the person who took my order was a bit rude.

One word: VERMIN. Yep, saw a small mouse scurry across the floor in front of me and out the door. At least it was leaving, right? Maybe it found the wings too greasy. Seriously, they’ve had a «Grade Pending» sign up for a long time, so I should’ve know better. Since my first and last visit, I heard they had been closed by the Department of Health a couple years back. Someone I know has an office in that building and they say there are mice all over the joint.

Best wings in the Williams burg area can’t go wrong !! Many different flavors to choose from nice and juicy not skimpy.

Nibbles are great(like the wings) and the drinks are solid. It’s a fun and sometimes rowdy crowd, but what else is new? In comparison to other locations, nothing super great to brag about, but you won’t be disappointed here.

I love this place! Sport bar that has 2 floors and TV’s everywhere(even in the men’s bathroom from what I heard) The staff does a tremendous job in making the best drinks ever! I have gone here for years! The best wings that I have ever had– Raspberry BBQ wings are unbelievably amazing! it’s great to go on a Wednesday when the wings are .50 cents each. i love the Pub Fires but I always ask them to put the Old bay Fries instead of the regular fires and the mixture is amazing. The baby Arugula salad is great and i also recommended the Brooklyn Calamari. It’s great to go during a game but to get the earlier to get a table– they also do towers of beer which is great if everyone drinks the same beer. Try the RASPBERRYWINGS!!!

A drafty Saturday evening led 4 friends here for wings and a drinks. The wings of the night were garlic, raspberry bbq, & mild wings. Teh garlic wings were the losing flavor. I didn’t taste a piece of garlic and I love garlic… to the point it’s coming out of my pores when consumed. The other flavors were pretty tasty and made up for the ungarlic wings. The drink of the night was the red star challenge, which is a fishbowl with enough for 2 people to share. It’s a sneaky drink… taste like fruit punch w/nothing in it… but wait until you stand… a bit wobbly.

(Just a note for the harassment I’m getting for this review — grow up. I enjoy sports and don’t go to hipster bars. So telling me to get lost and go to one is pretty stupid. I grew up in the Adirondacks, the only bars we have are sports bars, hunter bars, or a combination of both. I’m comfortable in a gritty environment but I don’t tolerate outright bullying or sexual harassment.) I’ve lived in Greenpoint for five years, Brooklyn for seven, NYC for nine. I’ve lost track of all the bars I’ve been to and know I’ve had bad experiences but nothing that churns my stomach. However I can say unequivocally that last night was one of the worst bar experiences of my life. My boyfriend,(male) friend and I were all out yesterday doing fall sightseeing and other non-drinking things, so we wanted to end the night with a relaxed drink at a low key bar. Despite having never been to Red Star I have walked by it for years and it seemed like a decent place. My experience at Red Star began outside the door, where a guy who looked curiously like the bar’s cook was checking IDs. This classy gentleman then proceeded to call me out on my «beautiful voluptuous body» and told my friend«she looks 15» and«take care of her.» Thanks, but I can take care of my damn self, I’m 27. But it didn’t end there… As it became clear I was angry about his commentary and wanted to get the hell away from him, I was given my ID back and he said to some bystanders«I probably just need my eyes checked though.» Then as I got inside, there was an actual bouncer checking IDs again. What the hell? He’s pretty cool and let us through hassle free, but looks visibly annoyed at the cook for putting us through that. We finally sit down and I decide I no longer want to spend money there but my friend and boyfriend each get a beer. As I’m sitting and stewing over this sexist pig, they both agree to go to another bar where I don’t feel victimized, finish their drinks, and my friend goes to close out his tab. Despite it being illegal in NYS to have any credit card minimum higher than $ 10, the douche behind the bar tells my friend he needs to meet a $ 15 minimum(not posted anywhere) and he’s spent $ 6 so far, so he sells him a shot of whiskey for $ 8(!!!) and«cuts him a deal» with his tab«only» meeting $ 14. My friend is from out of town so he didn’t know the law and did it to get me out of there. I shouldn’t even have to mention this, because it’s wrong to do to anyone, but my friend also has Asperger’s and this bartender totally took advantage of his inability to read the situation for what it was(cheating). As we were leaving, another guy at the bar yelled at us «yeah! run away!» Gladly. This place is a total shit hole.

Saw this bar on the top best wing place so definitely had to check it out myself which had a good 1st impression and the wings are really the best here! Wednesday is 50 cents a wing so you really get your money worth! !! We only got the raspberry bbq because it was highly recommended and our favorite! We also ordered the burger which was fairly small and the salad last time. We also got the onion rings which were good and the truffle fries which was alright. The service was moderate, nothing too special about them.

The fact that a sports bar this«sporty» exists in NYC much less of all places a desolate corner in Greenpoint is amazing. When you’re in here, you truly don’t feel like you’re in New York anymore – so on an escape factor high marks. The TV situation is plentiful although not as decadent as more modern sports bars, but when you want to watch game(s) it’ll certainly get the job done. Overall, the service can be a bit spotty(especially upstairs) but hey, you’re hanging at a sports bar watching TV so no immediate need to rush. And the beer selection is pretty stale. But you know what isn’t stale? Wing, taco and slider specials during the week. And their Raspberry BBQ wing glaze is freaking delicious! I’m a huge wing fan and this is one of my fav flavors around. If you prefer something less sweet, the regular are also quite good. So for having deals, actually offering sports instead of hipsterism, being casual and pretentious-free and rarely jammed. I say Bravo, bravo Red Star.

This review is a side trip for a 1 hour wait at Paulie Gee’s across the street. Walked in here with gf and two other Unilocal nerds. haha yeah I said it… what? Large screen tv, a decent draft selection and what looked like a full bar. Didn’t try the food, but from the vibe and the atmosphere, looks like a real chill place. However, just not the type of place I’ll wander in if I had a choice. If it was raining and a major sporting event was on tv and all the other bars were packed… Red Star would be the 5 star place you’ll want to walk into. If not… it’s just another hole in the wall.
