Beware door to door salesman Julien Scott the name from Commerce Energy! He claimed Delwarva power send him and need to see my electric bill on page 2. If I do not have a supplier I would be fined. Stupid of me to believe him. He entered all my info eventhough I told him I cannot switch my supplier because I am still under the 1 year contract. He told me not to worry. He needed all my info so that the company can send me materials about the program. He also asked me to sign on his ipad to verify he has spoken to me. Big mistake! I found out later my signature was the Customer Agreement Program! The very next minute an email was send, congratulating me for enrolling into the program. Well, he is dealing with the wrong person. I immediately, I contacted my supplier and Delmarva Power. They insure me that they have to send me a letter before they are able to make any switches. What a relief. I had already send my complaints to their office and to the Vice President of the company and anywhere to make sure no one falls into this scam.

Terrible. just stay away. They will trick you into signing a 1 year contract but in reality it is a five year contract.

So Ricardo shows up to our door and says he’s with the electric company and would like to talk to us about our service. This got him in the door because we were just bitching about our BGE and made a complaint. We though Ricardo was the guy here to talk to us about that. Nope. Ricardo works for Commerce Energy and wanted to get us to switch to Commerce. Thanks to the beautiful gift of deregulation we can switch. Oh… OK. Ricardo made a pretty good speech and showed how our rates would be cheaper. OK. They also have a Just Green Program(herein referred to as the Just Greed Program) which helps us reduce our carbon footprint(bullshit alert!). He stated that the electricity provided is coming from Calvert Cliffs. A nuclear power plant. OK, their energy is already green so why am I paying more? If you want to tack on an extra ½ cent per Kwh for electric and an extra 10 cents per therm for gas so that I can say I support green energy you got another thing coming. That’s a sucker tax right there. Now the kicker here is the length of the contract. 5 years. That was slipped in the back door when we went to sign. Hold up, wait a minute. I’m not locking in with you for 5 years. Ricardo assured us that we could cancel after 1 year but the 5 years was there so that if we didn’t want to cancel it would roll over without having to renew. Of course that was nowhere in writing. Much of this I learned today when I called Commerce because our 1 yr anniversary is coming up. Now here’s where the generous second star comes into play. Ricardo gets zero stars but the customer service guy I spoke to today scored 2 stars for Ricardo’s lyin’ ass. The customer service was actually very helpful and very informative. Unfortunately I do have a 5 year contract that I signed but because of the way that Ricardo ran the game on us(and I’m sure they’ve gotten many complaints on this) CS worker removed the cancellation fee on my account so if I ever wanted to cancel I could with no penalty. He also gave me some options if I wanted to stay and informed me on the whopping expense I was paying for the JustGreed Program. Yea, I signed up for it. I didn’t know how much I was being robbed at the time I signed. CS worker also informed me that I could call them anytime and ask what their rates were and if the rates were lower than what I am locked into right now I could switch to the lower rate. That was some good info to have which is not written in any paperwork that I have. So I’m sticking with them for now and want to see what happens. CS worker won me back but if you ever get a dude roll up on your porch and say he’s with the power company and want to see your electricity bill be prepared for what is about to come.

Today an agent who works for them came to my door and demanded he needed to see my electric bill and claimed he works for my electric co(Highly illegal.) We called the police on him and will be filing a report with the DELAWAREPUBLICSERVICECOMMISSION. See number 3 on the pdf if you live in Delaware and have a run in with them and their scams.

This company has been harassing me for months. They have gotten my cell phone number somehow and call me several times a month offering a «rate reduction on(other electric company’s) bill». I tell them to stop, but they still call, trying to poach me away from a company I don’t even do business with anymore. Today is the day after Christmas and guess what? This company called, interrupting a nice morning with family. And when I told the person on the phone that I wanted them to stop calling and stop harassing me, the rude lady on the other end copped an attitude with *me*! Geez, sorry for calling you during the holidays to try to sell you crap you don’t need… Oh, wait, that was you, Commerce Energy! To be clear, I have never contracted this company’s services or chosen to have any type of interaction with them whatsoever. But they simply refuse to leave me alone. I can only imagine what happens if you *do* become a customer. For the company address, I used the contact information Commerce Energy provides for Pennsylvania, but they do business in several cities across the country. Beware!
