A small restaurant with a friendly waiter and solid sausages, a good range of beers, its pretty good but i was expecting homemade food.

I am giving this place 4 stars only because they do not accept credit cards. I knew about it while I was reading other reviews that’s why we came prepared with some green bills ;) We didn’t try any schnitzels at this place but when I will come here my second time I know what I am going to try… :) Large variety of beer We split a platter of Wurst Teller Mit Allem Drum Und Dran our waiter told us that 2 people usually can’t finish it… but we did it!!! yay!!!2 glasses of beer each and this platter… I was about to die… the portion was huge! Everything was very tasty, fresh and delicious

They don’t take credit cards. I appreciate the authenticity but I’d appreciate the billing to be in this century. Food was fine, not overwhelmingly divine. Kind of sad, was looking forward so much. Pork chops felt under cooked. There were only like 7 people in the whole place, so sad. Go to Heidelberg on the Upper East Side. No I don’t work for Heidelberg, I just want you to experience good German food. I guess for German food in Brooklyn this is what one gets.

It is a great dinner. German food was outstanding. We had a groupon that was great because it is a cash only place. The beer selection was outstanding. Try the pancakes and variety of Schnitzels.

we went on Friday jan 222016 fo my husbands birthday. Make a reservation because the place gets crowded fast. its not very large. I had the wieners schnitzel breaded veal that was as tender as can be breaded and fried along with speatzle wheich is essentially elbow macaroni in a cream sauce. My salad came with the delicious warm bacon dressing. My husband had the beef rotondon which was melt in your mouth rolled beef with a sweet red cabbageand two light as air potatoes. My son had the potpie. They made it specialf or him without the sauerkraut. The potpie wasthree different kinds of sausage in double bakedmashed potoes that were very light and creamy. We had beer at the start of the meal. My husband had a very dark ale that camein a very tall glass my son had a dark beer that came froma bottle He said he never had beer so good. I had a raspberry bottled ale that tasted like a very sweet Passover wine. I had the stuedle with ice cream for desert my husband had the black forest cake my son had the german chocolate cake all of which were superb. The wait staff was very down to earth and friendly They were particular knowledgable about german beers which was good because we are not. Come wityh plently of cash because they do not accept credit cards of any kind I would DEFENITELY recommend this restauraunt to a friend and would DEFINATELY consider going back

Good food and terrific service. Seasonal additions to menu and beers which is fun. Nice, welcoming servers and bartenders. Good for date night(can be loud though), family friendly. If you have a group you may want to ask about entertainment for that night. It is impossible to have a conversation when they have a band or karaōke. But some people like that.

Have not been here in a few years after bad experience with the food. Decided to give it another shot, well it hasn’t gotten any better. My wife had the chicken paprikash, really awful, you don’t use chicken breast for entrée and sauce was terrible. I had pork dish that felt greasy going down and repeated on me rest of evening. I guess if you sit at the bar the beers are good and if you drink enough it might make you forget about what your eating.

Two years ago, I had Thanksgiving dinner there and it was great. The décor can be very cozy or tense depending on who to s at the bar. Their escargot is always on point. I like the fact that they quite a variety of beers.

They don’t accept cards so plan ahead. Go to the Rite Aid and get gum and use your card as debit so you won’t get charged a bank fee if your bank is not one of the 5 surrounding Schnitzel Haus. The gum will come in handy on the way home when your breath smells so bad from all that beer that even the smelly bums wouldn’t want to sit next to you on the train. With that being said, happy hour is Monday thru Friday 4−7pm. $ 4 German beer in America? Oh hell ya ! The buffet was good. This place was true to its roots because they don’t cater to vegetarians, or worse yet, vegans! They had one salad and the rest was meat, meat, meat! Oh but there was the sweet potatoes which were ok. The German meatballs with beer cheese was exceptionally filling. The spaetzel needed butter and pepper though, but if you put the beer cheese on top it was good. Will go back at some point and try the rest of the menu. And more beer!

Overall the food was great the service was great and the staff was very friendly! I will def go back again. Servers: Nyasia and Remington So I came to this restaurant where Paint nite was being held this past Sunday and I was automatically impressed with the detail in the place. Before the paint nite event my friends and I decided to grab a bite, so I tried the jaeger schnitzel. I would absolutely recommend it! It came with a house salad and home fries with bacon and onions. It so hit the spot. My friends tried the pork shank and the wurst sampler which was just as delicious. Oh and the Black Forest cake for dessert! You have to try it. I also hear they have live entertainment very often on the weekends. every weekend if I am not mistaken. I look forward to going on a Saturday night for a rock and roll night :)

Since I wrote my first review almost 4 years ago, I decided to give you an update. You might be surprised to learn that a German restaurant has delicious chicken, but, it’s true! The grilled chicken is tender and moist, but the special taste is due to the paprika that’s added to the meat. What a great combination of flavors! I’ve had the burger(well done) and it was cooked to perfection — just the way I ordered it. I can recommend the fresh vegetables that come with the chicken. Moist, fresh, with a hint of butter. I really like the red cabbage, too. I’ve found the service to be solid and dependable. Others have mentioned the prices, but I feel that the dishes here are properly priced based on the quality of the food and the value that I get for a meal. Delicious and consistent food, good service, and reasonable prices. What more can you ask from a restaurant?

I do not understand how this place has 4 stars – it is soooo mediocre, at best. And for the price is even worse. I LOVE German food and was very disappointed in the quality of food here. My husband ordered the schnitzel sampler. One of the three cutlets of meat was so tough we couldn’t chew it and had to swallow whole or spit out. The spaetzle, a German dish I love, was so dry and not served with any kind of sauce or butter, etc. Imagine getting a bowl of cooked but dry pasta. We tried the bacon vinegrette that reviews raved about. It was weird. Like warmed, slightly liquified fat. Not sure what to make of it. And yes it’s true, they don’t take credit card. Which is fine if you planned ahead and brought cash. But it just seems for as expensive as this place is and the fact that it’s 2015 that they’d take credit card. But that wasn’t as much of a concern as the food.

Superior service and quality of food. One thing is for certain: I will be returning to this restaurant! The atmosphere has the basic feel of a traditional German bier hall, with a touch of old-fashioned elegance. The seating is spacious, the lighting dim, and it’s very clean(including the restrooms). I could tell that a lot of the people coming in were regulars, but we still received the same amount of attention from the waitstaff, which made me feel valued as a customer. I believe that the gentleman we interacted with the most is the owner or manager, and he was great — joked around with us, answered all of our questions, made sure we were satisfied. The bacon dressing, which you can get on a house salad, was hands-down the best dressing I’ve ever had on a salad. It’s zesty, with bits of smokey-tasting bacon in it. I had the smoked bratwurst with mashed potatoes, and the cold potato salad. I can’t say enough good about them. The mashed potatoes are buttery and smooth, with small chunks in them. The brats were juicy and cooked to perfection. They also came with a variety of mustards ranging from sweet to spicy; my favorite was the spicy horseradish variety! My boyfriend had an entrée containing a variety of 3 schnitzels, and he raved about it. The menu has endless options! They have an extensive beer selection. Their wine list is limited, but contained a satisfactory Chardonnay. The prices are unbeatable, and the portions are generous! Even if Bay Ridge is a bit far for your traveling preferences, I urge you to give this place a shot!

What a place! I went here with a couple of friends before a night on the town, and we had a GREAT time. We had the potato-leek soup, which was excellent! Then my friends ordered a fried pork chop type dish — with a jäeger sauce — excellent! I had the pork shank — cooked to perfection; the meat fell right off the bone — excellent! We ordered the strudel and a pretzel for desert — equally excellent. Our servers for the night, Remington and Nayasia, were excellent; attentive and easy going; just a friendly face in this fast paced world — and they recommended a delicious beer to go with my shank. Boy, that’s a lot of excellence in one night. Thank you for a GREAT time, Remington and Nayasia! My friends and I want to wish this establishment all the best in their future, and we hope it continues to remain a staple in the Bay Ridge community for the years to come.

I went here to try their Sauerbraten dinner. I would give the red cabbage an 8 the Braten a 7.5 and the potato dumplings a 10. The best Sauerbraten I’ve had is at Zum Stamptish in queens but in a pinch these were fine. The service was fine and the place is a light, lively spot that seemed to have many regular diners. I was there on a Tuesday night and the place was jumping with good humored happy people. The prices for the entrees are reasonable and the on tap beer, the darkest I could find was delicious. I was only tempted to drop another star because of the autographed picture of Donald Trump by the door. He’s loathsome.

OMG, I enjoyed the House salad with Dijon vinagrette(and so did my friends). That house salad is homemade: big chunks of carrot and cucumbers. One of my friends selected the Bacon Vinagrette(omg, that is AMAZING and light too). Then my entrée of veal schnitzel arrived. I didn’t care much for it. It was cooked properly, but all I could think of was the salad. It’s a clean place, nicely lit. Bathroom located towards the back, but before the kitchen.

Okay, so what was I to think as I approach a German establishment… of course being the only brown face in the place? I order a drink at the bar, waiting for the rest of my Meetup Karaōke(yes, for real) group. As I sit, a guy, who looks a little like Uncle Fester stares at me. My heart skips a beat a little, thinking of the skinheads I saw in East Germany a while ago. Then he speaks«You are so beautiful». Oh heeeeeey now! From there I had no worries. I came to Schnitzel Haus because I knew that they had live karaōke and my Meetup group decided to meet there. It was so much fun. They of course have beer. They also have crazy good food. Our organizer was late coming, but reserved tables for us and didn’t mind us sitting and ordering. The waitstaff was really nice, as were the band that would be hosting the karaōke event. Everyone was happy with the insane amount of food that was on their plates, because I was so full, and full of music that by the end of the night I wanted to get wheeled out of there! Will go back soon the next time the Human Karaōke Experience play!

I came without knowing there would be a loud band playing live. It’s not a huge place, and it was a busy night, so the only table left was right in front of the band. It was way too loud to hear anything! We ended up requesting a table that was blocked off in the back. After asking twice, they finally moved us to the back table. The german beer selection is great! So much to choose from, and they all come with matching labeled cups, so cute. The apps sound great, but fall a little flat. Just eat the bread instead. But the warm bacon dressing salad that came with my meal was yummy. The wiener schnitzel was surprisingly bland. The bratwurst sample platter was delicious. You probably won’t be able to finish 5 large bratwurst and mashed potatoes, so just take it home. The saurkraut really made everything more tasty.

Once again we came for the buffet dinner on Wednesday night. I am so glad that the food were still as delicious as last time. The food that I love this time was the Shepherd’s Pie and the Mussels and Penne with Creamy sauce. I just cant stop eating them, that’s how good they were!!! The Shepherd’s Pie they made is a little different than the normal one. Instead of the ground meat, they used sliced wursts in the bottom. They also put a layer of sauerkraut in between. The Mussels were perfect cooked, which means they were plum and juicy. Besides that, they also had roasted pork, Beef Gulasch with Noodles, Meatloaf, steam vegetable and German potato. I cant wait to come back again!!!
