I judge coffee houses based on its performance on cappuccino, unless they serve a speciality coffee. I’m always on the lookout for great coffee, so naturally This place has been on my list for a long time, and now that I’ve gotten around to it, I’m happy to report that Their cappuccino is definitely worth a detour… And It’s indeed one of the better coffees in the great city of New York, and that says a lot… * Cash only. * Never had problems finding parking. * Free WiFi. * It’s close to the green-wood cemetery, grab your coffee and book, and enjoy the serenety and beauty of the cemetery. * their seasonal watermelon lemonade was not good.

I went through Brooklyn trying the top-rated coffee/espresso shops, and this place was the best. Great separation of flavors and naturally sweet. My fiancé got a hibiscus iced tea and that was outstanding too. Highly recommend!

‘Tis an easy, neighborhood-y joint I like to pop into for a reprieve from my workday. The staff is cool. They know a lot of regulars by name, they’re expedient and friendly, and when some d*ck places and order, leaves, and never returns — they shrug it off and pass off his order to whomever is in the place(free food, yes please!). Good coffee(I believe it comes from MA), although if you don’t like your coffee bitter, you might not be in love with it. There’s always space on the fence to lock up your bike, and there are so often dogs hanging out by the front benches that are cute AF. The only time I’ve ever seen a wifi issue here, they let everyone know on the A frame outside — so much nicer than walking in, ordering, and then finding out it doesn’t work. My only complaint is that the coffee sizes are kind of small compared to other coffee shops in these parts.

Consistently great coffee A little annoying that they only take cash It’s a small spot always filled with customers, including kids Not sure if this is a spot to work They have small selections of coffee, food, and pastries, but all are consistently good

I’ve always liked the coffee here but with the addition of the new sandwich menu I’m constantly trying to come up with ways to have lunch here. Definitely filling a need in the neighborhood, I wish I worked closer!

Like their chai latte compared to other cafes because it’s not overly sweet. Also like their breakfast sandwiches and their pastries. Got this caramel coconut banana bread pastry and it was delicious! It’s also nice that it’s right across the street from the children’s park so can grab something before heading over. Service is fast but waitstaff is not very cheery. The sandwiches are good but con is that they are pricey.

My significant other and my favorite place to set our laptops up, order an amazing drink, and work away. Now they serve sandwiches so we don’t even have to leave for lunch! My favorite is the veggie hoagie.

My usual morning coffee and now breakfast sandwich spot. Crew is kind and take their time to make sure you have all the stuff you need(omg the pastries). Sandwiches hit the spot. Cash only but so is a huge portion of the hood, so no surprise!

Imagine my dismay when I went to order a soy latte and the last remaining apple turnover at Southside Coffee, only to rummage through my bag and realize I left my wallet at home! In a failed attempt to not embarrass myself, I frantically told the barista that I had forgotten my wallet at home with what I’m sure was a dumbfounded expression on my face. Though slightly reluctant, he assured me that I could return and pay for my items at a later time. I enjoyed my latte and surprisingly delicious apple turnover while attempting to use their wifi(which for some reason wouldn’t work which was the whole reason for my visit). I returned two days later and paid my debt, satisfying the karma unbalance I surely accrued. All in all. The trusting barista and the yummy turnover – 5 stars. Thank you again!

Something about the position of the queue in relation to the door makes me loathe this place. You literally can’t line up without someone bumping into your coffee and spilling it all over you. Same goes for paying, turning around and trying to leave. The position of the milk bar makes it a hassle to walk through the queue for a drop of milk. These are things I think about, people! I should be an architect. The regular black coffee is always burnt and so highly acidic and they don’t take cards. I want to love Southside as a local South Slope resident and honest patronizer, but with better spots in the area, I probably won’t go out out my way. Notable: good seating for studying/working and the revamped sandwiches looked delicious. Perhaps worth another visit for the latter.

Neat little coffee shop in the South Slope /Greenwood Brooklyn area. The coffee here is always done well. Double cappuccino is delicious. Friendly staff. Wifi. Indoor and outdoor seating. They don’t open early which is weird since it is a coffee shop. They open at 8am. I usually need my coffee by 7am. Too bad.

This is a pretty nice little café! It is located on 6th Ave. sort of away from other little café’s and such. The coffee is good quality and the drinks are well made. The barista was super friendly and sweet. They have free WIFI in the café. The café gets lots of light and a large amount of traffic. They have a small selection of pastries to choose from. The café is cash only. There did not seem to be air conditioning in the place; or maybe they just didn’t have it on when I was there. There are a couple of seats outside in the front.

Solid place, lots of light, a decent number of tables. The coffee is excellent and the barrista seemed cheerful, which is nice to find in a BK coffeeshop.

How does this place get 4 and a half stars? Because a New York City coffee snob is a rare breed. However, I’m here to provide some feedback as a native New Yorker who moved to the Pacific Northwest and experienced the joy of a perfectly pulled espresso on a consistent basis. I’m not going to trash what they do here because all in all it was an acceptable Americano. I was in the neighborhood and stumbled in so I wasn’t expecting anything until I pulled up the Unilocal rating out of curiosity. I’ll admit it, my cynic’s cap was on from the start. The Americano itself wasn’t burnt but the grind was definitely off and there was some clumping. It was the right temperature the coffee itself tasted OK, but nothing really impressive. The price was standard at $ 2.50 and the service would have made even the hipsterest Portland barista seem like Mr. Rodgers. I’ve never had a barista tip himself with my change before. To summarize, I felt I had to call this place as I see it. An average coffee joint with below average service.

Grate capuccions, the only problem they were little small. The place does cash only but will stop by when I am in the area for my coffee fix

Mmm… Not too sure what the rave is about this place. Horrible service and i got a bunch of evil stares from the barista. Couldnt pay with a credit card and the barista only told me this after he made my order. Coffee was okay but definitely wont be coming back here. Asked for some milk and he told me he didnt have any… Hmmm, no milk at a coffee shop? Right.
