As a former professional Chef, I am critical when I go to restaurants. But what can I say about Bacchus. I had the best meal I have ever had. Bacchus is considered a wine bar, which their selection is huge. I am not a wine drinker, so I ended up with a Brooklyn Lager which was very tasty. The atmosphere is fantastic, wait staff was on top of everything. But let’s get to the real reason you are reading this… The food. I had Tuna Tartar as an appetizer. It was an Asian Fuze Tuna Tartar with wonton chips, and Asian guacamole. It was fantastic. Next I had the Roasted Duck Breast with a pomegranate ginger Demi glacé and soba noodles. From the first bite to the last bite it was outstanding. I have found the best restaurant that my taste buds will enjoy for a long time. To the Chefs fantastic work.

Best Beet Salad anywhere in buffalo and the steak is good too Staff are serious about their specials and very well educated on them. They can pair any drink with anything off the menu! Well located for the theatre district. You can have your meal in a hurry if you are going to nearby Sheas Theatre or you can have a meal at your leisure. Also, save room for dessert, last time I was there I had sticky toffee cake, delish!!!

Great atmosphere, food, wine, and cocktails! Highly recommend the«steak & eggs» small plate. The roasted chicken dinner was rustic and awesome as well. Had som great house Pinot noir with dinner and elk made traditional Rye Whisky Manhattan’s afterwards. Next time i find myself in Buffalo, I will be back.

We had a lovely dinner with the Buffalo branch of my family at Bacchus and we’ll be back next time we’re in town. The 7 in our party had a variety of their dishes, but we didn’t get to try them all. Lot’s on the menu to like and I hope to try them in the future. Service was flawless as well. One entrée didn’t arrive as ordered but it was replaced in record time. I started with the Roasted Beets with Crispy Goat Cheese served with a citrus vinaigrette. Delicious! The beets were sweet and flavorful and the goat cheese was a perfect pairing. We also shared the Steamed Prince Edward Island Mussels, they were perfectly fresh, plump, and tasty cooked in a delightful white wine, lemon, butter, and garlic sauce. For my main, I had the Roasted Duck Breast with a pomegranate ginger glaze, served with soba noodles and shitake mushrooms in a soy mushroom broth. The duck was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked medium-rare as I like it, with a delightfully crispy skin. About as perfect as a dish can get! All of our party raved about the wonderful food. Thanks to the chef and great staff at Bacchus for a truly a memorable meal.

I came here for New Years and it was a great experience. We had reservations but there weren’t many people there so we were The service was good. Our waiter was very attentive and helped us pair wine with our meals. They had a preset menu that came with champagne and a three course meal. I decided to start off with foie gras and it was very good. Part of me wishes I opted for the oysters though. It was such a toss up! For my main course there was a deconstructed beef wellington. It was filet mignon next to a puff pastry. I had it cooked medium and it tasted excellent. My friend got the lamb chops and I have to say the portion was large which I thought was awesome. Usually lamb chops are a smaller portion so was pleasantly surprised it was not. For dessert I decided to get the sticky toffee cake. It was very tasty and I managed to finish most of it. I did get to take home some leftover steak for the next day which I enjoyed. Gotta love leftovers! I would like to come back here when it is not a pre-fixed menu to see what else they offer.

Excellent! There were many dishes that I would happily order. The menu has an interesting mix of appetizing small and large plates and an ample wine selection in a range of prices. looking at the menu online I see that it changes often and they update the online menu. I started with the small plate of Duck Confit Risotto which could have satisfied me but I had also ordered the Bouillabaisse. It was delicious. The other tasty dishes our group ordered were a Roasted Beet Salad, a Pear Salad, Shrimp Crusted Mahi Mahi, Roasted Duck Breast, Quail, Ravioli. and Calamari and Rock Shrimp ordered without the Calamari. The only misstep was the Shrimp and Calamari dish came with both instead of just the shrimp. This was remedied immediately. The service was excellent throughout. We did make use of the valet parking which was also quick in retrieving our vehicle.

This is a favorite I have here in Buffalo. I have been here a half a dozen times and never disappointed! Last night I had the poached pear salad(amazing pecan thing on it) and the ahi tuna. Tuna was cooked perfectly rare and loved the sides and sauce that came with it. My co worker had the pumpkin ravioli and it was TASTY! Look forward to returning. Service was just as good as the food.

Bacchus is great, we rented out the place for a rehearsal dinner and they did a great job. They can fit 100+ people which was what we needed, and they are walking distance to the local hotels. They could use more bartenders, but we did have a large crowd. The food was great, the two dishes that stuck out were the pesto gnocchis as well as the roast beef. Both were very good. And they have an ahi tuna/avacado app which is also incredible. Worth going to, I would be interested in trying just dinner there in the future.

Gah. I could not wait to come here for the movie night. It could have been perfect. Let me start by saying the inside and outside are both beautiful. The courtyard was exactly what I was hoping and the movie idea is gold. We only ordered small plates and some cheeses to try with our wine. Tuna Tartar was amazing — however, they gave me exactly four itty bitty wonton chips to eat it with. I was trying to break off pieces the size of crumbs to make it last. I ended up eating the rest with my fork. Same idea with the cheeses we ordered. Decent size for the price but all four of us ordered a different cheese to share and they brought out 5 crackers. I mean, can you spare a few more? We blatantly exclaimed to our server that we were all going to sample each other’s choices. Whatever. Now the reason I won’t be returning unless I run into a small fortune — the wine. I am not cheap nor do I have endless amounts of money to spare. The glasses of wine our server poured were MAYBE3 ounces. That is being generous. And no, I am not an idiot, I realize very large glasses give the illusion of less wine. I was in the service industry for many years and I kid you not, I have poured samples for customers that were bigger than our glasses. When paying $ 10 for a glass of wine, I would like to get more than 3 sips of it. The worst part was when the server was pouring the second round he poured a glass double the size of mine(standard 5 — 6 ounce pour) into my friends empty glass. Of course now we are all laughing because I have a cap full of Malbec and he has a goblet of Cabernet. Other than the one holding the normal sized glass, we all just kind of faded from the movie and stared at our sad looking glasses. We ended up spending over $ 50 a person on just the wine. And I was not even tipsy so that says something. Advice… If you come here, prepare to spend a lot. Don’t be foolish like us, order a bottle of wine and save yourself the depression.

After talking about it for over one year, my friend and I finally made it to Bacchus for wine, dinner and Summer Movie Night! We had such a wonderful time. Our server was friendly and attentive in refilling our wine glasses(very important for movie night). During the summer, Bacchus hosts a Summer Film Series on their outdoor patio twice a week. The movie is projected on a screen on the wall. They serve drinks and dinner during the movie. It is a great way to enjoy a beautiful summer night in Buffalo. It should definitely be added to everybody’s Summer Bucketlist! They pick a great mix of classic films and recent hits. Most of them are romantic comedies. The movie schedule can be found here: We enjoyed our appetizer, the Potato & Goat Cheese Croquettes. Our house-made Tiramisu dessert was also spectacular! Unfortunately, our entrees fell a bit short for both of us. I ordered the Carbonara– pork belly over gnocchi. I usually obsess over gnocchi, but this plate didn’t do it for me. My friend felt the same about her Asparagus Ravioli. When we return for our next movie night, we will probably stick to wine and a cheese plate. Despite not being overly impressed with our entrees, Bacchus still gets four stars because the Summer Film Series is such a unique and wonderful idea! It was blissful watching a favorite movie on the patio with a glass of wine in my hand. Although we did not eat indoors, we walked through to go to the patio and it was beautifully decorated. The bar was especially gorgeous!

I was so torn one what to rate Bacchus. Actually torn. I decided on a three and I will explain why! I have been to Bacchus twice. Both times were for the Summer Film Series, on the patio. If you have not been, please put it on your summer to do list! It is fantastic. Bacchus has an absolutely beautiful patio. Every Wednesday they project a movie, outdoors, while you dine on their patio! It is such a wonderful Idea. The list of movies is shown on their website. This allows you to pick which date and movie you would like to see! The restaurant also take reservations. The movies typically start around 8:00 — 8:30 p.m. They typically tell you to come around 7:30. Bacchus also offers free Valet. The movie is played at a perfect volume, so you don’t feel exceptionally bad if you’re talking at your table. I absolutely love the outdoor movie idea and I make it a point to come at least once, every summer! The reason I’m giving it three stars is because I only come in the summer. I don’t find myself rushing back to Bacchus for its delicious food. It’s definitely not bad, but there are a lot of other places I would choose. I think the restaurant is gorgeous and the staff and servers are so nice! We tried the tiramisu and I would absolutely get that again. I think this place is amazing for a bottle of wine(or multiple) a dessert and of course the summer film series! Please. Please! I beg you to catch a film here! They are running until the end of September, so you still have time :)

The entire experience at Bacchus was amazing and I don’t have a single complaint! The service is exceptional, from the hostess, water boys and waiter, they were all great! We were a group of four sitting outside on the patio. We started off with the mussels and calamari, the mussels were so good we ended up ordering another order! For our entrees, two of us ordered the special large dish which was crusted Halibut over lobster risotto, so tasty! The other two ordered the shrimp crusted mahi mahi over lemon risotto and that as well was delicious and tasty! We also stayed for the movie in the courtyard which was great and definitely adds to the experience. We will definitely be back!

A thoroughly lovely meal and a great dining experience overall. We started off with mussels which were excellent, the bread service was also great. I had the filet and my husband the clam chowder. I am allergic to crustaceans but I must say I envied his dish because of the lovely texture. Fresh scallops, clams, shrimp and fish. My steak was excellent but the accompaniment of gnocchi, mushrooms and spinach was a touch too salty. Dessert was a delightful slice of crème brûlée cheesecake for myself and a locally made ice cream for the husband. I would definitely return.

WEDDING! We just had our wedding here — a 68 people, in the private room + patio. It was wonderful! I cannot thank Bacchus enough for making it all come together! Food — we did the stations and everything was wonderful but we heard some serious raving about the Mushroom Ravioli and the Beef Tenderloin(carving station). We loved hearing people come up to us and say things like«best wedding food ever!» :) Drinks — we opted for the full service bar package for a a few hours for our guests and it was a such a hit! We loved being able to offer people the best cocktails(and craft cocktails) and wine selections. Bacchus let us switch to a cash bar after a planned amount o time which was great to control costs a little. Working with Bacchus — Excellent! We worked with Steve more toward the end and could not have been more helpful. He was responsive and happy to talk with me via email, phone calls, in person — whatever we needed to get ready for the day. He also worked with us to make sure we had what we needed(an hour of wine service, no problem!, appetizers — no problem!), he really worked with us to create a custom food/drinks service that met all of our needs. Between Steve and then the day of staff — WOW, they really made the whole event go really well. What a wonderful experience! I cannot say thank you enough to Bacchus(and I can’t wait to share pictures with them). THANKYOUTHANKYOU!

On of the finest restaurants I have ever been to so far and I have frequented various fine dining establishments all over Toronto and New Orleans. First of all the service was superb. Complimentary valet service starts of the experience. I made reservations through Opentable and requested a table with sofa style seating and that’s just what we got. The restaurant is beautiful. Our waitress was great. She forgot to tell us the specials but I won’t hold that against her. Bread came right after we ordered our small plates. Very good quality bread and a creative presentation of the olive oil/balsamic … watch for it. We started with two small plates shared by 3 pepople and as you will see from the pictures, calling them small plates is quite misleading in the best way. The plate of crispy calamri and rock shrimp with sweet and spicy glaze was very good and huge. The potato and goat cheese croquettes with prosciutto was the highlight of the night for me. Crispy on the outside, hot melty goodness on the inside made even better with a combination of sauces with a mouthful of prosciutto in each bite. For mains I got the chicken with caramelized onion, mashed potatoes, a very fresh baby spinach and tomato salad with a rich buttermilk drizzle. I usually don’t order chicken in a fine dining establishment as it usually tends to be an uneventful piece of chicken breast posing as gourmet. But that wasn’t the case here. The flavours were quite creative and it was a very good tasting dish … homey with a special touch. The winning dish of the night for the table was the shrimp crusted mahi mahi with a creamy herb risotto, perfectly grilled asparagus and a colorful romesco salsa. It was ahhmazing. My dad ordered the roasted duck breast with butternut squash and duck confit risotto with a pomegranate demi glacé. It wasn’t a taste any of us cared for so we returned it for another mahi mahi which our waitress handled superbly. None of us really had room for dessert but we got the crème brûlée cheesecake which was very good. Our waitress was very attentive all night and had the valet bring around the car at the end of the night. The price for 3 people with 2 small plates, 1 glass of wine, 3 mains and 1 dessert and tips came to $ 150. $ 50pp is extremely reasonable for a dinner of this calibre. What I loved about this restaurant is its ability to serve up fine food without the often accompanying pretentiousness. I would highly recommend Bacchus to anyone who appreciates good food in a wonderful atmosphere with great service.

I came here on Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend a little before 7pm. I pulled up to the front and was delighted that they had complimentary Valet Parking(especially on a very snowy day). I made a reservation via Open Table, but joked with the hostess asking if they had any open tables without a reservation. To my surprise she said«Yes, due to the weather we had a lot of cancellations». I told her I was just messing around and gave her my last name. We were immediately seated despite our being 10 minutes early, which is always a plus instead of having to wait in the lobby or bar. I was immediately impressed by the décor, and have not seen a classier, more modern restaurant in Buffalo. I was very impressed with how much room was between us and the table next to us, and the 2-top was quite large. A bus-boy greeted us first to fill our water glasses, and our waiter came over shortly after and explained the menu to us. Being Valentine’s Day(and not a surprise to me), they were working from a Prix Fixe 3-course menu(drink, app, entrée, dessert) at $ 75/person. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of choices available(10 apps, 10 entrees, and 6 desserts) for a Prix Fixe menu, and there was something for everyone. My girlfriend and I ordered our wine first as we had not decided on our meal choices. I was impressed that our server(Angelo I believe) brought over the entire bottle of wine and let us taste before setting our decision in stone. We had no complaints and he poured our glasses. For our apps we ordered the Tuna Tartar and Calamari and Rock Shrimp. I’m not a fan of Tuna Tartar, but my girlfriend said it was outstanding. The Calamari and Rock Shrimp were lightly breaded and fried and served tossed in a Thai Chili sauce. Both the calamari and shrimp were very fresh, and the portion was so large that I almost did not finish it in preparation for dinner but did anyway because it was SOOO good. Our entrees came out a few minutes after our dishes were cleared from our apps. My girl ordered the duck breast which was cooked to a perfect medium, was incredibly tender and was easily the best part of her meal. It was served with a wild mushroom risotto which was spectacular as well. I ordered the Ribeye, and this is the only reason why this review receives a 4 instead of a 5-star rating. I have grown to be quite the steak snob over the years and despite the bacon fingerling potato, spinach, and Gorgonzola cheese accoutrements I felt the steak was average at best. I would have much rather had a better quality steak without all the tasty toppings, and I was slightly disappointed. Dessert came out after both of us were finished with out entrees, and our server made a small slip-up. My girlfriend received her Crème Brule as ordered, but I was brought the Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, instead of my Maple Bread creation(I can’t remember the menu name) as I had ordered before our meal. I flagged down a waitress to have our waiter came over, and he immediately came over and apologized for the mistake. A+ for the customer service here as my correct dessert was brought out pipping hot no more than 2 minutes after I brought it to Angelo’s attention. I’m very happy I said something because this dessert was easily my favorite part of the meal. Warm maple bread, smothered in a rich maple glaze was the perfect end to a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner. My girlfriend said she was slightly disappointed in her’s as it was not as hot as she expected it to be. Angelo brought our check over after all of our plates and glasses had been cleared, and told us «No rush at all on this!». I have to say I had a little sticker shock as this was the most expensive meal of my life(that I paid for). Our two meals, a bottle of wine, and tax/gratuity set me back $ 225. Due to my feelings of my sub-par(for the price) steak, this left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Regardless, I will be back in the future to try their everyday menu and for their outstanding customer service!

Atmosphere: quiet open romantic space. It was valentines day weekend so that may explain the fresh rose pedals. Candle lighting. Bread: Fresh! Delicious home cooked Italian bread with an explosion of balsamic and Italian herbs as they lift the shot glass. Entertaining and delicious. App: seared scallops Ratings: 10000000000 Best scallops we’ve ever had. I’ve had scallops in the nicest restaurants in the biggest cities, Brian and his crew can cook scallops. Try them, you will NOT regret it. Dinner: I had the filet. Cooked perfectly to a medium rare. She had the rib-eye cooked perfectly to a medium. The sides were unique and delicious. Desert: We shared the tiramisu… Oh my god. So good. Everything was absolutely perfect. We have a new favorite restaurant in buffalo. Even the coffee brought originality and amazing flavor. Price: We hung out for about an hour before our table was available. We had a bottle of wine and a few cocktails… Whose counting. With dinner we had everything listed above. $ 130 at the table $ 75 – 100 at the bar We will be back.

One of my new favorites! Went here with a party of 12. Everyone loved it! First things first — we all met at the bar and encountered a very friendly bartender who was quick to offer suggestions for wine and cocktails. The bar area is great and accommodating to large groups. I ordered the Cesar salad that was absolutely delicious and perfectly flavored. I then had the salmon entrée. I order a lot of salmon and consider myself a bit of an expert — let’s just say this was one of the best I have ever eaten.

The service was terrific and the interior of the restaurant was the same, but I felt my steak was overpriced and average. I got the rib eye at the direction of my server who told me he felt it was«better than Chop House». Nah. They cover the thing a spattering of a gorgonzola paste-like crust. Gorgonzola is awesome, but I kinda thought it would be a little lighter on the steak, and since it wasn’t it overpowered the meat. My brother-in-law had the same dish and also felt the same way that I did. For an appetizer we got the scallops. I thought they were spectacular, and if they weren’t so expensive I would go back and order four helpings of them and call it a meal. The table next to us had the calamari, and considering that each member of that table hooked a high-suction vacuum hose up to their mouths and devoured it, I’d call it a safe bet that’s going to be a good option for you too.
