Dumplings. My sister-in-law had the truck at her wedding. It was awesome. I tried everything they had and loved them all. If I see them on the road, I’ll have to get some dumplings on my walk. That can’t be bad. Although, if I’m having dumplings in NYC I’m going to Joe’s Shanghai for their Soup Dumplings. They only rival to Joe’s is Din Tai Fung in Hong Kong.

I was going to get a regular old salad for lunch when I was pleasantly surprised by this dumpling truck! I got the peking duck dumplings and a side of salad for $ 10.50(which is about the same as the salad I would have gotten). Yes, these dumplings are way more expensive than anything you’ll find in Chinatown, but it is comparable to a normal lunch in midtown. I enjoyed my dumplings thoroughly and the salad was tasty as well. I’ll be back to try more types!

I tried Rickshaw dumpling at Tropfest NY in prospect park yesterday. Big mistake. Not only were they overpriced(3 measley dumplings for $ 3.75), they were good at all. I had the chicken and thai basil and will say, not impressed. Really disappointed. Maybe this review is a bit biased, since the night before I had Vanessa’s dumplings(which are both delicious and cheap). But still… no one should pay more than a dollar for a dumpling, especially for the size and taste that Rickshaw had. Never again!

Way overpriced for dumplings — and not original enough for the hefty price tag. For a dollar a dumpling(in Chinatown, you usually get eight dumplings for under five dollars!), I definitely expect something special. Not only were Rickshaw’s dumplings un-original, they weren’t actually very tasty. The chicken and thai basil dumpling definitely sounded interesting on the menu, but I was underwhelmed by it.

We visited Rickshaw Dumpling Truck during the Parked! Food Truck Festival in the summer of 2012 and tried the pork dumplings, which came with a fairly standard dumpling sauce and the chicken and Thai basil dumplings, which came with a different and very tasty peanut dipping sauce. The girl serving them was informative and infectiously cheerful — she was great. I’m also surprised to see negative reviews of this truck — as a dumpling lover I’m confident in saying that if we ever see it on another visit to NYC I won’t hesitate to go back.

I stumbled upon this truck outside of the NY Public Library. Initially, it was to photograph their slick truck design, but my dumpling love got the better of me. I tried their pork and chive dumplings, which were really lovely! A little overpriced for your average dumpling, but that’s probably chocked up to the organic materials.

I’ve seen it on Atlantic and Court on Sunday mornings, not sure what the rest of its schedule is it. Dumplings were okay, not any better than that. I’ve had better from most Chinese restaurants or even freezer food. Pricier than what I was expecting too, about $ 10 for 9 dumplings.

I’m surprised the Rickshaw Dumpling Truck isn’t doing so well in reviews here — I had a surprising, sudden-dumpling-experience here. By sudden I mean … we stumbled across it, and within 60 seconds we had made a decision, paid, and had a hot little box of dumplings in hand. We ate them while standing in a warehouse driveway nearby. This time, the dumpling truck was stationed on Front Street in Dumbo, Brooklyn. I had no expectations, and decided to order the chicken dumplings with thai peanut sauce. Bingo! They were great! And I am a fussy dumpling eater(such morsels are common fare in Sydney). These dumplings are very light, they’re filled with chicken, glass noodles, thai basil and lemongrass, and they taste oh-so-fresh. The peanut sauce was probably the best part of the deal. It’s also quite light and delicate, not heavy and oily. I shared a box of 6 with my boyfriend and wished we had bought one box each. They were distinctive and even kind of … healthy tasting.

Don’t like at all. I’ve had better frozen dumplings.

I was surprised one Sunday by all the food trucks in front of the Grand Army entrance to Prospect Park. And lo, the ever elusive to me, Rickshaw Dumpling Truck(which I follow on Twitter.) So I of course after my jog with a buddy all I wanted was dumplings. I got the pork and my friend got the chicken. As she was treating, she twisted my arm into getting the watermelon lemonade. The dumplings were very good. Very. Not the best, but better than mediocre. The sauce was really, really good. I tasted my friend’s and hers was on point as well. The –ade was. .. good. If you dig things that are watermelon which aren’t directly the fruit, which I don’t really. But it was refreshing and cool. I would like to eat there again the next 3rd Sunday of the month, but I will prolly try something different. I am now willing to go out of my way to go to a truck location I see tweeted, though.

I have read reviews of the Rickshaw Dumpling Truck at Grand Army Plaza, but I want all Unilocalers to know that it is often stationed on the corner outside of the Trader Joe’s in Cobble Hill. I have gotten the seasonal ade(which was ok), the chili sesame noodle salad and the famous chicken and basil. I like the side salads for when I am not very hungry and the the chicken and basil for when I am more hungry.
