I had a fun time here! They charge cover but it’s not too bad. Drinks were strong and the music was good! Visiting from Houston I didn’t know what to expect but had a great time with great friends! I would go back. BTW, we were there on Saturday night. I can’t speak for any other night. It had a decent crowd on Saturday night.

If I’m in the mood to get my dance on, Halo’s where I go. I love the drag shows. Everyone’s welcome as long as they’re old enough to get in. Inexpensive cover(charged after 10:30 pm). Drinks are about what you’d expect in a club. I’d just rather they didn’t allow smoking.

When Halo first open back in 2004 it was a dirty fun sexy gay Homo hook up bar. I had lots of wild fun sex with lots of different boys. Then I met the dude that would turn out to be my husband we were married this August in New Mexico. We are 10 years older now and secure and settle down thanks to Halo for meeting the love of my Life there. Also check out the upstairs men’s room the urinal is fantastic.

Ehh this place is fun depending on the company you keep. The drag shows are a hot mess! I mean I didn’t expect much to begin with. Ceaser is the best DJ for this club. He’s the Saturday DJ but I think he should be the permanent DJ for the whole weekend. The number one thing I wish would change is people being allowed to smoke in this bar. It’s so nasty and when you get home you totally smell like you’ve been dancing in an ash tray.

Sad day for halo. If you want to be shoved and threatened by an angry owner, then I guess this is the place to go. Otherwise, take your money elsewhere. My closest friends and I have been returning customers for years now and have always had a blast and felt comfortable to be ourselves here until tonight. After shoving aside my friend, the owner Jeffery– which we had no knowledge of until after– proceeded to yell at another one of my friends for scooting a couch back, in a very rude manner, cussing, and did not even inform my friend that he was the owner. Needless to say, we will no longer be returning to this club. It’s sad to see immature behavior from someone who owns a place that is a safe haven for many gays in this very conservative community. Get your shit together Jeffery.

To begin with this place is more or less a joke of a club. I frequent here with my gay friends every so often because at times NG can be rather hostile. I do not like the fact that I have to be charged 5 bucks at the door for entry, even though I am 22. Alcohol… talk about expensive!!! For the selection that they have and the quality of drinks, you would expect more reasonable prices. 24 dollars for 2 shots is absolutely ridiculous. Lastly the management team is probably the most piss poor group of people to crawl into the B/CS area. Verbal abuse, physical threats, and a general disdain for humanity is but a few of the problems that plague those«humans». I look forward to seeing another club open up in this area so that this prime location can be put to decent use.

Great place to hang out no matter what your sexual preference. Only place to dance your butt off in this town! Great people, great atmosphere, great vibe.

They are serious about the«no shoes, no service». Was walking around downtown Bryan barefoot, stopped in for a beer and was kicked out for not wearing shoes. Have heard the bartenders don’t wear shirts so it didn’t seem inappropriate to me. Whatever.

Only place in BCS where I can really dance my ass off. Located away from the Northgate scene, Halo feels like it should belong on 6th Street along with places like Malaia or Kiss&Fly(but obviously not as big). The lights are good, the music(techno/techno-ey pop) is right down my alley, the drinks are strong, the drag shows are fun, and the shirtless bartenders are ohsonice to look at… err I mean talk to. Only a couple minor downsides: $ 5 cover for everyone every time we’ve been(not bad but very few bars charge cover in BCS) and drinks are more expensive compared to other BCS bars. Just a small price to pay in exchange for the kind of atmosphere that you won’t be able to find anywhere else in this small town.

Went to this place a couple of times now when ever I was in College station. As far as bars go the price of the drinks is a little steep. Especially since North gate is only a ten minute drive away, however, north gate doesn’t offer the scenery that halo does. The inside space is beautiful with well appointed bathrooms, and TVs everywhere. Who ever decorated this place deserves a plaque. The first time I came the music was awesome here, but this last time not so much. Also, I don’t like children, and there were a ton of little kids running around pretending to be of age. By that I mean, I do not like to be around people under the age of 21, and even that is a little young! But for the most part they all stayed upstairs where the music was the loudest, so I didn’t get«the itch» from my youth phobia downstairs. All in all a great trip. I’ll try and make it back when next I’m in town Halo.

Honestly, I have no complaints about this place. I have only been a couple of times, but Halo is quickly becoming one of my favorite nighttime hot spots. I know plenty of heterosexual people have reservations about going to gay bars, but it’s an experience that everyone should have at one point or another. The point is that Halo is an all-inclusive, open-minded place to be. Halo is really the only quality dance club in the Bryan/College Station area. I love to dance, and the DJs there really know how to mix and match their melodies(did you catch that alliteration?). Seating is adequate, the bartenders are great to talk to, and they are generous with the alcohol. Now, the drag shows deserve some serious commendation. I’ve been to a few drag shows in a couple different places, and they were mediocre, at best. Halo is nothing short of entertaining when it comes to drag.

As other reviewers have mentioned below, Halo is hands-down the best bar in Bryan, gay, straight, whatever. When my husband and I go to visit his parents who still live in Bryan, this is always our Friday night spot. Drag shows every Friday at 11:30, and the cover is usually around $ 5, which is way better than I can say for any of the gay bars in Austin. Plus, because Halo is such an awesome joint, they book great drag queens from all over Texas to stop by and perform. I love the giant projection screens on the top floor that help me shamelessly shake my ass to Britney, Beyonce, and Madonna. Only at the gay bar can a girl truly get down. I can also vouch for Lee AND my husband and say that as straight folks, this place has never made us feel weird or unwelcome… to the contrary! We even brought his mom here on her birthday for a drag show, and she was treated like a, uh, queen! :) My only complaint is that because most of the action goes on on the second floor, the two bartenders who man that bar can get pretty deep«in the weeds» and it may take a good 5 minutes to place an order. But once you do get that drink, Honey, hang on!

Man, I really can’t compete with Lee S.‘s review — I know hetero guys have their fears about going to gay bars, whereas straight girls revel in any kind of bars, so I can’t comfort the former — but man, I love this place. I’ve only been once, meeting up with a couple out of town friends and some locals: a BLAST. Good dance music, sparse furniture upstairs so that it’s mostly dedicated to dance floor; the couches & the good lighting(not bright, but good for carrying conversations in) downstairs lend the lounge-y feel a good vibe — but the bartender we had that night. Man. Changed my life forever, how? Three words: Dirty Girl Scout. Like a liquid Thin Mint AND alcohol. What gets better than that?

Halo, also commonly known as «The Gay Club,» is probably the ONLY club I can physically stand being in. Tastefully decorated with plenty of comfortable sofas for seating and a well-lit dance floor, it’s never too loud that I can’t hold down a conversation with people, and the bartenders won’t skimp on the alcohol. If you’re heterosexual and wondering if this is the right club for you, just go try it out. As a straight guy, I’ve never felt awkward or out of place, and I can strongly vouch for how clean the place is. It gets a little too smoky for my tastes right around midnight, but that really only applies to the second story. The downstairs bar always seems to feature far fewer smokers. Also, if you’re a guy, you just can’t leave Halo without visiting the second story restroom. There are few joys that can compare with peeing on a waterfall.
