During the summer I love to go on Bigfoot rapids and not much during the winter. Every single time I go on I’m usually the only one that gets soaking wet. The last time I went on a few weeks ago I got really sick because I got really wet. I have always went on this ride since a kid and it’s a fun ride but not one of my favorites.

Signs neat the BigFoot Rapids ride at Knotts Berry Farm warn you that it is possible that you may get wet, I’d say a more accurate warning is that it is certain to get you at least a little wet, but I must have hit the lucky jackpot because I was completely soaked by the end of it. Yay, me! There is quite a long walk from the entrance of the BigFoot Rapid ride to the area where you are actually loaded into one of the rafts, but they was only a very short line on the afternoon we were there, so we walked through most of it at high speed. Okay, the two kids with me ran on ahead as I sauntered unconcernedly along warning them that if they were planning to share a raft with me there was little point in rushing. From the very length of the path we traveled I feel it is safe to assume that in the middle of summer(we were there on New Year’s Day) there must be VERY long lines. That makes good sense as a little spray of cold water would be just the thing to cool one off on a hot summer day. We descended the final staircase the the boarding area which seems to be revolving, kind of neat on its own merit. Each of the round river rafts has six seats with sturdy high-backed seats which adequately protect the head and neck area from being jolted during the ride. There is a circular bin in the middle of the raft with a covered top where people can put their valuables: phones, cameras, and anything else they do not wish to have get wet. There is also a circular railing around this bin that each rider can hold onto. They loaded 5 of us(3 in my party and two strangers) onto the raft and off we went. The raft is free floating, not on a rail or chain, so the individual riders have the ability to influence how the raft moves through the water. You can rock it or spin it to try to get your friends as wet as possible while trying to your hardest to stay dry yourself. There are no big drops or waterfalls, but there was plenty of water flying around. We’re not talking just a gentle spray of mist on a sea breeze here, or a few water droplets here and there. We’re talking WATER, drenching quantities of water, all seemingly aimed at my side of the raft. It didn’t seem to matter whether I was on the front side or the back side of the raft as it entered each whitewater section, I was always the one who got the worst of it I am not exaggerating. My jeans were drenched and my hair looked something akin to a drowned rat. The two young boys that accompanied me were wet, and the two strangers along for the ride on this adventure were merely damp. I was soaking, dropping wet. And loving every minute of it, I assure you! There is a large dryer just outside this ride which purports to dry you off with large amounts of air(fans? jets?) but it cost $ 5 and, frankly, IMHO dryers are for wimps. Yes, I have a cheeky attitude in addition to being a tightwad. Let’s hear it for drop dry crowd!

Okay. They have an area in the center of the raft to put your purse/bag in so that it doesn’t get wet. The turnover is pretty fast too. I got soaked, but not drenched(if that makes any sense XD). The ride felt short. I wish there was an actual drop like the rapids ride in California Adventures. It’s not bad though if you’re in need of cooling down. They have a dryer strategically placed near the ride exit. Save the $ 5 and just bring a pair of flip flops and an extra change of clothes.

Ok Ok you will get wet you may get drenched. I have loved this ride since I was a young kid. I remember waiting in lines for over an hour to get on this thing. I’m so glad now that the average weight is about 10 minutes. You sometimes get wet and very rarely get favorite thing is seeing the people wearing ponchos on the ride why are you even getting on there? And now they have a gimmick of a five dollar dryer outside of the ride are you for real?
