Liars’ Lodge

At the extreme risk of making it impossible to get a room here in the future, I come to praise this basically perfect B&B. My wife and I ran one in Manhattan for ten years, so I am the New York Critic.
Views, soundscape, space, dog, interesting fellow-​guests (a fly-​fishing posse) at breakfast — and of course the owners. Interior and exterior style is neo-​cowboy, the local vernacular. Another reviewer mentioned no TV; why compete with the views and sounds?, we say.
So glad we stretched the budget to swing Liar’s Lodge. If you ever wanted to sleep in/​on a river, here’s your chance!

We were in Buena Vista for an A/​U reunion and were so grateful to find Liar’s Lodge! Outside of town situated right on the Arkansas, we couldn’t have asked for a more charming and terrific place to stay. While having a Rocky Mountain, rustic feel, it has everything a big hotel chain has in terms of conveniences (except a tv in the room). Going to sleep with the sounds of the Arkansas River rushing outside our window and the wind rustling through the trees was magical. The hosts are lovely and the breakfasts are so delicious! I highly recommend Liar’s Lodge. We’ll be back for sure!

Had a wonderful three day stay. I’m super picky about cleanliness and this place was spotless! Breakfast was delicious. And their sweet dog Sadie was an added bonus.

The Hosts for Liars lodge were extremely accommodating. We called in 2 day before looking for a place to stay on new years eve and they had the zoom flume room open. We told them we were climbing Mt. Yale for New years day and we would be checking out early. We arrived at about 9pm but 15 min before they called to make sure everything was okay and if we were able to find the place. Granted its a little hard to find, i missed the street by a block but you can see the lodge from the street even at night. So we get inside and it has that cozy lodge feel. Checked in and since we were leaving early. they got us out homemade pumpkin bread, some almond oatmeal and sausage links. Talk about service. it was unparalleled. The room was cozy and comfortable, the bed was dreamy… perfect way to sleep the night before a 14Er. It was definitely worth the stay and definitely for the room and service provided a solid solid 5 stars.

Absolutely love this place! Almost hate to tell anyone else about it because I don’t want it to be full next time we want to stay. The lodge is right on the river so you can sleep in super comfortable beds and listen to the water. The rooms are very spacious and the breakfast each morning is delicious (and they will accommodate vegetarian preferences). The inn keepers are very friendly and helpful in providing ideas of fun things to do or directions. It is fun chatting with other travelers at breakfast. Also the lodge has a lot of common area to sit and relax. I like that they only have one TV in the common area and none in the rooms. Very relaxing to unplug and encourage family communication! We have stayed at VRBO houses a lot but this place is so much better. This was our second stay and we will definitely be back!

We were referred to Liar’s Lodge by the Best Western in Buena Vista, which was full. It was a lucky break for us, because LL is a beautiful, rustic retreat right on the river, which soothed us to sleep and woke us in the morning — great spot, great food, great hosts — we’ll be back for a longer stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the Liar’s Lodge. The hosts are very hospitable and made a fabulous breakfast. We also enjoyed the company of the guests at the breakfast table. LL is a close drive but long walk from downtown BV. Our room was clean and came with a deck overlooking the beautiful Arkansas River. For those who require TV, beware that this is not a feature but we had a very relaxing evening and would definitely return again.
