There are things I don’t want to hear or see when I’m getting my hair did, even at a bargain chop shop like Fantastic Sam’s. I don’t want to see the stylist’s kid running around the salon like a wilding. I don’t want to hear stylists complaining about their pay checks. I don’t want to sit ignored for ten minutes waiting to get checked in. Sadly, I witnessed all of this at not-so-fantastic Sam’s today. Annette did a decent job — I simply needed a few inches off and some layers shaped back into my hair. However, I asked for a cut, style and blow dry. I got a cut and shampoo, and a hurried one at that. I was a walk-in, so I didn’t expect much. But I did expect the stylist to listen and not have to worry about her kids in the shop. I wasn’t impressed, either, with the other stylists — cranky, not in a real hurry to upsell. They lost out on a gloss treatment — like it was too much effort. Price was reasonable though — $ 14.95 for cut and shampoo. Would have been happy to pay more for style and dry as I had requested. Maybe she was in a hurry? Just overall not a great experience. So not fantastic!
