Tejada Grocery

it’s ok. they have most of the necessities. still mainly for liquor and lottery tickets, though they’re trying to bring it a bit more upscale. it was all I used for a while, until Mr Coco’s started up.

I can’t believe I am reviewing a bodega.
Is it because I am running out of places to review? No, even though my options are dwindling.
It’s because I have an immense amount of respect for the bodegas that get hit (hard!) by Brooklyn tweens on their way to or from school. I was once one of these kids, and let me tell you… we were BAD! I probably stole close to $ 50.00 worth of $ 1.00 cartons of cheap-​o strawberry ice cream, Ding Dongs, Ho hos, bags of chips, Tropical Fantasy… you get the picture. These guys have got it down. The register area is unbelievably empty whenever I arrive, with the horde of children waiting patiently for their bacon egg and chee or their escapist bagels. The ever present children watchers are quietly peering over the trouble makers, making sure that not one product leaves the store unpaid for.
I don’t care what a business smells like (and frankly, what do you expect from a bodega?), I care that I can make it in and out with alacrity, whether I am using the ATM, buying smokes or a quarter juice. Thank you Tejada, for being a miraculously well oiled machine. But Tejada? You should thank god that you didn’t have kids like me around. We were ~crafty~.
