Sistas’ Place is the best place for jazz on Saturday nights – check out
and see what all the fuss is about! They also have regular events and fund raisers all week long. They are community folks and advertize in community-​based newspapers, street poles and passing out flyers. So yeah, the next time a friendly person in Bed-​Stuy is trying to hand you a flyer – take it!

Though I live right around the corner from this place (literally)…I’ve always passed by but never visited. Well, yesterday afternoon was the most gorgeous sunshiney day in Brooklyn and the great people of Sista’s Place was holding a fish fry to raise money for shelter in Haiti. The fish smelled so good and the vibe was sooo right that my friend and I decided to come back after we enjoyed a bit of a. c and conversation at my house.
While there we enjoyed our fried whiting fish on whole wheat bread and refreshing cups of lemonade. They were playing a documentary on the newly formed freedom party and discussing what their cause was about!
I’ll definitely stop by here again. A great energy from great Black people who have a vision and a distinct purpose! =]
