I went there a couple of months ago and the experience is still fresh in my mind. I had passed by on a couple of occasions and the bright display always made an impression on me on an otherwise empty block. Finally I ventured in and I was greeted by everybody in the store. I was overwhelmed by all the various yarns and crochet, having no idea where to begin I went to the front counter hoping for reinforcements. While I was talking to the woman another customer just rudely interrupted to buy yarn that was so much more important. Usually in a situation like that the clerk, in other stores, would quickly point out to the customer she is already dealing with with someone. Instead she ignored my question which was cut off mid stride and took the transaction. That really irked me as I was really interested in taking lessons and possibly buying materials. I ended up buying one ball of yarn, which was intentional as my enthusiasm had waned considerably when no apologies I was usurped by another customer. The clerk tried to talk me into taking lessons and asked me where I was planning to learn knitting. I was very tight lipped as the stores first impression wasn’t a great one! I decided the customer service sucked and was predominately targeted towards jewish customers based on the demographics of the store. I decided to take my money and myself elsewhere. Since then I have purchased many materials from Amazon and steered away potential customers on the basis of my story. I have also taken lessons and am currently finishing a scarf!

Évaluation du lieu : 3 Brooklyn, NY
Small, local shop. When I visited Stitches, it was a Sunday afternoon. The store was packed with little girls and their mother’s learning how to knit. I came for yarn and crochet hooks. I paid $ 18 for 3 skeins of yarn and one crochet hook. The store owner and her husband were very helpful. She helped me pick out a nice soft red yarn and decide which hooks would be the best for my yarn size. They even offer eco-friendly reusable fabric bags for their yarn! It felt very cutesy boutique-ish but it was also out of place for this area of Brooklyn. My sister later on told me that I overpaid for my yarn and hook. :( I don’t think I’ll come back here. I can get cheaper yarn on Amazon.
