Came camping here last weekn. Called the campground in the evening and someone still answered the phone. I told her I was coming in at 1am… she said no problem and told us to self check in when we arrive. The office has map Showing the location of your assigned spot. Campground is located in the mountain with a creek running behind you. Very organized and cheap($ 18 minimum and $ 9 extra for additional people). The site not too big and near the road. The lady running show is very helpful. All in all if you need place near Nantahala Outdoor Center… this is the spot…

I have a sentimental attachment to this place because I have been camping here regularly since 1976 and have gotten to know the place and it’s owners intimately. John and Anne King are thoughtful, conscientious, and reasonable stewards of this property and care deeply for the campground and their surrounding community. They also work hard to make sure that all of their campers are happy while staying vigilant in maintaining harmony in the campground. The facilities are certainly showing their age, but everything is kept very clean and in good working order. The proximity of the river and the Nantahala Outdoor Center means that the clientele is mostly paddlers, bicyclists, and hikers.
