Dollar General Store

This place should be called the Baller General because all of the girls that shop here are totally in love with LeBron.
This particular store only gets a 2 because they overcharged me for water and cat food, and because they refused to look in the back to see if they had any more of the things I needed, and complained about me even asking. Also they bagged my waters 4 in a bag instead of 2, making them almost impossible to carry.
Edit: my subsequent experiences here have all been good, nice service, clean and easy and quiet store, quick in and out (just the way she likes it, not the way I like it though), and cheap-​ish goods. Right next to my gym so convenient too. Raising it to a 3.
$ 5 off 30 or 25 sometimes, on Saturdays if you get a coupon.

I like this store because it’s great for when I need something fast like light bulbs, greeting cards, a gift for a kid, or batteries… or putting together a basket for a shower ;) A decent selection of reasonably priced cleaning products, too.
I spend a lot of my law school years in here buying the cheapest products I could find… love finding those little gems with the «compare to» label letting me know that I’m buying the exact same product at a much cheaper price.
It’s always sort of disheveled and messy feeling, though, and it seems like they’re always switching entire shelves over while I’m in there for some reason! The staff ranges from super friendly and helpful to flat out surly, which gives it its own charm I suppose.
The catch is, you have to be open minded when entering a store like this… no, they don’t have the kind of shout spray you’re looking for, or the exact size of garbage can you had in mind, or the color of drapes you really wanted, but hey — it’s cheap.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens when this moves to the rumored new location across Union Road, perhaps the untidy-​ness and small selection will improve.
