They sell expired stale goods. My cookies were over 2 weeks old. They have a disclaimer by the counter to check dates as if with their handmade sign they will no longer be held accountable. Let’s see what the Department of Health thinks of that. Bought on 12÷27÷15, expired on 12÷16÷15.

Always good food when I come in an order there lines are really long around lunch time. Buffet food is always fresh an yummy Usually I double park bc it’s right on 4th Ave an you never find any parking. Prices are so so not to steep, there cold cut sandwiches are amazing.

5 stars, A+! This place is a hidden gem. Not your average deli. The sandwiches are HUGEEEE for such good prices. Heros are just under ten dollars and you can split it with three maybe even four people. Try finding that anywhere else for such a good price. It often times becomes crowded but not that long of a wait. Highly recommend

This place has really bad service. Grill guys are rude– they’ll grunt or briskly motion at you to ask you what you want. They have a short fuse, and don’t like it if you request too many things. The lady at the cash register tends to pull items out of your hand with an attitude as she is ringing them in. Why is service like this acceptable in 2015? We the customers don’t need you as much as you need us! Pretty simple. Thankfully, other places have opened up in Sunset in the past few years. This place is no longer the only game in town.

I have been coming here for years, as I am from the area, and this is by far the best place to get a sandwhich. They are totally the opposite of Subway, who are stingy with the cold cuts and the extras(lettuce, tomato, etc.) this place acts goes overboard and beyond. They give you enough to remove some of the cold cuts and make a second seperate sandwhich. My two issues with them is they do not accept cards and unless you say something the cheese won’t be Boars Head, but those are minute in comparison to the Heaven on a bun which are their sandwhiches!

Part of me wants to say nothing about Sunset Deli, but the other part tells me to share the amazing sandwiches with everyone. After working in NYC for over 26 years I can attest to this being in the top three best sandwiches I have ever enjoyed in the 5 boroughs. Fresh meats, breads/rolls, and care you see as your sandwich is built leave me speechless. Too many great sandwiches to mention, but just order your personal favorites and watch the magic. My favorites; roast beef with lettuce tomato red onion and horseradish(not the mayo type) on a sub. or grilled chicken cutlet, with prosciutto lettuce tomato red onion and sweet balsamic vinegar on a sub.

Long story short be aware of who makes your sandwiches, other than that buffet food is good and there some great sandwiches depending on who makes them.

Easily the best sandwiches in the city. The only place I can get a good hoagie outside of going to Philadelphia or South Jersey. New York doesn’t know how to do sandwiches but this place sure does

Duchess status! I am at Sunset Deli quite often due to convenience — it’s right across the street from work. For those rainy or long days where I can’t step away for too long, Sunset Deli it is, although I have definitely found myself there even on beautiful days — this place is pretty good. They’re highly regarded for their awesome sandwiches. Service around lunch time can be slow but that is expected. It’s also because these master slicers really put effort into crafting the perfect sandwich, which are absolutely gigantic I might add. A tad pricey for sure, but I’m paying for convenience and the sandwiches are solid. They also have a hot/cold buffet priced at $ 5.99/lb which I often frequent. Very huge selection of pretty much the same offerings daily but everything I’ve had has always been fresh and tasty. I think I had lunch here everyday for a week once and did not tire of the food. The owners are quite lively and pleasant which is also nice. Definitely a good choice if you’re in the area, haven’t been already(unlikely) or are tired of eating tacos(it finally happened to me!) Will be back, probably tomorrow.

I can’t believe I never came here… Four years back in Sunset Park before eating here and how I wished I had discovered it sooner! The problem is they close super early, but it saw it open the other morning and ordered a bacon egg and cheese. It was quite possibly one of the best breakfasts I ever had on the go. I saw they had a buffet station set up for lunch time so I will have to try that next time, probably the only buffet in the area!

This is a favorite! The best sandwiches in all of Sunset Park! They have been at this location over 20 years. At lunchtime you have to wait on line to get a sandwich but it is worth the wait

Best deli sandwiches in Sunset, Brooklyn, NYC and possibly the world. One full sized sub can definitely feed two people. They slice their deli meat so thin, it practically melts in your mouth. But, they pile it high. Go there, get a sandwich and take it to the park with a blanket and maybe a beer or two(hidden inside of a paper bag,.of course)

How do I even begin to describe the supremacy of their layered crispy bacon, fluffy eggs and gooey cheese sandwiches? Or the perfect balance of taste, strength and sweet taste in their iced coffee. It’s heaven in caffeinated liquid form. I don’t ever eat from their hot/cold buffet(because the sandwiches are so damn good) but their food always looks fresh and delicious. They make an excellent cup of hot coffee too, but their iced brew is like crack so I tend to stick with the cold stuff when I’m here. Sunset Deli has been around for a very long time because they know what to do and do it well.

Absolutely has to be the best deli in Brooklyn. It really doesnt get better than this. Everything there tastes fresh, all the stuff you order in a sandwich is thinly sliced which oddly makes it taste better, and its so packed its sure to fill you up. Sandwiches are worth every penny. I’m honestly upset that this doesnt have more ratings. It definitely deserves it! I guess its one of those hidden gems. I can dig that though. Dont want it to get too crowded haha. Only downside is they close way too early!

I have been going to this deli since I was in my moms belly, and trust me I knew my mom was feeding myself and her sandwiches from there cause there absolutely the best and we lived right around the corner. Not only do you get fresh delicious cold cuts its like triple stacks! They are not easy on anything when it comes to pounding on that ham or that provolone cheese. The workers are super awesome and the owner is always there working behind the counter and making the best sandwiches, even the lettuce is so crispy cold and fresh when you take a bite out of it. They have a hot and cold buffet which is always super cleaned and fresh and the workers are always cleaning and re filling up the food if its running low. You can enjoy great sushi too they serve and fresh hot soups. I love love this place and I would never enjoy or get better cold cuts and sandwiches from here and you must try the Philly cheese steak too so freaking good! They do close early if your close by for lunch you should def. stop by and you know there good cause there line to order sandwiches, breakfast, hot sandwiches can be pretty long but so worth it! Prices are worth the enjoyment of your meal!
