It’s just a hotdog, but it’s so much more. I had mine with pulled pork on top and some Cole slaw. It wasn’t super filling but it was delectable.

The food is great. They belong to the same restaurant group that owns Peaches, Peaches Hothouse and Dekalb. All in Brooklyn. I ordered my food and it came out in exactly 2 minutes. The Mac and cheese is the best. Brisket is great.

Overall, this restaurant was mediocre. I came here on a not-so-very-hot summer day. Although our waiter was very polite, he forgot about us the entire time. I ordered a chicken entreé, while my fiancé ordered the pulled pork. We were seated by the window, where there were only two other tables. It was a tight spot to get into. There was another couple behind us who were also seated at that time. Their order arrived within 15 – 20 minutes, while we waited about 40 for ours. I wish I can say I would come back here, but unfortunately, I wasn’t as pleased. The food was alright, but not out of the ordinary.

I’ve gone to Smoke Joint since around 2011 and it’s not as memorable or delicious as I always want it to be. Sorry. Either way. I DEFINITELY do not like the wings, hot dog and all the drink recipes on the drinks menu. Always some weird crap and the lemonade — don’t like. What I do LOVE is the location, food wise — beef spare rib, wedge salad, mac and cheese and potato salad(because its different) :). That’s it…

I’ve been here a number of times usually before going to the Barclays center, I’ve always sat at the bar, the food on the menu is a la carte so you can make your own plate here, I had the wings which were tasty, I also had the chicken that came with this sauce that seemed to be a vinegar/mustard based sauce which added a lot of flavor, the potato salad was great as well… the Cajun fries were my absolute favorite, they were a little sweet and savory, it seems like some brown sugar was added which really hit the spot, overall this is a good place with some good bbq at some good prices

One of my friends introduced me to this spot because it is one of her favs. One of the things that I loved about this place aside from the location was the fact that they have an extensive list of bourbons and whiskeys. I’ll have to come back for that action but I ordered the wings. That is literally all that I came here to do. Ah yes, my friend ordered some fries and mac ‘n’ cheese. The fries were, well… fries. They were the medium-sized(between shoestring and steak) and prepared the way a french fry should be. A light crispiness on the outside, soft and piping hot on the inside. I liked the mac ‘n’ cheese but everyone has their preference. You can taste the cheddar in this one. I don’t know if it was the dish or the smell from the place but I think I tasted a hint of smoke in it. Speaking of smoke… I normally enjoy regular, spicy buffalo and/or lemon pepper wings. The Smoke Joint has some big juicy wings but they do a little something extra. They smoke their wings! I don’t think I’ve ever had a smoked buffalo wing before. Well, let me tell you, I definitely appreciated that extra smoke flavor. My only thing is that I prefer my wings to cooked very well done so that they’re really crispy on the outside. The wings were cooked thoroughly but not as crispy as I like, but that’s my fault for not requesting that when I ordered. All I know is that if I’m back in Brooklyn and I’m in the mood for BBQ or wings and bourbon, I’ll be right back at this spot to try some more items from the menu. That Q that I saw the servers bringing to other tables looked and smelled delicious!

Hubby wanted to go to this place on a brisk afternoon. I was game, not a huge barbecue fan but he is. The table for 4 was not a long wait which was great. On to the food orders: My son ordered the joint hotdog with plain fries. We received the barbecue fries and had to send them back, finally got the right fries and he dug in. My son the epitome of a picky eater, ate his plate clean and of coursed boast about doing so My husband and both ordered the pull pork, but i ordered the greens and mac and he ordered the potato salad. I don’t like my pulled pork to be overly saucy, so i like that the pork came without sauce so you could taste the meat and sauce it to your liking. The greens had a little kick, which was nice and the mac wasn’t bad either. Hubby said the potato salad was ok. My toddler enjoyed the pickles, the pork, and fries. I also enjoyed the boozey strawberry lemonade. Overall food and service was good, would come back

Let’s be real. There’s nothing quite like deliciously cooked succulent brisket. Few things are higher on my list when it come to delectable meats. My family often frequents The Smoke Joint, and I’ve been there about 2 times. Each time I go, I get the brisket and mac and cheese. I have to admit, I don’t really understand why other reviews say that the mac and cheese could be better. The only, other, mac and cheese that I know to be better is my own, HOMEMADE, mac and cheese. And honestly, The Smoke Joint’s tastes just as good, it’s really delicious. Ok, enough about the mac and cheese. And back to the main attraction, the brisket. When I tell you that this is the best brisket that I’ve had, I am not kidding. It’s succulent, with a thick smoke ring, and when you add the BBQ sauce it’s mind blowing. MINDBLOWING. I tell you, I often dream about this brisket. It’s that good. Oh! And the Bloody Mary’s are delicious too! Don’t be swayed by the mediocre rating, The Smoke Joint does not disappoint!

This place was delicious! My homegirl and I stopped through after partaking in happy hour shenanigans around the corner, and she swore the food here was good. She was NOT lying. As an STL native, I’m typically apprehensive about places with«St. Louis-style» anything, but their mac & cheese, greens, cornbread, and catfish were pretty good. It definitely wasn’t «St. Louis-style» catfish, but it was pretty good. Next time, I’m going to get the half & half, and probably two orders of the mac. This place is good, though. The food is moderately-priced, and the service is great. Give em a try.

After riding around Brooklyn for 30 minutes my parents and I settled down to come here and devour some delicious bbq. We started off annoyed and sometimes everything can go downhill from there, but on a better note, it definitely didn’t. At the time that we came to dine in a table for 3 was only available in the den area of the restaurant leaving us to melt against the beaming sunlight and the owner did not think it was smart to open the doors. So although we were starving like Marvin and his cousins, we couldn’t thug it out and sit in that area. At that time, we decided to ask the manager if she minds pushing two tables together to allow us to sit down comfortably and eat. SHESAIDYES!(even though we shouldn’t have needed to ask that it should have been recommended to us TUH!) It took a while for our waitress to show us the attention we needed but she did finally get the chance to come over take our orders and explain that she was the only server. Now usually I would call this a person looking for pity, but she did an amazing job with our order I’ll love her forever. I’m all about service, and this girl was right on point with repeating our order back, telling us about the sauces, and helping us choose what was best for our appetite. Food came out in no time and plus we had our drinks to sip on in the meanwhile. This food is delicious! My parents are some southerners so they’re all about ribs and bbq sauce(me not so much). We ordered mac and cheese, collard greens,(3) cornbreads, fries, chopped chicken, chicken wings, half rack of pork ribs and whole rack of pork ribs(YES, WECANEATTTT). EVERYTHING was delicious!(sike, I could do without the fries) Those wings though… AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. I’m not even kidding you. I’ll definitely come back when I need a southern BBQ comfort food fixing!

This place is amazing. This is one of those«hole-in-the-wall places that produces incredible food. I came for a quick bite before a show at the BAM, I ordered the braised brisket sandwich with a side of cornbread. My friend had two hotdogs and the corn on the cob. The brisket was so good, if I remember correctly, I think it’s smoked/cooked for 14 hours and you can definitely tell. It was so tender and had that real, smoky barbecue flavor. There was a good amount of fat on the meat which added to the flavor. The bbq sauce that came with the sandwich was better than the two they have on the table. The cornbread was pretty standard, but the corn on the cob was amazing, it’s grilled/roasted perfectly and topped with some kind of spicy aioli and green onions. I’m glad my friend let me take a bite. For my meal I paid about $ 15(that includes tax + tip). Great barbecue for those prices? Sign me up! The staff was very friendly and very attentive. 10⁄10 do recommend.

I’ve walked by this place a hundred times and always say I’m going to go. I finally made it! I came with a group of friends. Two of us ordered the pulled pork sandwich, one ordered the brisket sandwich, and the fourth, a pescatarian, ordered the catfish sandwich. We also had the baked beans. The pulled pork was pretty good. I love the spicy barbecue sauce on the table. They also have a sweet alternative if you’re not a fan of spice. I love the baked beans. The chunks of pulled pork and sausage were a nice addition. The brisket was a little dry and tough, but not bad when I added sauce. Unfortunately, my pescatarian friend was given the wrong sandwich. After a couple of bites, he discovered a bone that most certainly did not belong to a fish. After 15 years of not eating meat, he had inadvertently eaten chicken. Terrible mistake for the restaurant to make. They were incredibly apologetic. The manager took it off the bill and offered corn bread and collard greens(both fantastic) for the table, but there’s really nothing that can compensate for that sort of oversight. I would give the food 4 stars, but I had to deduct a star for the experience.

Alert: Vegetarian Review This is where you carnivorous crazed people who like to return to your pre-historic roots and gnaw at slabs of meat on the bone can bring your herbivore pals. I know I know, How could a mainly vegetarian, oft pescatarian plausibly rate a rib joint? I’ll tell you how: spicy mango margaritas, vegetarian collard greens, Mac & Cheese. Spouse gets cravings for Beef short ribs every few months — and swears they fall off the bone here. I look at that menu and just imagine large slabs of carcasses served on a plate smothered in sauce. However awhile back, I perused the menu and saw a warning about their mango margarita spice so I had to get one. It was really good and had a real spice kick(though for me it could still be much spicier). THAT was the hook. I then noticed that their collards were vegetarian — got ‘em, loved ‘em. They were well seasoned… Who knew? They usually have bacon in them at most restaurants. Finally the Mac & Cheese. Baked on the outside — gooey in the inside. It was a no brainer. Trust me those two sides will fill you up. I recently had a craving for my spicy drink and sides and stated«let’s go to the smoke joint». Spouse was excited that I initiated his caveman longings… Match made in heaven(since I’m not cookin’ carcasses at home any time soon).

The Smoke Joint delivered! Stopped in here for lunch and I was blown away. The vibe is classic BBQ joint. Sauce on the wooden tables and amazing service. We were greeted right away and they were friendly and helpful. The Pulled Pork and Beef Brisket were PERFECT! Both were tender, perfectly cooked, and juicy. The two sauces, sweet and spicy, were a perfect combination on both sandwiches. The cornbread reminded me of back home BBQ, it was a thick, sweet slab of greatness! I highly recommend this place if you love BBQ like I do!

Really not impressed with BBQ from this spot cause it’s very pedestrian. I had the Mac n cheese, coleslaw and fried breaded shrimp wth aioli. The shrimp were small butterflied n flattened to seem bigger. Just passable but the Mac n cheese was dry really dry. It’s says 4 cheese Mac n cheese that’s a friggin lie. My friend had the ribs with Bed Stuy potato salad. Mind you my friend is from bed-stuy and as soon as he tasted the salad he said it was sour, spoiled. So we flagged the server down and he replaced it with coleslaw but we still got charged for 2 coleslaw he wasn’t even comped being served garbage. Service was good but the food matches the décor. The place looks like crap!!! There is much better BBQ to be found elsewhere.

My office got take-out and we ordered pretty much everything off the menu. So I had the opportunity to sample a LOT from the Smoke Joint. Heard good things and it even made an appearance on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives which hey, is a cool accomplishment. When we picked up our food it was ready on time and they packed everything neatly with utensils, sauces and wipes. The complete package. Sides: barbecued beans, collard smoky greens, spicy french fries, mac and cheese & cornbread Everything on this spectrum was just alright. The cornbread was nicely done(although not the best I’ve had). Just a note — the«spicy» french fries are not spicy at all. In fact, they’re just fries that tasted like bbq chips. I was expecting much more of a kick. And as for the Mac and Cheese, it definitely needed more of a cheesy factor which was lacking. A bit too dry. Meals: chopped bbq chicken sandwich & pulled pork These were much better. My chicken sandwich(mostly bread) was decent and the chicken was very flavorful. I loved the sauces they gave which really added to the dish. Different types that included a honey mustard, bbq and a spicy sauce which I poured over the entire meal. And the pulled pork was solid too. They definitely know how to cook their meat well. It’s possible that I didn’t get the full experience by taking out food. But all in all our meals were good and I was glad I got to sample a variety of items from the menu. Now I know what to order when I go back.

The barbecue and mac and cheese were good. I had the beef brisket, which reminded me of Texas, since it was tender. They were a little slow, especially since there was nobody in the restaurant. I may come back, but I am more interested in trying the Peaches restaurants that they are affiliated with. I also really enjoy Dinosaur BBQ

I saw this place on Diners Drive Ins and Dives so I piqued my curiosity. I ordered the Beef rib, and all I can say was Yaba Daba Doo! Talk about a Fred Flintstone size the red. As a side I had mac & cheese which was phenomenal as well as the mashed potatoes. The mass details were okay nothing to write home about though. Let me get back to talking about the ribs. It is a large portion, so two people can share. They are nice and meaty and smoking too. They serve this spicy barbecue sauce, I have not had barbecue sauce that good since my South Carolina barbecue trail trip. If you were ever in Brooklyn, near the Barclay Center, you should definitely get this place up.

The service is fairly awful,* but I don’t really care because the pork is ever so porky, the vibe is good, and the price is right. The Smoke Joint is a staple of the neighborhood, not in small part because of the perfect location in the small plaza at the intersection of Fulton and Lafayette. In the summer you can sit outside, and in the winter the smell of smoke will pull you inside for a bite. The ribs are decent, and I hear the chicken is on point, but personally I like to get down with their pulled pork sandwich. The juicy meat is piled high on a bun that stands up to the grease, and it’s served with a slightly spicy slaw that you should just put right on top of the pork. They’ve got two sauces on every table to doctor it up: there’s a dark and sweet, and a light and vinegary option… I like to trade off between the two. It’s an affordable and filling meal, and if you aren’t concerned about your health, add on the fries dusted with their house rub. There is actually a surprisingly good selection of bourbon, and the pours are decent. Beware the list of bottled beers, as some of them actually come in a can(Pork Slap, for one). Shocking, I know. _____________ *I find it so tough to tell who works here, but that’s probably by design. If you knew, then maybe they’d have to help you out.
