I used to live in the area for several years. 2003 – 2009. I never bothered to come in because I felt there was always somewhere else to go, either on Central or on Ruben M. Torres. Years passed, I moved away, and whenever I went back, I had my ‘go-to’ joints in Brownsville that I can’t get anywhere else in Texas.(Looking at you, Ernie’s and Rutledge’s) Even the chain stores, I had my favorites. Whataburger on 802. The B-dubs on Paredes Line. This past winter break, though, I chanced upon this place at the recommendation of a friend. «Oh, that’s always been there,» I said. «Never had it.» «Let’s go, then!» I resisted at first, because I’m stubborn, and I knew I could get my Brownsville style wings at the B-dubs literally like 5 minutes away. But I was outvoted and we came here. And I’m glad we did. There’s nothing much to the menu. You could write it all down in a post-it. But simplicity is usually the best, and this place has some damn good wings. Yeah, you won’t get the Mango Zest Zingy Pepper Lime or whatever other combinations Buffalo Wild Wings has. But you’ll get buffalo wings. Or bbq wings. And they’re going to be good. They won’t be all-sauce, no bread like B-dubs or all-bread, little-sauce like Wing Stop. They’ll be perfect. And those lemon pepper fries? Man, they’re awesome. So, I may have only gone there once, but now every time I go back, I will be sure to stop there.
