I’ve been doing my laundry here for about a year now. I’ve used their drop off service and also utilized the washers/​dryers in their location. I will say it’s greatly improved since I started coming here in early 2015. They now have wifi, a tv, a working restroom and even free donuts on Sundays! The place is about as clean as you could expect a laundromat to be, so it’s not immaculate or anything. One area of improvement would be the cashier or whoever is working at the time is kind of MIA. Multiple times when I’ve gone in there to pick up my bag there is literally no one at the window to cash you out (or take your bag if you’re dropping off). I’ve been in there doing my laundry and seen others waiting as well. It varies based on who is working though.
Overall, this place is a good place to go if you’re nearby. Super affordable and tons of washers and dryers.

I have been doing laundry here for 6 years. The place has seriously gone down hill. I was in there a few nights ago. I was sitting in a chair in front of the open door waiting for my laundry and a RAT (yes, a RAT) ran into the door from the inside. I screamed of course, and ran out of the place. The young guy working was really nice about it, but didn’t seem phased. I will not be going back to a rodent infested establishment. Never again. GROSS!!!

Do not use the drop off service. As others said, the service is terrible. Clothes came back terrible. Barely folder and messily bagged.
And I tried the shirt service, too. Big mistake. There were staples in the tags and bottom edges of my shirts. Worst laundry ever, unless you’re doing it yourself.

While gathering some laundry the other day, I came across a lone black sock in the corner of my closet. It was the mate to the sock I thought True Clean lost.
They didn’t lose it, I just didn’t include it with my prior laundry bag so I want to publicly announce that it was my bad, not theirs and correct my prior review.

It’s your everyday Laundromat. Lester is a cool guy during the week but the other staff leave something to be desired.
Avoid on the weekends, at all costs. This place get crazy packed and its next to impossible to get a machine.

I have been using True Clean for over 8 years (back when it was 24 hrs and AWESOME). In the last year or so, the place has become a dump. The machines are FILTHY — genuinely filthy. Take a look inside the soap canisters of the washing machines, and there’s all kinds of black gunk (mold?) inside the machines. It’s disgusting. They got some new dryers in the past few months, but somehow, there are still 3 – 5 dryers out of service every time I go in there. HOW IS IT THAT THE NEW DRYERS ARE ALREADY BROKEN? Also, the past two time I used the drop off service, my clothes came back stained — either from colors running onto whites/​lights (amateur mistake) or from some unidentifiable substance which has RUINED multiple items of clothing. I could let a few missing socks go, but the stained clothes is a deal breaker. Please somebody buy this place and return it to its glory.

We are blessed to have a washing machine and dryer in our apartment, so this review is based upon Dry Cleaning services only.
I’ve been coming to True Clean for many years for dry cleaning. The prices are good, and the service, although it’s never been anything to write home about, is ok.
Today I walk in, to get my simple sheath wedding dress dry cleaned (married last weekend.) The train and edges of the dress are stained with dirt. I danced a lot… I also had a small red wine stain on the back of the dress.
I show an older asian man working the desk my dress, and he VERY RUDELY refuses me, shaking his hand, and say «NO-​NO TOO DIRTY!!!» And hands me back the dress. I try to negotiate with him, and he walks away from me! I’m still in shock that I got refused…
True Clean has lost my business, done and done.

Hours are ridiculous. You can check if you want, but you still probably won’t find out the truth. I frankly think they play it by ear a little bit.
Also, more than half of the dryers were out of order when I was there. I got lucky and got my stuff in, but there were a lot of frustrated people with piles of wet clothes sitting dripping in their little carts. Not cool.

I’d been coming here for the past 3 years with no problems ever, but the last 2 times I’ve gone have been super-​annoying. There aren’t any open/​close hours listed on the premises, so the day before I wanted to get up early and do my laundry in the morning, I stopped in to ask what time they’d be open. They said 7, I showed up at 7:15 — not open. Someone finally showed up at 7:45.
Then tonight I went in at 8:15pm, put my clothes in the wash, came back in a timely manner and switched it to the dryer, then returned after my 48 min cycle and THE PLACE WAS CLOSED. Seriously?! The guy working there tonight saw me come in and out and didn’t say a word to me about the fact that he was going to close before my clothes would be done drying.
These kinds of things have never happened to me at True Clean before, but I don’t do my laundry often enough to be ok with the crappy way they’ve been running their business lately.

This is where I do my laundry. I HATE laundry, but I don’t drop it off; if I’ve sorted it & everything, that is the main part of the battle, right? I normally end up taking oodles of dirty clothes– between me & my wife it usually it two huge sacks & then delicates. Prices are competitive; I end up spending about twenty buck, but no sweat. As people have mentioned, the dryers are the problem. I usually get plenty of washing machines but lots of dryers are out of commission, so if you get a couple of machine hogs (you know, the people who put like, one sock in every machine) it can slow to a grind… but that usually doesn’t happen. Just a concern. Oh, important note, too– the change machine only takes $ 20s.

The hours here seem to be in flux. I rushed there thinking I needed to get in before 10 but they stayed open till 2 a.m. (?). Be sure to check.
The good: Lots of newer washers in various sizes, including huge. It’s also clean and near 5th ave eats or the 4th/​9th st. trains (R, F, G) should you want to ride in.
The not so good: At least 30% of the dryers were out of order. Not sure why… they are fairly modern (digital) ones that heat well. I went late on a Tue, so it wasn’t a big deal, but I’d think twice about going there during popular hours. As a side note, their drop off service is .80/​lb
Overall, it’s a bit of a hike from my place, but stays open later than the places that are closer. I’m turning into a «drop off» type, but still like to manage my specialty loads, so this is a new option for when I feel like domesticating after 8 p.m.

Dropped off an ENORMOUS sack of clothes and linens around noon and they were clean, folded and ready to go by 8:30. And all for $ 22. Nothing lost either. I love that they matched up all my socks! Yeah!

I love this place, you always find the perfect weather inside, thats one of best laundromat in the area, I can sit wash and do my work using my laptop, they provide a free Internet access, and you get to have a fresh donuts every Wednesday, the price is great, the staff very friendly, they provide detergent, 7eventhgeneration for good price.

i don’t know why true clean only has 2.5 stars — i love this place. sure, there are always broken washers and dryers, however, this has literally never been a problem for me, since it’s never packed enough that you can’t just use a different one. the guy who owns it is super nice and always remembers me when i go in. a load of laundry costs 2.25 and dryers cost .25 for 7 minutes. all told, i only end up spending 3.50 for a whole load of laundry… also, there’s a decent chinese place next door in case you get hungry. two thumbs up for true clean.

No complaints about this no-​frills laundromat. There are always «out of order» dryers, but I’ve never had to wait. The drop-​off service is reasonable (80 cents a pound), and they’ve never lost any of my clothing. I typically opt for self-​service, though. Head’s up – this used to be open 24 hours, but they now close at 11 pm as of this week.

I used to come here all the time as it is on the way to the subway station for me and the prices were fair. I think once in a while they lose some socks and one time i found a sock that wasnt mine but wutevers not a big deal.
The deal breaker for me is that this laundrymat refuses to take any responsibility for their actions. I dropped off a jacket for drycleaning and the fur lining on the hood came back Burnt? I was passed off by the manager to the owner who passed me off to the dry cleaners that they use who refused to pay for any damages. Long story short, i no longer go there anymore. Do business w/​them at your own risk.
