Mel’s Diner

Went here about 10 years ago && had the butterfly shrimp and loved it. Went back to Mel’s just a couple days ago && ordered the shrimp (haven’t been here in years)
Shrimp gets to my table and its breaded shrimp !!!
Like why would I pay 13 $ highest price on menu for some fake shrimp that I can get at Wal Mart for 7 bucks!!!
Very upset. Won’t be returning. Fries were not good.
Gumbo was okay not the greatest.

Great breakfast food. Huge portions. Very inexpensive. What more could you ask for? Loved the pancakes and cajun omelet. Bustling place.

Nothing to complain about. Food was really good, and the service was excellent!!! Had the pancakes, and I must say, they’re better than IHOP!!! And those biscuits… You have to try them… Best biscuits I ever had!!! Definitely will come back here, when in the area again!!!

Mels diner is pretty good they cook to order so it may take a little longer to get wat you want but i can promise its well worth the wait my fav. is the homemade hamburgers & fries

Ate here a couple of times and it was very good. Great hamburger steak and red beans. The breakfast here is also very good. Plan on visiting this place regularly. The service can be a little slow, but the food is worth it.

Ok I can eat a lot of food but at Mel’s I order a chicken strip dinner and it came with 5 strips large fries smashed potatoes salad and bread for 9 bucks everything was hot and fresh. All I can say now is don’t pass them up good food make u want to nap after

Mother day disaster… brought my wife and son here for Mothers day and who’s meal do they mess up on. My wife’s meal of course then the waitress more or less tells my wife it is her fault she got the wrong food. The waitress takes it back, now she ignores our table. When my wife’s food comes back they have simply picked the mushrooms off of the bacon and cheese omelet she ordered. I brought this to the attention of the man who «runs» the place. He simply took it off the bill and no intention of listening to me complain. Neither he nor the waitress apologizes even once. Pathetic, I will not return.

Traveling through this area of Broussard LA the catchy lights of Mel’s caught my eye!
Quickly I Unilocaled… Ok two good reviews, am I safe? I guess I will find out…
Friendly server helped us out… I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and an iceberg salad… I guess iceberg is big in Louisiana… Huge portion
Next… A dish called the Hamburger Steak with brown gravy and fries… Pretty much something I am glad to have met… Hamburger meat stuffed with green peppers and onions, slopped with brown gravy and a nice helping of shoestring fries…
This place is a trip, it has a drive thru for the diner food and a small closet sized casino. If I’m ever in Broussard LA again (highly unlikely) I will make a stop at Mel’s Diner!!!

Staying across the street, so proximity played a role in the choice, but the food was great. Had the shrimo po-​boy and it came out stacked high. Quick and clean, the owner seats the guests, service was quick and friendly.

Pulled in off the highway after trying another diner down the road. That place sucked so we left. Pulled in here & it was night & day! Quick, efficient service. Clean surroundings & huge portions! Would definitely visit again!

Best spot to just chill and eat. Service is wonderful if you can get an awesome waitress. Service is usually horrible with new servers but that’s expected. I definitely do keep coming back for more :) Do not go during the drunk rush if you are sober cause omg they are ridiculous out there I am just a quick eater. Eat and shoot no wait nothing. Good home cooked meals but kinda wished most wasn’t from a can.=\
