I live walking distance from BMB, and being a senior at Nova, make frequent trips there. There’s nothing too special about Bryn Mawr Beverage from the outside. Simple brick walls, and sometimes they have some Fat Tire cardboard cutouts outside of the entrance. I am almost always greeted when I walk in and asked if I need any help. It’s usually a young guy in his mid 20’s, and I’ve never seen anyone else besides him. Selection is pretty great. They have a refrigerated section and a non-refrigerated section for different types of beers and malt bevs. Every time I’ve walked in with a craving, I’ve left with what I was looking for. Prices are… well, it’s Pennsylvania. Don’t expect to pay anything but what the rest of the stores are selling it for. Also, you will get carded. If you’re underage, don’t even bother because you’re either going to lose your fake or have to deal with some really awkward denial. Good stuff!

As good as it gets for a beer store. Great selection of craft brews, friendly knowledgeable staff and a great location.

I am a frequent customer of this beer store and I’m a big fan. The people are knowledgable about the beer and will help you find something to suit your taste. The owner does a good job of stocking great seasonals and specialty beers. He also puts beer on sale to clear room for the next season. You don’t often see discount craft beer in Pennsylvania. I’m on a first name basis with Mary and I enjoy talking with her and the other folks who work there when I stop in. If you’re not 21, go somewhere else. Mary doesn’t stand for bologna.

I’d have to agree with the fellow who says the customer service here is terrible. We must have been rung up by the same grouchy cashier with a bad attitude. I bought a variety case here once, with no major issue. I was a bit put off by how expensive it was(in retrospect, some of this can be attributed to the high price of beer in PA in general. I am used to going to a 6-pack or single shop out west and paying lower per-bottle prices than here) and how most items were not labeled with a price; neither was there a price list readily available. So I grabbed what looked like a reasonably priced variety pack and was on my way — I was in a hurry to at least get something for a gathering with friends. Anyway, I made the mistake of returning with the intention of shopping a bit. Now I am not sure how main-line snobs or east-coasters generally buy beer, but out west where I come from, you pick a price range and compare the beers in that price range that suit your fancy until you find one to take home. However, the lack of pricing on ANYTHING made this nary impossible. I asked if there was a price list I could look at, and the lady behind the counter looked at me like I had asked if they carry Kazakh fermented horse urine, and made some snip at me about how I should know what I am looking for before I come in, and how a price list isn’t going to help me decide. Admittedly, this was last summer, so they could have changed. I only can hope that they have hired a more polite staffer. However, with The Beer Shoppe in Ardmore, and the friendly and relatively less expensive Ardmore Park Beverage so close by, there is no need to put up with rude service and bad prices.

Best kept secret on Main Line! Bryn Mawr Beverage has a HUGE selection of craft beers, not just your everyday breweries either. The day I was there they had just received some Russian River Brewing Consecration. At a price tag of over $ 200, I’m gonna have to wait for my stimulus check on that one(anybody wanna split it?). Being a Hop Head, their IPA selection gives me goose bumps. Its a short time before they are taking pre-orders on the limited supply specialty beers, like the Beer Yard does. But, in the meantime you can get those beers without the hassle. Who knew that it would be easier to get a Nintendo Wii, than a case of Troegs Flying Mouflan.

totally disagree. bmb has always been great. mary is awesome! she always went out of her way to help me and the college boys out. mary and the rest of the gang will always have a spot in my heart. if your looking for great service, cold beer and the occasional beer poster give away — Bryn Mawr Bev is the spot.

Not sure what«josh b.‘s» problem is, i’ve always had a great shopping experience here. It’s clean, well lit, easy to find the styles I like. Great selection of micro’s and imports and always willing to order something if i want a special beer. they also have given me a free sample or two to try if they think i might like something, so obviously they’re knowledgeable about the beer and the customers. When i do get a keg there, they always make it clear that the rental is for one week on the tap, in fact i think i had to sign an agreement to the effect of after one week you lose three dollars a day, which is understandable, the keg is only going to last a day anyway. Unlike Josh though, i tend to return things on time when i borrow or rent them, i don’t leave on vacation with other peoples property in my possession. In any case, if you do the math, two weeks late at $ 3 a day is $ 42, so at least they offered you something, most stores would just say you bought a tap. It’s an all around great store to buy beer and although i don’t live around there anymore, i still make a special trip out there every month or so just to see what’s new and interesting. The prices are reasonable and some of there sales are really good. Check it out.

Worst customer service ever. The woman that normally works their is always in a grumpy mood and won’t help you with anything. She is the only reason I gave this place a one star. I live right down the street so I normally buy a lager keg and a case everything three weeks; one day i needed a tap so i put a deposit down on it. Supposedly there is a $ 3/day reduction from your deposit. So i go on vacation and come back and return it three weeks later. They wanted to give me $ 10 back on a $ 40 deposit. So i kept the tap for myself and after buying from them consistently every month I now get all of my beer at rosemont, it’s a little further away but i like them a lot better, plus they deliver beer.

Underage kids, don’t even bother — you will be carded and scanned, without fail. Bryn Mawr Beverage is your go-to spot for kegs and beer, but if you’re a chick, you can also find your Mike’s Light and other girly drinks that will likely give you stomach ulcers. There are about five parking spots outside, but there’s a huge lot across the street. Still, it can be embarrassing if you’re buying a stupid case of raspberry Mike’s Light for aforementioned girly, underage friends and you have to haul it across the street, feeling the judgmental eyes of passing motorists. I felt like yelling out, «This isn’t for me! I swear!»
