This place is really good and the service is excellent I love coming here and the happy hour specials are the best deal around

The food here is SO fresh and delicious! Definitely a hidden treasure, you wouldn’t even realize what a great find this place is until you eat there! I will definitely keep coming to this location. The staff is very friendly and the food came out fast as well– I was really, really surprised– you will be too! :)

Best price and best food! The place is clean and the cashier was very accommodating. They serve you the food quicker than any other sushi place I’ve been before. Will definitely go back again!

Cute little sushi shop that’s affordable! I originally found this place on Unilocal and asked the nice lady in the front what one of Unilocal pictures was. She was very accommodating and offered to add spicy mayo on the Alaska roll for me!
If you want good service with affordable and yummy food, this is the place to go!

I love coming here for my craving of their CA Rolls. This day I went with the crunch roll. It was really really full. I mean it was delicious but today the size of the rolls were huge. I’m able to usually fit a piece in my big easily but today I had to bite since they were so big!
I mean they were great as always. The crunch and sauce was perfect! But yea. Enjoyed it. I wish I had the after picture of how big the size was. But I was too hungry. But got an overall pic of how it looked.

My husband and I tried this place today because the menu looked delicious. I ordered the veggie noodles which were horrible. My husband got the baked lobster roll and so far it has been the worst that we’ve had. We couldn’t finish the food due to it being disgusting. Never again!

This is my favorite maki yaki, the prices are great and the food is delicious. The owners are very friendly and their deals they have are super cheap!

Now imagine instead of bologna its paper-​thin «chicken» slapped together between brown asphalt and there you have it.
I give it two stars because they do their best to make up for the brow-​raising quality by ensuring you walk out full. Though, spoiler alert: You’ll wish you weren’t.
I wouldn’t be so harsh if this was a cheap $ 6 bento box but seriously for $ 11, you’ll get FAR better casual asian at panda express or even *shudder* yes… yoshinoya. Either up the quality or lower the price. Would not return.

Love this place its so good. Everything on the menu is great. And portion sizes are big.

First let me say I LOVE MAKI YAKI IN CORONA. That is the only one ive ever been to and it is perfect. I figured since its a chain the food would be the same, WRONG. We were craving some of that delicious sushi and rolls today without the drive to Corona. Big shopping center, lots of stores, parking was plentiful. Unlike the reviews the staff were really nice. The place was a bit dark and in need of updating. Ordered food and drink. They charge .75cent for drink refills, ummmm. This location does not have the sushi chef up front like the Corona location everything coming from the closed off kitchen, i mean u cant see anything back there. The food came out really fast, presentation was lacking, looked sooooo bland. The shrimp had to be pounded, paper thin, tempura was greasy. Nothing tasted fresh. Very disappointing, wont try another location will stick with Corona.

This place is very affordable if you come during their happy hour.
Rainbow roll was good but chicken bowl was just ok.
Will come back to try the other stuff. Friendly people and easy parking too.

Maki yaki! A hole in the wall GOLD MINE! AMAZINGLY delicious and the staff is beyond friendly. It’s a bit priced but it’s really really good. I had California rolls, crunch rolls, soul, and jalapeño rolls. All fresh.
If you’re looking for a great sushi place this place is for you. I will be telling my friends and family about this place.

I always come here when I’m craving for sushi. Great menu selection, fast and service is great. While waiting they give you a miso soup and a glass of water.

With this cheap price, i cant complain on their food. Not to mention their food is really good. The fish is a killer. And excellent service as well. I wish i could give 6 stars

The volcano sushi is life changing! Lol I seriously can eat it all day everyday. Good service, nice people… took a little longer for our food to get serve though. We waited half an hour for 2 orders. But taste great :)

Ordered the salmon bento box thinking that it eas a great price. Really it turned out to be a terrible disappointment. When a friend and I walked in, the young girl «You order up here (at the counter).» I laughed at the uncordial choice of greeting.
The crunch roll was a sweetened cali roll with some tempura sprinkles and sauce on top.
The miso was on of the worst I have had. It was strangely water like they used a powder and settled extremely quickly.
My potion of salmon was minscule. I swear it could not have been over 2 oz. It had no taste.
One last parting shot. who puts white potatoe as a tempura veggie? Apparently, this Maki Yaki location.
The experience was genuinely terrible. Plus 75¢ for soda refills tells you how they treat customers.

Great deal on the Bento Box, everything was nice and fresh, miso was average but everything else was great for this type of sushi place.
The Calif. Roll and Tempura were very good and I always taste the salad first to determine if ht rest of the meal will match up. Very fresh, not drenched in dressing which is perfect.
Low cost deal, highly recommended

Since I was in the area, I tried this place, and was sorry I did.
I ordered a rainbow roll, and some other roll I can’t remember.
Both were lousy. They over use imitation crab, and the fish on the outside was cut super thin, almost paper thin.
On top of this, their imitation crab was a low quality type, perhaps they picked some up at the Northgate grocery store in the same strip mall and this place.
I felt ripped off.
I suggest Orange Sushi and Roll; the Anaheim location, and Tustin I know are good. WAY better then this place.
If you come here, you’re basically paying for imitation crab and rice

When I’m craving sushi and not in the mood to spend too much money to satisfy my craving then I go to one of the many Maki Yaki locations throughout Socal. The quality of the fish is okay.
They offer appetizers, which include: egg rolls, gyozas, sashimi salad, salmon collar, edamame, and soft shell crab, to name a few.
Main course options include: Bento Boxes (tons of options to choose from)… Chicken, Steak, or Salmon Teriyaki, Sushi & Gyoza, Spicy Pork, or Beef Short Ribs. All boxes include the following: salad, 6 pc California roll, steamed rice, mixed tempura and miso soup. Average price for the boxes is $ 9-​$ 10. Great deal!
Udon combos, include your choice of udon and a side of CA Roll, Crunch Roll, or Shrimp Tempura.
Teriyaki plates (chicken, beef, salmon, spicy chicken, fish cutlet, etc.) include salad, steamed rice and miso soup.
Each location has it’s own specials, but this particular location has 50% daily roll specials, which average about $ 4 a roll! Can’t beat that!
