This is where you can find me once a week for the last year! The best spa I’ve been too! Great mani pedi, I now do gels and they have made my nails healthier! I also started get eyelash Ext. They listen to you and remember details! Kelly and Helen are the best! They also give great discounts. Ask them about the discounts they will explain it! I also just used mood nail polish! When I’m hands are warm it’s a cherry red and then when it’s cooler it turns dark purple /red. Check out my photos.

I recently came in with my boyfriend for a two pedicures, a reg mani, a gel mani, and massage. It was an enjoyable experience, and we were satisfied(for the most part) with our services. My biggest issue is this whole callus removal pedicure that they kept pressing on us. I don’t have calluses, and all my feet needed was a good scrubbing to smooth it out after 2⁄3 weeks of not having a pedicure. Because they want you to purchase all these extras(mind you we spent $ 125 + $ 30 in tips) they don’t scrub your feet; half assed scrub job is what I’d call it. Had to tell my pedicurist Angela to please smooth out my feet, and she only did one foot. It also doesn’t help that the«pumise» stone used is rough so it doesn’t smooth it just makes underneath the feet more rough. All nail salons I’ve been to have done this, so Shanghai isn’t the only one. We will be back since that isn’t reason enough to NOT return, however I’ll be coming with my own pumise stones in hand.

Unhappy customer. Mediocre pedicure at best. Rude staff. They try to «upcharge» for everything. Not relaxing, soothing or enjoyable.

Nice and clean salon. The atmosphere is very comfortable. The classical music that they play is soothing and helped me to relax even more. They are somewhat pricey. The woman that did my pedicure was very nice and overall did a good job.

So rude and unprofessional. I was sat down in a pedicure chair with the water running and about to start my pedicure when two customers walked in who«had reservations.“I said I was fine waiting for someone else to finish. Not two minutes later, two more customers came in and asked how long the wait was. They said«not long» and then proceeded to explain to me that I would also have to wait for these new customers to have their gel removed before they would start on me. After I protested that these would be the third and fourth people serviced before me, the manager started arguing with me, saying someone else would be finished soon(why couldn’t the new customers wait like I did?!?) I have gone there many times(and tipped at least 25%) despite having a previous pedicure interrupted multiple times to «service a customer in the basement.» Don’t make the same mistake I did– this place is not worth the extra money. They are rude and have horrible customer service. There are tons of nail salons on 5th that are cheaper and who won’t be rude to you.

My gel manicure looks great — very precise, they have an awesome color selection, everyone was super kind, the woman doing my nails even flipped my kindle for me when my hands were being pampered. Thanks! I’ll be coming back for the next round.

I usually don’t write bad reviews for places but my girlfriend was so upset with this place I had to write something. This was my first time getting a mani/pedi so I didn’t really have any expectations. They charged us 37 a piece which is pretty high so we thought we would get better treatment. Mine wasn’t bad was a little rushed but my girlfriends was nowhere near what she thought it would be. They did here nails while they did her feet to try and save time but butchered the heck out of it. She had to ask for them to do her cuticles and didn’t even soak them before(and even though I’ve never had my nails done, I even knew this should have been included). Her nails weren’t cut evenly, didn’t clean underneath them, and they didn’t buff them at all. They charged extra for callous removal(6 dollars which is ridiculous) and didn’t even spend time on hers. Mine was smooth but here’s were still rough. Even though she got both sets painted she was still done way before me. The girl tried to charge extra to massage the lotion in even thought the woman did it for me for free. We tried to pay with card and they said it would be eight dollar charge. We had to go across the street to get money and when we left they stopped her and said she forgot to tip. Save your money for a place that is worth 37!

Came in for the $ 30 mani/pedi special while having some time to kill & recently leaving a fashion show casting in the area. Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere(looking at the glass waterfall inside while getting my pedicure, I felt myself drift off a few times though I may also have had a lack of sleep affecting that) & I have some nice nails and toes. Got a shoulder massage while waiting on the finger & toe nails to dry and the girl helping me made sure my toes weren’t going to smudge up in my sneakers. They even let me use the ladies room here & had water available. Now the massage chair doesn’t have one of those vibration things but I personally didn’t mind. Also, if you get quick dry polish on your nails it is $ 1 extra. Otherwise, no complaints here. There wasn’t a huge crowd & it WAS a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.

Better atmosphere than the other spas around. Friendly, attentive staff always remembers me. I get my eyelashes and eyebrows tinted here($ 40) about once a month, and it’s spot on. The spa services are well priced, but their mani-pedi is not priced competitively with the area(which averages at $ 20) — that’s probably why this place is usually empty. However, I’d much prefer the atmosphere at Shanghai, so it depends on what you feel you’re paying for. I’ll continue to come for the tinting services and take advantage of their specials like a half-price brazilian wax on Wednesdays.

Nice spa for a pedicure and foot massage after a lot of walking. The place is clean and they seem to follow good hygiene practices. The staff was friendly and didn’t push the upsell too hard. They charge extra for buffing the nails and for callous removal, which has always been part of the price at other places I’ve seen. And the massage chairs were awesome. My main complaint is the big screen TV showing a bloody action flick — «Machete.» Fortunately, there was no sound, so I just closed my eyes most of the time, but WTF? Not cheap, but it was worth it to get my tired feet back in shape.

I kept meaning to try this place– it looks so clean and comfortable, despite always being empty. The mani pedi wasn’t terrible, just not worth $ 37(it was more like a $ 15 corner spot job)– slightly messy polish job, poorly shaped nails, no time spent on calluses– the young girl couldn’t have been more than 18 and was pushing upgrades the whole time. The brazilian, oh ladies– just don’t do it. Waxing same spots over and over, TONS of left over hair it looks more like I got a trim than a wax in some places(sorry for TMI). I can’t believe the prices they charge for such below average care. Too many places on 5th avenue to ever go back again.

I can’t speak for the previous reviews, but I feel this salon/spa is amazing! The owner of «H&L nail salon» decided to open up Shanghai Spa across the street for all your spa needs. She did a wonderful job! The salon is absolutely gorgeous, tranquil and relaxing. The décor is serene and Asian inspired and it always smells good! Anytime you go to get a manicure or pedicure they use disposable sets, so the same one is never used twice. You get complimentary essential oil or vitamin E oil applied to your hands and arms during your massage. Not to mention the girls do my manicure PERFECT every time! They are so sweet and speak very good English(I hope that doesnt come across wrong lol). They serve complimentary greent tea or water and have snacks on hand. Even though I have not had spa services done as of yet, they have a beautiful back area with the rooms for massages and wax services. They do everything from facials to microdermabrasion to mud wraps. Even couples massages! I love this place and even though it is a bit pricier, its completely worth it with all the extras they do.

I went here for a leg wax. I’m not expecting a world class leg wax at a nail salon, but I am expecting a decent job. They missed a lot of hairs and there was a ton of wax stuck on me when I left. The wax wasnt hot enough either and it pulled on my skin when they applied it. She didn’t made any effort to remove the excess wax except handing me a tissue after. I won’t be returning, there are cheaper and better quality options in the neighborhood.

I went yesterday for some threading. They used a massage chair which is not meant for threading. Because of the weird angle, I have cuts on my face. If the right chair was not available, I would have been happy to wait or some back another time. Meanwhile I saw someone else adjusting their own massage chair because the employee did not know how to. highly unprofessional!

I really wanted to like this place, but even though the price was high for a mani-pedi, the manicurist still asked me at every turn if I would like a pricier upgrade, which was really annoying. She also wasn’t very good, and cut my nails too short even though I asked her not too. I would have been fine with the place if I had walked out with a good mani-pedi but I left having paid a lot for a mediocre job and a not great experience. I won’t be going back.
