Several years ago I went exploring the neighborhood of Boro Park which borders where I live. Many of the stores and markets I stopped in at were to say the least less than friendly(gee could it be that I am not observant???). And at one store a customer told me to get her something from a top shelf! The one big exception was Rubin’s Grocery where the guys running the place were both friendly and helpful. I am a fan of Noam Gourmet Gefilte Fish because it is not only delicious but unlike just about every other bottled gefilte fish, it does not smell gross(Kedem and Meal Mart are also pretty good and run just behind)! It is also often difficult to find. Thus every year before making my pilgrimage to New England for Passover, I make the trip to Rubin’s for five or six bottles to bring with me! The market has quite a few other things of interest such as babka and Israeli candy and their prices are very reasonable for a Kosher grocer. Thus I am pleased to recommend that you too make the trip to Rubin’s and while you are there, please tell them that the secular guy who every year buys the Noam Gourmet Kosher for Passover gefilte fish to bring to New England sent you!
