Brunswick, Maine — Day 15 of «DUSA Tour» 2016(Discover USA Tour) 1st meal-of-day … The«Brunswick Diner» 1947 era was pretty good … My «Billy Holiday» veggie & eggs was tasty-riffic About 10 menu items with celebrity names is a «Run-A-Way Bill» Favorite … I was told coffee cups hanging on hooks were«regular» customer cups(not sure of response, kinda felt like a «don’t ask me silly questions!» response) … The service was O-K, but not the«Maine-ly» Nice I am used to being spoiled with … «Been There, Seen It, Done It!» but not sure I would do it again with all diners in Maine to choose from … #RunAwayBill #DUSATour2016 #Maine-ly #Diner «Run-A-Way Bill» was here! 05.27.16

Myself and husband enjoyed the lobster Boursin cheese omelette. Staff was awesome. We’ll definitely eat here again when we visit.

The breakfast was excellent and the staff was friendly. I had the chili omelette with pepper jack cheese, and raisin bread. My sister had a spinach and avocado omelette with brie cheese, and home-made wheat bread. There may be only one waiter or waitress on staff, so don’t be in a hurry to get your meal. If you want that, there is a McDonald’s and Amatos across the street! Like a couple of other people have also said, we have driven by many, many times but have never stopped in. The Diner is not fancy on the outside, and even less fancy on the inside. It is clean but is dated, and that is part of its character. If you want glitz and a fancy table cloth, you’ll want to go elsewhere. The Brunswick Diner reminds me of simpler times.

I have been living in this area for about two years and have driven by this place over and over again. Finally decided to stop this past Saturday for a late night dinner after going to the movies. My wife and I found a seat at a booth and I was surprised of how friendly and prompt the service was. We both ended up ordering the same thing, The Funky Chicken. It’s a chicken salad sandwich served with bacon onion cheese on toasted bread. It was perfect but not as perfect as their fries. Their fries were what I consider protection. Crispy on the outside but soft potato on the inside. This place impressed us so much we actually returned the very next day for lunch. Which was equally as impressive as the dinner the night before. Remember to bring your cash as this place does not accept any other form of payment.

Came here for a late night meal during the wee Sunday hours. The waitress was polite, attentive and knew the menu well. The food arrived quickly. I can’t believe I haven’t been here sooner. The menu is extensive with classics, originals and daily specials. They have breakfast lunch dinner and dessert. They are open 24 hours Friday and Saturday only. Don’t forget it’s cash only. The funky chicken salad sandwhich was wonderful. Fresh chicken and mayo topped with bacon and Swiss cheese, served on grilled Texas toast. The French fries were deep fried perfection with such crisp exterior and soft potato filling. I can’t wait to come back for more wonderful meals such as the captain crunch French toast.

The two stars are solely for the food. Solid diner food, good portions. However. Be prepared to be told that whatever it is you want was«just ordered by that guy over there» or «just ran out.» It doesn’t matter if it’s lunch on Tuesday, dinner on Friday or Sunday brunch. Further, the servers seem put out by having to actually serve, disappear into the back for large amounts of time, or let«that guy over there» know how mad you were when, yet again, they don’t have what you want. If you don’t mind terrible service or servers with an attitude, go enjoy a cup of chili. That is, of course, if you can actually get your hands on one.

We stopped in after reading some reviews on Unilocal and being only a few blocks away when we got hungry. This is really a diner with the old décor and even cracked vinyl seats in the booths. There are only 6 booths and a lunch counter. The waitress was friendly and efficient. We had the lobster roll. It was tasty with lots of claw and other chunky meat. The coffee came in a mug as expected from a diner.

Nice little find on our pit stop to get gas! Lobster roll & fish & chips(& coleslaw) were excellent. Any place with a cute outside seating area always gets an extra point in my eyes too.

We were all set to have our yearly breakfast at THIS diner. Due to medical issues(back problems) we were all set to wait for a booth. As it so happened a booth was getting ready to depart when a waitress said to the server«these two(people sitting at the counter) have the next booth and, pointing to another couple, these have the next after that». I’d like to note that there were NO counter spots available for two people on the same side of the diner(only 2 open period). In every other small diner if it is a weekend or busy the common«Diner Etiquette» is to wait for a booth or sit at the counter WITHOUT jumping to a booth. Also, each of the couples had been served beverages and had utensils in front of them indicating they were staying at the counter. We were not the only couple to leave within 2 minutes of hearing the news. Wow Miss Brunswick. Thank you for nothing. Why use this method? You were clearly losing potential customers left and right due to this tactic. The sad part is that we would have gladly waited IF those couples at the counter were subject to the same hospitality we were.

A little bit of nostalgia – good olé diner! Went for breakfast, had the Chubby Checker. Sausage and Pancakes were delicious, so inexpensive to boot.

The food was good, service was ok, I felt like I was being rushed when my order was taken, the waitress/cashier seemed overwhelmed with the breakfast crowd. I would not go out of my way to go here but if your nearby and want some inexpensive home type cooking I would give this place a shot.

Cool atmosphere, but that’s where it ended for me. To be fair, we were there in the off season, but the lobster roll was pretty mediocre. The service was fair, but all in all a pretty unremarkable experience.

Loved it — all the items great. We were just saying how many breakfast places can’t make a decent omelet, but they did a great job. They ‘toast’ the English muffins by grilling them — absolutely delicious. A little drafting in the cold winter — but a sweater takes care of that.

My mother and I stopped at this little diner because it was close to our hotel. I’m soooo glad we did! The food was really good, especially the strawberry shortcake! Our waitress was awesome too! All in all a good place to grab a meal!

I really like the lobster roll here. It’s fantastic. The breakfast is good too. I can speak to the blueberry pancakes from experience. I also went here at 2:00 am and the food was fantastic. The people who run the place make it super fun. Of note — this place is cash only and you can’t save tables. There is an ATM on site so you are good to go. I give it 5 stars for the quality of the fish, and the service.

I always thought this was called, «Miss Brunswick Diner,» not«Brunswick Diner,» which is the actual name. Not a big deal, other than I’ve driven by this place for 25 years – you’d think I could get the name right. Great local diner; like most of these holdovers from another time(they opened in 1946 in a converted rail car) serving basic food without frills, Brunswick Diner is a Brunswick restaurant institution. My experience with their food has been two occasions where my wife picked up a lobster roll and brought it home. She in fact, used to avoid eating inside due to the booth’s having ripped upholstery, which she disliked. Somewhere over the past couple of years, all the booths have been reupholstered, so we opted to eat-in this time. Cute, but small. Difficult to make your way up and down the rail car without turning sideways. I’m not fat, but I am 6’3″ and 210 pounds, so I felt a little claustrophobic inside the car. Having said that, Brunswick Diner is the classic diner and if that’s your thing, don’t care about things being perfect(like ketchup containers not having a maple syrup residue on them), or service is no issue, then The Brunswick will be fine for you. My wife had the lobster roll, which they advertise outside on a banner as «Maine’s Best Lobster Roll.» It is not, but it’s a decent one. My wife really liked it; I prefer the lobby roll at Cameron’s, two miles away, on Bath Road. My turkey, bacon club sandwich was good. The wheat bread was perfectly toasted, the turkey(five slices) was ample, the bacon crispy(as I like it), and just the right ration of mayo, lettuce, and tomato. Oh, and they quarter it, which is a nice presentation for a club sandwich. The sandwich comes with fries and a pickle. They are frozen, crinkle-cut fries, and nothing spectacular. I also ordered a cup of their clam chowder. A little too«watery» for my preferences, and the flavor was a bit off. Filled with minced clams, with a fair amount of potatoes, but I’ve definitely had better clam chowder. We split a slice of lemon cream pie. They’re pies all sounded good, as they had Boston cream and pumpkin pie on the menu, too. The pie was just«OK.» Keep in mind that they don’t take credit cards, so come with cash in hand. The Brunswick serves breakfast all day; they also are open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday, which I’m sure is a hit with the Bowdoin College party set. It might be cool to grab a late-night burger sometime, which is a nice option to have if you live outside of greater-Portland, when most towns roll up the sidewalks around 8:00 pm.
