I used to shop here many, many years ago. Back then, it was well lit, very organized and the staff were quite professional. This past weekend, I took my husband here to find a winter coat for him. What a difference, and not in a good way. The store is now very dimly lit. There is no organization whatsoever on the racks in terms of size, color, etc. And the staff? Rude beyond rude! I only had brief contact with one«worker», and that was only when she snapped at me! If the Salvation Army is indeed aware of the state of this«family store», they ought to be ashamed of themselves! I won’t be coming back here, that’s for certain. I’ll take my chances with other stores, thank you.

Want a disaster this place is! Crowded racks, isles and the shelves with brick-a-brack unappealing. The staff were working hard but I think it’s just too much for too few workers.

I doubled parked my car, dropped off everything onto the donation truck, went inside to fill out the donation receipt which was already pre-signed, all done with little wait time. The store is located across the street from the housing projects.

Very clustered here, was in the neighborhood and decided to kill some time, the layout is werid furniture to the front ladies to the left men, the right … Be prepared to literally dig to find good items … I bought two pairs of jcrew pants for 7 bucks not bad at all

I have been here about 3x in 30 years and will never come again. Each time, I donated lots of clothing, in good condition, including some really nice dresses. By the time I left, EACHTIME, I watched the workers walking out with the best of my stuff. Each time, I hoped that the management/ethics/etc. had improved, but clearly not. To top it off, I was made to feel that they were doing me a favor by accepting the donation. Lots of attitude. I will find someplace else to donate to.

Easy for me to make my donations here. They need a little help with customer service, better with past employees. There is always a peculiar odor whenever I proceed to make my donations. With all of the donations received here, I constantly hear customers complain about their pricing and decided to have a look see for myself… Found it to be true in some cases it appears they are charging too much for alot of items.

I’ve never been in here to shop, but I have donated clothes here. I came here a few times and all I usually do is head straight to the back with whatever I need to donate, drop it off on the floor for the employee. After that, you can head to the front counter and get a receipt and leave. It’s that simple! I just hope my old clothes will be put to good use by them!

This store is an insult to the customers and to the employees who have to spend the workday in such dirty and unattractive surroundings. The floor tiles are coming up and apparently the place hasn’t been painted in decades. I brought some linens and other items in yesterday. All the donations are thrown in the back of the store in disarray. I called the main office of The Salvation Army and was given the name of a supervisor who was no longer working with the organization. I left two messages, but no one returned my call. Frankly, I wonder about the integrity of this organization.

This store is okay. It’s disorganized and staff can be rude. It’s a bit stuffy and after searching through the clothes for a bit I start to feel itchy especially when I see dirty, sweaty people trying on the clothes over their own since there are no fitting rooms. I make sure to check the inner collar and sleeves for anything that may resemble a bed bug. I toss my items into a plastic bag and tie it tight, wash it with hot water and dry on high heat immediately upon entering my household.

Considering how many tons of stuff I’ve donated to this Salvation Army location over the years, it feels odd to have to pay to take something home. I often find useful clothes here and the prices are dirt cheap. The sales floor at this location is pretty clean, and it’s air conditioned, yay! One of the best things about used clothes is that if they ever were going to shrink, become mishapen or pilled, or retain stains, they would have done so by now after other people’s multiple launderings or dry-cleanings. So what you see is really what you’ll get now and in the future(except for bedbugs… check carefully!).

I’ve been giving them donations for years. The staff there is super friendly. They really appreciate you and make you feel special. Also no issues with paperwork. I am always happy to come back.

i may be hesitant to write this review and that’s a very good sign. It’s my favorite salvation army. out of touch of all the greedy obsessed williamsburg/park slope crowd. It’s walking distance from my home and i good there frequently. the workers there take their job seriously and the racks are always organized well and there is a huge selection of everything. if i had been wanting something all i have to do is keep on visiting this salvation army and it’ll show up. it’s a dream come true for me to have this nearby without much competition for stuff. however people do seem to empty the place out on sale days. however, even though it’s not my preference, i can have the racks mostly to myself finding great ‘new’ items and get them before the beginning of the week when the sales start. at this salvation army you can find great contemporary novels, bcbg evening gowns and a reasonable record selection. i love this place. plain and simple.

I conduct bi-monthly charitable donations at this Salvation Army. The interior is dirty and disorganized. Never once was I attracted to search the confines for a rare yet sought after item. Everything was misplaced and if someone were to find something of interest, it would be out of pure luck. At times, the staff is helpful; they were able to direct me to the donation area without impediment. The donation area was a train wreck! Bags are dropped off for sorting by the staff. The immense amount of donations alone is more than enough to turn heads. Nevertheless, Salvation Army is good for what it is. It’s a place to make material donations for a great cause. Don’t look anymore into it.

This is my favorite Salvation Army that I’ve found in Brooklyn so far. It is larger then other SA stores here and has a great selection. One thing they are great with is thier selection of Kitchen items, I have gotten tons of cheap nice useful kitchen stuff here. They have some really awesome clothes if you have the patience to search the racks cause it’s really a HUGE selection of clothes, but if you look well you can find great treasures here like expensive brands of clothing and shoes, great books(not just the usual romance novel crap), cool old records, nice decorative items, and good furniture. Thier prices are better then other NYC Salvation Armies I’ve seen.

A nice Salvation Army depot store with a good selection. Most of it is clothes(organized somewhat haphazardly, but at least they’re on hangers), but they do have a section in the back for some furniture, and one wall dedicated to shoes, household stuff, and miscellaneous décor. I got one of my favorite down winter jackets there for $ 15, and a few other neat trinkets for cheap. Definitely stop in if you’re in the area or walking down the block, just to see what they may have that day. It’s a hit-or-miss most of the time though, but most SA stores are. On the giving end of things, this is also a drop-off center. A VERY good place to unload your unneeded stuff, like well-used clothing, old toys, etc. I know I’m not the only one with too much«stuff» sitting around the house, as well as no patience to hold periodic yard sales. You can drop off the stuff right at the store, and you fill out a tax-exemption form tallying the bags. It’s best if you separate the bag contents by type of object — toys, clothing, shoes, books, that kind of thing… makes it easier for them when they sort it out and load it onto the trucks. In fact, if you get there early enough in the day, you can catch the collection guys before they leave, and load your stuff right onto the truck itself. It feels good to simultaneously get rid of unwanted stuff AND help people out at the same time. :)

Books for .99 — $ 1.49. That’s all I need! Turnover is huge, so grab what you can! I haven’t found any trippy coffee mugs, souvenir glasses, or any good shirt deals here though. Like I need more mugs. Or books for that matter.
