Zen Vegetarian House

Food is always so fresh and delivered hot to the door. I’m not a vegetarian but find myself ordering from here rather than any other Asian restaurant. I got the chicken fried rice and this is my third time ordering the veggie dumpling soup. So good! I feel good about eating this and the prices are really great, too. Happy to have this in the neighborhood.

Been ordering from seamless and boy is this food delicious!
Best thing is that they have soy ice cream shakes. I love ice cream shakes and it didn’t even melt because they have such a speedy delivery service.
Just tried the chicken nuggets and they are literally to die for. The nuggets are huge, crispy, and tasty. They inspired me to write this review so that the world could know about them.
Also the delivery is super fast I would say I like about a 15 minute car ride from this place and it literally takes only about 30 minutes most times to get here which makes me very happy.
Everyone should give this place a try, your meat eating friends would be pleased as well.

Now, I know and understand that we are suppose to give tips to the driver. But this week, I couldn’t because I’m not paid in time and I barely made enough this month for rent. So I couldn’t give the man a tip through SeamLess, a food delivery app.
Already feeling super guilty and broke and poor as hell, the driver starts to barge into my apartment and demanding a tip. I said that I don’t have cash because I obviously ordered it with my freaking card and I couldn’t afford to tip the man this time.
I have ordered from this place more then 20 times.
This is not acceptable. The man should not ever try to barge into my home just for tip.
I have called and complain and hope that this problem is solved with the delivery man.

I order from here on Seamless regularly enough. The description says «healthy,» which I disagree. Vegetarian? Yes. Healthy? Absolutely not.
Their mango soy protein is super tasty. I’d stay awake from the lemon chicken lunch special. It’s a fried yam like tempura. Love their spring rolls and wonton soup. Speedy delivery as well!
I’d give it a try if you want Asian vegetarian food, but I reiterate, not healthy.

Initially I was so happy to find this place. Over time the quality of food isn’t as consistent but still the best vegetarian establishment in the area that delivers. Biggest CON is delivery time!

If it’s a delivery check your order before they leave!!! I ordered the mango chicken and paid extra 5 bucks to add black mushrooms. I was looking to enjoy dinner and to my surprise they forget the rice. Omg what’s Chinese without rice or noodles. No worries I said I’d give them a quick call and they will be there in a jiffy. Ring ring ring. Hello you forgot my rice. Omg she says we will send it right over. Guess what I’m still waiting for my dam rice 2 hours later. So I’m packing up their food up and u will be taking it back in the morning… Let’s see how that goes.

I used to really love this place but the quality of the food has gone down. Entrees are a bit on the greasy side and depending on the delivery guy you get, they can be a bit rude and/​or and impatient. I’ve opted for other vegetarian restaurants in the neighborhood with better customer service and better food.

I love Zen! I’m literally always craving their food. Its amazing that they have such a large vegetarian menu and everything that I’ve ordered from them has been delicious. For entrees I recommend the curry soy, the sweet basil soy, and the mango soy. The texture & flavors are great, and trust me, i wasn’t into «substitute meat» until I tried Zen. Now I can’t get enough. The «chicken» nuggets are so good, they have batter fried AND bread crumb friend. Both are delicious and the orders are a good size. For appetizers you gotta try the scallion pancakes, the fried dumplings, and spring rolls.
Delivery is fast and they never get my order messed up! Woop! Veggie Party!

I first fell in love with Zen for their delicious soy ice cream shakes (pistachio for the win!). Then recently I decided to sample some of their meat substitutes. Am I ever glad I did. Even after their commute to my apartment, a journey during which many foods become unbearably soggy, the soy chicken nuggets were crisp and crunchy and tasted amazing. Couldn’t even tell it wasn’t real chicken. The beef, while it lacked a distinctly beefy flavor and was instead reminiscent of slightly spicy sausage, had a nice texture nonetheless and was an interesting choice I’m glad I tried. The vegetables tasted fresh and were also still a bit crunchy, with the perfect amount of sauce. And the spring rolls are tasty too, but that’s nothing new. I think this place just became my new go-​to! Plus everyone there is super nice :)
Tip: They also currently have cheesecake by the slice, but it’s not on the menu.

The food in this place is OK but no where near worth having to deal with their stupid delivery guys. They charge extra for the delivery, plus I add a to but THEY WILL NOT DELIVER TO YOUR DOOR, even though I live in a pretty safe neighborhood. I keep buzzing them in but they won’t do their stupid job. SPARE YOURSELF THE AGGRAVATION. Not the first time this happened either. I had not ordered from them in a few months because of it and sad to know they’re still doing the same thing. This was a different guy because the first two times it was a chubby middle age man and this one was a lot younger. Maybe it’s the restaurant policy. Who the hell knows. Just don’t do it!

Mixed veggies with rice noodles was awesome. Spring rolls were a little bit too breaded.

Well one of the old time place I like to visit and if you don’t like meat much then this a good place to start

Wow. I just had the fastest delivery ever. I placed an order via Grub Hub and had to cancel and reorder. My food was delivered within 10 minutes. Just wow I never even saw the delivery guy lol.
Other than that. The food is delicious and this is coming from a non– vegetarian. Try the soy nuggets if you are a newbie.

The food was delicious! I’m not a vegetarian and I loved every bite. Didn’t even taste like tofu, however, I did notice the different consistency.
The restaurant itself looks like a Chinese take out joint. There’s small tables to dine but, I noticed most orders where to go. Very dim lighting inside but, it appeared clean and welcoming. The staff was very nice…
The chicken nuggets everyone seems to enjoy was blah for me. They seemed rubbery and a bit tasteless.
The mango chicken and the curry chicken was ALL DAT!!!

I am not a vegetarian and this dish made me forget I liked meat. This dish is outstanding.

For someone who is newly vegetarian I am so glad we have this place in the neighborhood! This is an all vegetarian Asian fusion restaurant. They have a few chairs inside for sitting down but it’s best as a takeout joint.
I order from here about once a week. Yes I am in love with the mango chicken just like everyone else on Unilocal is! The veggie dumplings are perfect! They have a nice light filling and and very light spinach dough encases these perfect little dumplings.
They’re is the option of either white or brown rice to accompany the meals. The general tso is wonderful and so is the sesame chicken. As you can see I am working my way through the menu and I am happy to do it as well. We haven’t been disappointed yet!
Service is lightning fast and they are always so pleasant when you call them. They were also nice enough to deliver multiple times during the snow. I love this place! Try it out and you will too!

Yummmm! :) This place makes fantastic American Chinese food. I’ve had the standard chicken and broccoli, general tso, vegetable dumplings and all taste pretty awesome.
My favorite is the curry chicken.
Highly dislike their duck dishes, the consistency of the meat is just very weird, like biting into wet cardboard but every restaurant has their hits & misses.
Overall, great affordable food and friendly staff.
TIP: If you’re going to order for pick up, do add 15 – 20 minutes to whatever time frame they give you. They are usually always super busy (dozens of receipts on their counter) especially on weekends!

I’m glad that I’m within their delivery zone. The delivery guys are courteous but here are a few dishes I would not recommend —
1. Stay away from the Pad Thai noodle dish. I guess it’s impossible to make an authentic Pad Thai without fish sauce but Zen House please don’t replace the savory dish with vinegar and TONS OF SUGAR ! I almost choke to death after first bite and thought I had accidentally ordered a dessert noodle plate.
2. I would not order the General Tso or Sweet and Sour dish. Maybe it’s just me but if you like SUGAR sauce in your dinner plate then these dishes will serve you well.
So what are the reasons for giving them 3 stars as opposed to 2 or 1?
1. Fast delivery & Great manner.
2. Cheaper price (and faster delivery) than Dao palate.
3. Stir fry dishes taste pretty good and Thank Goodness no thick and shiny and gluey sauce.
4. Good portion size.
5. Love their fried appetizers — chicken nuggets and Salt & Pepper chicken (It’s fried. What’s not to love ?)
Will I order from Zen regularly? Well, I’m not a vegetarian but I’ll order from them when I 1) am really hungry, 2) am lazy to cook, and 3) really want to save another live chicken for the day !

Ah, Zen Vegetarian House. This place is awesome.
Let me start with why I detracted one star: In the Mango Chicken dish they include the skin of the mango, but often times the sticker is still on the skin… why include the skin anyway, kinda gross.
But overall, every dish here is great. I fooled all of my meat eating friends into thinking it was real chicken. You don’t have to be a vegetarian to love this place. Also, as a vegetarian you won’t have to convince your mind and tongue to enjoy the soy protein substitute. The sauces taste way better than traditional Chinese places. The prices are so-​so, not cheap but not expensive, and delivery is pretty reliable.
Final Verdict: Definitely worth a try!
