What makes a for a good bourbon? Handled with care? Aged to perfection? A little magic in the in the rack house where it’s aged? Caputi’s liquor store on Sheridan has managed to wrap all of this into its store. The strapping gentlemen behind the counter are always more than helpful, handling each customer with care, listening to their wants hopes and dreams for that next party they are hosting. Is the staff experienced and aged to perfection? You betcha. They’ve been doing it for years and it shows, especially if you attend one of their bourbon club meetings at the pub. Is there a little magic inside the 4 walls of that storefront on Sheridan drive? I’d sure like to think so and if you stop in i doubt you’ll disagree.

This place is a great find for your liquor and wine needs! It is locally owned and operated, and its staff/​management are both knowledgeable and courteous. At Caputi’s, you can regularly find a great inventory of spirits that other Buffalo-​area stores simply do not stock, or lack a sufficient inventory of. I always trust the employees’ recommendations and have never once been disappointed. Often, they even provide free samples of recently released items. While the store’s location is convenient, and its selection is great, what truly sets it apart is its bourbon selection, and its monthly «Whiskey Club». The Whiskey Club offers an awesome chance to sample various bourbons, scotches, and ryes, that most people have never tried. They also raffle off opportunities to buy SUPER RARE brands such as Pappy Van Winkle and Stagg. Local brewers and distilleries are brought in on a regular basis as well. In the past year I have become a regular at these events, and have personally attended presentations (and…more importantly, tasted samples!!) from Heaven Hill, Jim Beam, Big Ditch, Lockhouse, Woodford Reserve, Hamburg Brewing, EBC, Compass Box, and many more. In addition to guest presenters and samples, they offer a «bourbon bar» where whiskey-​centered cocktails and homemade bitters/​mixers can be tasted. The staff really cares about providing their guests with a great experience, and it shows. In the Western New York area, there are no other liquor stores that can compete with Caputi’s when it comes to selection, convenience, expertise, and customer service. Mark Twain truly said it best… «Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough»!!!

Went for beverages for a Bills game asked randomly about local bourbon and scotch, very knowledgeable staff. The owner let us have a taste and found something new we were interested in. I have never had someone who was more helpful and interested in just sharing knowledge. Was a very good experience and would recommend this place to anyone.

I really like this liquor store. They never feel pretentious like some liquor stores get and they always help me find something new and different to try. I’ve come in for a few of their wine sampling days and always end up finding something I really like.

These folks are really great! They talk to you like you’re a regular person and not an ignorant boob! They will help you make a selection and are happy to do carry outs!

Great selection, and great staff. Everyone was very helpful and I was extremely satisfied. They are also right next to a beer distrubtor so it was a one stop shop!

If you are in need of hard to get whiskey or just need to get a great deal on wine and spirits, then this is your place! The staff here is what makes this place standout. They know everything there is to know about wine and spirits and the customer service goes above and beyond! If you are looking for a specific bottle of whiskey or anything else for that matter, they will try their best to get it shipped into the store for you. This is the only place to go for anything I need.

This place is right by consumers on Sheridan. I went here for a good bottle of whiskey and some other liquor a mix drink. They had a great selection and if you like aged whiskey they have multiple brands. I bought a 16yr bush mills. The staff was very knowledgeable and willing to help.

I have never met more friendly and helpful staff at a liquor store… that is saying a lot since I used to work at a liquor store.
I’m not sure if I was speaking with the owner or not, but he was incredible. He was a shorter, older, and bald man who had nothing but great recommendations. For anyone who likes red blends, he has a great selection. I found that the Apothic Red was only $ 9.99 (compared to $ 11.99 elsewhere). In case I wanted to step outside of the box, the man who helped me gave me some great alternatives.
I was also picking up a gift card and the boys at the register were so nice. I would 1,000% go back to Caputi’s when I am in the Amherst/​Tonawanda area!

This is a really great liquor store. They have a good selection of wine and liquor, the shelves are pretty much always brimming with bottles, it’s easy to find an inexpensive-​yet-​tasty bottle of wine, they have reasonable hours, and the staff has never been anything but awesome to me. They’re always friendly, frequently offer to help if you look like you’re having trouble navigating, and aren’t afraid to tell you where to go if you need a specialty item they don’t carry. They also seem to frequently run promos (foursquare, Unilocal,etc) that the staff honors without missing a beat. I happily spend my money here again and again.

My go to liquor store in Buffalo. These guys enjoy what they do and love talking with you about what you are looking for, recommendations, what to avoid, etc etc. They have always steered me in the right direction and their prices are on par with the other big box stores in the area (sometimes better) but their customer service and passion makes them the best. They have really expanded their whiskey selection which has been great, and the only thing I would look for them to do is to source some of the more boutique wineries so that we can access some more hard to find wines vs the big labels.

Great selection and a very friendly staff. While it’s not Premier it’s a great spot to grab a bottle on your way home or heading to a dinner party. The staff are very knowledgeable and the stock is more than sufficient for the average household.

These guys are a stellar, consistent performer in both customer service and selection. My buddies and I bourbon/​whiskey/​scotch drinkers and this stores selection is above average, if not the best locally I’ve seen in Western New York. It probably helps that they have a Bourbon Club (proud member here) and everyone who works there knows their stuff.
Not only that, the wine selection is vast and well organized.
Lastly — but most importantly, this is a family owned business and there isn’t a better group of father and sons in business in WNY than the Family Caputi.
