I stopped at this stand in Smörgåsbord when I caught the description of the «Johnnycakes». Corn pancakes with pulled pork, apples and crème fraîche. What a great mix of sweet and savory. I would never think to put these things together but was very impressed by the way they carried this out. Now I know why that beagle is so fat!

Just arrived into NY and this so happened to be my first meal there. Located in the dekalb market, The Fat Beagle makes a meannnn GRILLED CHEESE! I forget what was in it since it was months ago but it was delicious. Gooey, warm orangy colored cheese and a little spice accompanies each bite. You have gotta try their homemade sauces… their chili comeback sauce is killer!
Very friendly lady there as well. Glad I stumbled upon this establishment in NY.

Get:
~johnnycakes (4.5 stars): pulled pork and corn; pulled pork and apples; greens and pimento cheese. This is one my all-time favorite stands at smorg now. Seriously, brings me back to my childhood, with all the rich savory toppings, dash of hot sauce, all on top of slightly sweet johnnycakes. Definitely don’t miss out on this sweet stand at smorg! $ 10 for 3 (what a deal!)
Not too long of a wait here, just a couple minutes for them to assemble your food.
