Without question the most poorly managed hair salon I have ever experienced in my lifetime. Called Friday and made an appointment with stylist Tim for Sunday at 4:30, which the appointment taker stated was his last available time and confirmed it with me on the phone. Fast forward to Sunday; I arrive at 4:15pm and check in with the front desk person. At 4:40pm(nearly 30 minutes of waiting), the desk attendant comes over and says«we don’t show any appointment for you with Tim»; meanwhile Tim has seated another person and has already begun cutting his hair, without so much as a one minute discussion with me or effort to find a replacement. «Unfortunately we’re fully booked». The problem is — *I* was booked in the 4:30 slot! Alas — this place is in a constant state of flux, so I shouldn’t be surprised. Tim was the fourth stylist I’ve had to go to because all of the earlier ones quit. The front desk attendants are so zoned out most of the time that you don’t know if they’re checking you in, out, or what’s going on. I guarantee you folks the 4.5 stars I see on here are not representative of the experience you’re going to have at Rudy’s. Skip the $ 45 men’s haircut and find yourself a shop that isn’t some Portland hipster outpost of WTF-management style.

Tim is a Rockstar hairdresser and he just moved to NYC. He gave me the BEST cut I have had in years. I have a shag/pixie and he knew exactly how to cut into the hair and texturize and not thin it out. I have thick sort of wavy hair and I finally found someone after so many years of bad and mediocre cuts in NYC/Brooklyn. I am so HAPPY that i finally discovered TIM. Rudy’s is a very cool salon and they also use wella for color, the best!

I read a few of the reviews from this location praising Ken. I looked online and made an appointment with him a few hours before I went in. There was no wait, the place was welcoming and clean. This is the best cut I’ve had in maybe forever. I’ve been to a few other spots in the neighborhood and been disappointed to varying degrees, enough so that I normally just cut my own hair. No more. I’ll be going back to Ken whenever I need a trim. He helped me keep close to the style I’ve had for years, but made a few adjustments to help with my receding hairline and cowlick. He even threw in a few travel size products when I mentioned an upcoming trip. Kudos.

I’ve been to three different Barber’s here and everyone has given me an exceptional haircut. Also beard trimming, shampoo, personable staff, good products, I think this place is top notch

This is close to my office and there was no wait when I waked by so I figured I’d give it a try. Not going back here. One of the most lopsided cuts I’ve ever had. I asked for it to be fixed a few times, but figured I should just get out of there before I ended up clean cut. I need to go get it fixed at my usual spot today.

my S.O. got a much needed haircut here since it was two months past his last one and his last haircut left much to be desired. to be quite honest his last haircut(also in the same neighborhood but will not be name-dropped) left his curly textured hair into a hipster mess! the last person who cut his hair was unfamiliar with curly hair and cut against his texture and not with it!!! his hair turned into this awkward-hipster-fro-hawk. Tim his hairstylist came to save the day! he taught my S.O. how to style and condition his hair! miracles do exist! he turned a frog into a prince and his professionalism and compassion cannot be beat.

Super nice people, great haircuts, nice place. Ask for Tim, he’s awesome! Price may seem a bit high($ 40 – 50) but it’s worth it for a nice haircut in my opinion.

Ask for Ricki Andrews!!! Super happy with my new haircut! Walked in on a busy Sunday afternoon(after endless drives around the neighborhoods snobbish barbershops telling you to come by on the phone and not accepting you when you get there). I was surprised myself as they accommodated me right away. This was my 1st time here so I didn’t know what to expect… Must say the the place is super clean and stylish. Has a cool back yard and good vibe walking in!!! Had the luck of getting my haircut by Ricki Andrews! Amazing work!!! Super professional and amazing experience. As you know hair cuts are a delicate thing in a young mans life in trendy New York… Must say I really enjoyed this place. Thank you guys for introducing me to my new place, defiantly going back soon ;)

Awesome space. Bright, has a backyard section, and they offer you coffee when you walk in! Not a barber shop you feel awkward walking into — they’re super inviting and the place has a very laid back vibe. Ken is the man! Haven’t had a cut like this in a while and he was only fixing what the last guy screwed up! Going back this week for another freshie. He really takes care of you and knows what he’s doing. Not just another cookie cutter hair cut. He looks at your hair and tells you what needs to/can be done and what will be best for you.

Such a great place. Ask for Kenneth! I moved to NYC from LA last month and a week or so I was looking for somewhere nearby my place in Williamsburg to get a haircut. I always had a great experience at the Rudy’s in LA so I walked over and was immediately greeted by Kenneth. The space is huge and very relaxed. I went in for a really short cut. Ken took his time in listening to what I wanted and kept checking in throughout the cut to make sure I was happy with where it was going. I couldn’t have been more satisfied with the results. Super nice guy and very good stylist. I’ll definitely go back again. Excellent service all around.

My first first few years in NYC, I had a stylist friend I adored but as his career took him towards editorial and celeb-styling i found myself searching for someone new… It was a 6+ year search of trying out friend’s stylists, groupons, free cuts from work hook-ups, etc… until I found Tim at Rudy’s in Williamsburg. I have long, non-fussy hair but for some reason, i had the hardest time finding someone who would cut it dry and really shag out the edges and make it look more rock-n-roll than the average basic«pretty girl cut.» Tim got it. He listened, He suggested. He checked in mid-cut. He was great at making sure i was getting the cut i wanted… and he was fun to talk to! And the solon is rad. And i’ll be going back to him for now on. You should too–

Just moved back east from Los Angeles, so when I learned Rudy’s had a location in Brooklyn I was super happy. Olivia cut my hair and she totally aced it! She was friendly, pleasant and very thorough. I will for sure request her next time.

I recently started going to Rudy’s in Williamsburg, specifically to see Kenneth. This dude is surgical when it comes to haircuts and a good shave. Never in my life have I gotten so many compliments on my hair since since I started getting it cut/styled by Ken. The space is big, comfortable and inviting. In a city with a sea of barbers, stylists, haircutters, etc… it is important to weed out the weak. Ken will not disappoint. He’s also generally, a good person. I highly reccommend stopping by and giving Rudy’s/Ken a shot.

I’ve gotten my haircut with Ken who is outstanding! He listened to everything I liked and disliked about my hair in our consultation. He did an amazing job at reshaping my layers and finished the cut with a unique beachy blowout that I loved! Atmosphere in the salon was very hip and chill, and the location is great! I would recommend Ken to anyone, he has true talent and skill.
