I will say for a Coney Island coaster this thing is great. I get a Luna park card with credits every year just to ride this ride once in a while. Last year(2015) I spent $ 300 in the season. And this year(2016) I have already used $ 60 and it’s only May! I have a season pass for six flags but I will tell you. This ride is great. A bit painful but for something right here and easily accessible. You just gotta love it! Also there is almost never a line because they operate so smoothly. Only problem. You can’t wait for front row! So keep riding till you get it. Well worth it for the 90 degree drop!

Perhaps the most fun roller coaster I’ve ever been on, and we have been all around the country at parks. Can’t can’t can’t can’t wait to come back and ride the Thunderbolt!!!

havent been on a roller coaster in 8 years, im afraid of heights. i went tonight and had the most awesome exhilaration experience, sadly im dumb and lost my keys on the ride. i spoke to the really nice staff amd they told me i’d have to wait until the ride closed. Douglas and Chris looked through the entire grounds and patiently walked step by step. they found my keys im soo happy. dont bring your keys but if you’re as dumb as me and happen to lose them douglas and chris will probably find them

I love this ride. It is pretty awesome for a CI ride. I went one a breezy day with my friend MARIO :) The ride goes upside down 5 times, and even though the first drop is pretty good, the third drop is the best b/c it is unexpected. A CONEYISLANDMUST!!!

The Trophy Coaster. I am such an old school rider, loyal to the original Cyclone. Patronizing this expensive, flashy, dolled up supermodel felt like the most blatant betrayal. Victims pay $ 5 a minute for novelty. Thunderbolt is no cheap thrill. Keep the kids out of your indiscretion by all means. Riders must be fifty inches tall. This sleek orange lasso is a marvel of Italian art and engineering. Zamperla imported it piece by piece on container ships. It somehow crams 2200 feet of track in a space 48 feet wide. I would have brought along more stuff with me if I knew how easy it was to check things, even a $ 700 phone. You could probably give the girl at the pearly gate a duffel bag, and she will toss it on the floor(too large for the cubbyholes) and give you a numbered elastic wrist band. I rolled my band up to my bicep to make sure it would not fly off during the harrowing ride. Many went barefoot, as flip flops all get tossed in a large bin. I definitely needed sturdy sneakers to at least plant my feet firmly on the ground for two minutes and maintain a death grip on my belt. I was determined not to open my eyes and rely solely on the speed to work its magic. This was a poor idea. You need the visual component. Maybe not on the first descent, but right afterwards. I clearly psyched myself out and went eyes wide shut. The concept is absolute insanity. Straight off, a 90 degree vertical lift up 125 feet before a plunge right back down, also at 90 degrees. I could not bring myself to witness those 250 feet for any amount of money. The other 1950 feet I can work on. Seat, harness and belt look and feel way too flimsy, but evidently met all specs and standards. The souvenir key chain photo, another grand ripoff at $ 8, captures me cowering in my seat while the other eight riders, all teens, are living it up Gatsby style. For those requiring the deluxe ripoff, an 8″ by 10″ photo is available for $ 11. My neck is still feeling whiplash two days later. It was satisfying to check this off my bucket list and confront my fear. I would go back, to test whether I could keep my eyes open for at least a minute. Thunderbolt got the best of me. I am a reluctant fan, but do not believe the hype. The Cyclone, looking great for 89, is still a reliable, cheap domestic thrill. Peroni or Coors, your call.

First this beast is brand new. I saw them build this thing with my own eyes, and that initself is cool, but then I knew I need to ride this beast. A few days after this thing opened I rode it, and it literally kicked my butt. It’s smoother than the Cyclone being that it’s steel track however those loops, and inversions make this coaster a challenge. Are you ready to ride???

This is awesome! A brand new rollor coaster as you would find at Great Adventure and it does not disappoint. Full of high speed thrills, rolling hills, inverted loops, and really fast. The initial 90 degree ascent up the first hill to the starting point is crazy! You almost feel as if you are going to slip out of your seat! People were screaming from start to finish. I almost lost that Nathan’s hot dog I ate after the second loop! I have to say the staff working this ride are very safety conscious. They make sure the ride is operating properly and that everyone is locked down tight. There is also a person who will take any loose items such as hats, keys, sunglasses, cell phones, wallets and secures them in a small locker area by the entrance to the ride. You get a wrist strap with a number on it to retrieve them upon exit. Cost is $ 10 for a single ride. Kind of steep, but worth it to check out a new high speed coaster. Afterwards we walked the length of the ride down the street to to subway. You can tell how sturdy and solidly made this coaster is. Thick steel all the way. It’s also huge and takes up the length of the block. The ride also glides as smooth as silk. Great design and an engineering feat. I am a roller coaster junkie and will ride on anything with speed and loops. The Thunderbolt passed the test. I want to go on again! I rode the Cyclone right before this. An oldie but still a goodie. Still gives thrills as you ride that rickety wood and old steel structure. Compared to the new coaster though I think I have a new fav on Coney Island. Sorry Cyclone, but there’s a new kid in town. Step aside.

In case you didn’t think Coney would ever have another good ride, stand aside and get out of my way. The Thunderbolt rocks! Loop-da-loop, twists, climbs and drops make this ride just the kick in your pants your mama ordered. Yes, please.
