Beat duck I’ve ever had! When you walk in and see the fresh delicious various meats hanging in the window, you’re mouth can’t help but water. They chop it up right in front of you too! Best part is the people who work there are incredible friendly and conversational. Always a very pleasant experience at Eddie’s Chophouse

It’s so hard finding good roast pork in Buffalo, but I’m glad that Eddie’s Chophouse opened. Their prices are decent and you can’t get these Asian roast meats anywhere else up here. Definitely one of my favorite places to head to when I’m having these cravings and if I want something at a decent price and decent portion to fill me up!

This is a place my stepson loves beyond reason. Me, my opinion improved after the first visit. The meats on a stick are very very good. Dishes with rice, watch out for the bones! Also, for those of you who love«A Christmas Story», walking into this place will fondly remind you of the ending… duck, anyone?

TASTESJUSTLIKEHONGKONG. This place took me back to 2010 when I lived in HK and used to get authentic Chinese food on the daily. I ordered the Roast Pork on Rice, and Steamed Vegetables; they did not disappoint. For anyone unfamiliar with Cantonese«Steamed Vegetables», be aware that they consist of steamed yu choy, and that is all(well they have garlic and oyster sauce, but veggie-wise there will be zero variety). Yu Choy is a relative in the Bok Choy family; I love it, but it can be an acquired taste, so just be aware. Big thumbs up for value here– the portions at Eddie’s are very fairly priced; I think my entire meal(2 dishes) was under $ 10 pre-tax. Disclaimer: DONOT put any type of sauce on your rice-box before tasting it, there is more flavour than meets the eye.

Phở Soup likes Eddie’s Chophouse! Ordered the 1 meat special with the Mint Lemonade, as Guy Fieri would say«it was bomb dot com broski» Get the duck, crispy skin, thin layer of fat, moist meat! Yummo says Rachael Ray. Eddie I will be back!

Tried this spot out through a delivery service so i cant really say much about appearance etc but i would like to check it out at some point. Anyway, i tried the wontons, dumplings and crispy pork plate(just the meat). The dumplings and wontons seemed pretty similar, with the wontons being teaspoon size purses and the dumplings at least twice the size. Both had cilantro and crispy bits(onions?) and a small cup of soy. I enjoyed them but have been spoiled by the dumplings/sauce at Home Taste. And then there was The crispy pork. It was absolutely amazing and highly recommend with a side of the ginger sauce(you have the option to pick 3 others at .50 ea). Each piece was topped with crunchy, golden brown bit of skin and i think i swore when i ate the first piece. The ginger sauce was basically a light oil and chopped ginger and maybe a bit of garlic that came in 2 small cups. I think the price point is on the slightly high side but still reasonable and the lunch options look like great deals. I only wish there were some other noodle options and maybe a choice of side veg and you could mix and match with the other side sauces??? Regardless ill definetly be back to check out their other stuff.

I’ve been to Eddie’s Chophouse twice in the course of two weeks. I ordered the rice box with the two meat combo which consisted of the the roasted duck and crispy pork. Overall the food is great and inexpensive but is slightly a bit too salty for my preferences. However I would come back again.

I wasn’t expecting much but the roast meats were great! The roast pork was delicious, salty to go with the white rice & crispy skin was done to perfection. The meat wasn’t too fatty either. The BBQ pork was also good. Juicy.

I go here whenever I’m feeling homesick. Nothing reminds me of quick dinners with my dad like char siu(Cantonese bbq pork) over rice. It has the perfect balance of sweet and savory. And this his the ONLY place in Buffalo that has it(trust me, I’ve been searching since I started school at UB). Now before I bring my friends here, I always tell them to try to keep an open mind. Yes there are whole cooked animals hanging and most of the meats have bones in them. But I would really question their authenticity if they didn’t have all that stuff. I think the pork is the only meat that doesn’t have bone in it. Although bones shouldn’t stop you from trying their other stuff. The prices are more expensive compared to Flushing/Chinatown as expected. There is a $ 2 discount if you order online through Unilocal though! They do have room to improve taste-wise, but there’s really no place like this in Buffalo. Or maybe I’m just being bitter about this place opening during my very last year of school. I would’ve gone here everyday for their lunch special if I was a freshman again.

I came yesterday with my sister and we loved it so much we came back twice in a day! We ordered roasted pork rice bowl and iced mint lemonade. The rice bowl was sooooo delicious. There was a short wait for the food and wasn’t expensive; around $ 5. The iced mint lemonade was super good, it’s worth the $ 2.50. The workers are really nice and the restaurant is really cool inside. The bathroom is clean but there’s only one. !!!- They do hang up the meat and it’s next to where you order your food but don’t let that scare you.

Eddie’s is a traditional Cantonese barbecue place so bear in mind, the style might not be suitable for Americans, at least initially. I’ll explain. To start, all the food is hung on display. This is pretty traditional and you can find it any Chinatown anywhere you go. This is fine until people start seeing the proteins with heads and then people start feeling uneasy for some strange reason. All animals have heads no? So why is this a problem if you’re not vegan or vegetarian? Secondly, almost all traditional Chinese food is cooked with the bone. The concept of boneless and filleting is done nowadays to cater to Americans, because I find most don’t like working hard for their food. Again, I believe it’s purely cultural difference. So if that is true for you, stick with the roast pork and you’ll be fine. Deviate to other things at your own caution. Lastly, I grew up where food was served as soon as it was cooked, with the idea being that you should get to enjoy it as soon as it’s ready. The concept of serving everyone at the same time is very Western and often leads to room temperature if not cool dishes. This will not be the case and you will have to exercise caution in noting that hot entrees will be hot. Now with all that set aside, I’ll say that Eddie’s is actually pretty tasty compared to NYC Chinese food. They have roast pork, soy sauce braised chicken, and roast duck, along with some noodle dishes as well. Their flavoring is a tad salty for my pallet, and I would opt for no soy sauce or sauce in general on my rice if ordering the rice box. The price is pretty cheap and a bargain for Buffalo standards. I challenge anyone else to find a meal with a protein, a starch and a vegetable that is under $ 10. Those from other Chinatowns will cry that it’s expensive, and disappointing. My advice for those people? Fly or drive to where you want to go eat then. Lastly, it’s street parking only. Sometimes you may have to circle the block a little, but I’ve never had issues.

One thing Buffalo is missing: Chinese Roast Pork. Did Eddie’s Chophouse fill in the missing void of the delicious savory chinese roast pork? I think not. I am excited that a restaurant finally opened to offer authentic chinese roast pork BUT Eddie’s chophouse is not there yet. The meat portion is lacking in quantity, white rice was mainly what filled the plate. Also the meat was lacking some juiciness in it, kind of dried. There is potential for this spot, hopefully we’ll see it soon. If you do plan to stop by, make sure to check in on Unilocal to get a free mint lemonade!

I walked here in between my break from school and work since I have both near the South Campus. I had been hearing a lot about the place and was excited to check it out. I previously lived in Taiwan for a summer and always love anything that tastes like the foods I enjoyed while I was there. The first blast of flavor of the roast duck immediately triggered memories of living in Taiwan. Literally a blast of flavor. Really the roast duck reminded me so much of the tastes of Chinese BBQ in Taipei. Well, besides the flavor of the duck, the rest was a little lacking. It could have used a bit more meat given in the dish overall, but since the lunch special was less than $ 6 I can’t complain too much about the portion side. Other than that, the cabbage was a bit plain, not much flavor there, could’ve even used a bit of salt. Overall I was pleased with the taste of the duck but the rest of the box and portion side was slightly lacking. Besides the duck the whole lunch box could have been turned up a notch. But I will definitely be back to try it again!

I made a Unilocal account just to write this review. I’ve had everything off this menu already and I must say, for the first time ever, I can’t pick a favorite. Everything is so great especially the egg noodles. The texture is much better than other places. Definitely a must try. The prices are rather cheap for a place like Buffalo. $ 5 for a roast pork rice box at the cheapest. The rest are give and take about 2 – 3 $ extra.

Delish!!! My mom says«I want rice and meat». This place came to mind since she loves Chinese food. Got the lunch special. Wanted crispy pork but it wasn’t ready yet so I go the spare ribs. Nicely seasoned with a good Chinese flavor. I loved how the meat was kind of tough and stuck to the bone. It came with rice and cabbage. It’s tough to say if I should have picked the soup or the drink. I really enjoyed my honey lemon tea. Had a few slices of fresh lemon. The wontons seemed fresh and not frozen. I got the skewers. The beef was juicy. Wish they had just tofu but the fish cake tofu was good– especially with some saracha on it!

When I called yesterday they said they had air-conditioning. I should have asked do you have air-conditioning that works. When we got there the door was wide open and it was quite hot inside. Not a good start, though the staff was very friendly. The food was good. I had the rice, cabbage, and pork plate and my friends had the roasted duck. The cabbage was as plain as it could be. The meats were very good, and the rice adorned with a little salty sauce… hoisin and soy? None of the flavors were complex, but everything was very fresh. I also sampled their dumplings because of the great Unilocal reviews. A major disappointment, but that’s because they are simply steamed and not pan fried. Doughy and blah with yet more pork. My favorite item was the Chinese Broccoli, though it’s a broccoli hybrid made of stems and leaves. Very healthy and doused with more soy-based sauce. I wish them well. They are clearly making a big effort and will be popular with the students. If I lived in the neighborhood I might even get take-out occasionally, but I will not be going again any time soon. Why? Because for less money I can go to Phở Dollar and have a wonderful meal with complicated flavors served on actual plates, not take-out containers, by people who understand customer service.

My friend and I came here on a whim when we realized we weren’t going to make the 2:30 lunch special at our favorite Korean place. Fortunately, I remembered hearing about this place through the grapevines. We got the lunch special which luckily for us, doesn’t end until 3:30. The interior was delightfully clean, modern, and quaint. The lunch special was less than $ 7 and came with a rice box and a meat of your choice, as well as wonton soup or specialty beverage. My friend and I got the roast pork and crispy pork with the soup. I prefer the crispy pork; it was so airy and flavorful. There was plenty of rice and a side of cabbage. I wished the cabbage was sautéed, perhaps with some fish sauce and spicy paste. The soup was well seasoned and light. Even the water we asked for was incredibly refreshing; it seemed to have a hint of mint? Needless to say, my belly was very content after the meal. It’s also a short walk away from UB’s south campus so students get the luxury of coming here every day. I seriously wish this place was here when I was a student because there were few to no options when I was on a time crunch during lunch!

Eddies is the closest thing in buffalo you’ll come to authentic Chinese BBQ(the kind popular in China town NYC) The rice box meal is 5 $-6 $ and comes with a generous portion of meat over white rice and a side of steamed cabbage. At first I was tempted to pour sauce as the meat and white rice looked like it needed it. WRONG. The richness and flavor of the meat balanced great with the white rice. I tried most of the meats and my favorite is the roast pork and crispy pork(pork belly). These two are also boneless(a plus for me) The dumplings are the best I’ve had in buffalo. Fresh, handmade and filled with fresh chopped roast pork and garnished with scallions and onion crisps. Overall, I highly recommend eddies to anyone who appreciates good food and willing to try something new.

Helllllllooooo beautiful Asian BBQ! Let’s see. This place used to be «slice of Italy» which was a pizza place. Now: updated hardwood, Asian chic, fresh ribs, whole ducks and chickens hanging in the hot box. Ummmm yeah, definitely a change. This is your typical Chinese food style ordering situation. Look up(or at the menu), order, wait, and be called. This place has limited seating options so I recommend finding a seat while you wait. Let’s get on to the important part shall we? The food. On the menu we had: Duck rice plate: Flavorful crispy skinned duck layered over white rice and cabbage: the flavor was authentic, delicious, and a little intense for my Americanized palate, but it was good none the less. There wasn’t that much meat on some of the duck slices since I got mostly ribs, so if you are starving, order the bigger one. Mint lemonade: fresh mint in lemonade. A refreshing twist on a summer favorite that cleanses the palate while you eat. Very nice. Shrimp skewers: small seasoned shrimp skewers with a snap. Simple and delicious. Steamed pork dumplings: very large steamed dumplings stuffed with FRESH pork. Yes yes and yes. This is the stuff. They are just delightful. Garnished with scallions(and maybe cilantro?!?). I don’t care what it is, but these little pockets meat are what you need. So… Ok. The duck didn’t have much meat ok it, but knew it was a small. The food, every piece, was delicious fresh, savory, umami, and just right. Let’s hope this place stays around.

Finally open! Under construction for a while, the awning with the name Eddies Chophouse went up about 3 weeks ago, but the papered windows remained. Then earlier today when I passed by the paper was gone. I talked to someone who works in the area and he had a menu to show. So it was open. I planned to come back for lunch takeout but when I came in there was nice looking seating. Some by the window, some tables. Looks like there may be one or two tables out front soon too. Clean. Nice. You can see the kitchen here and the employees. Eddie mans the order desk but the cooks are paying attention and getting to work. The usual drink fridge, you take your own. The menus are not the usual never ending ones you often find in Chinese places. They are small and you have fewer choices. I tend to think this means they make a few things well instead of all things ok. I tried dumplings today. Beef, steamed and I think hand made. These are not your usual Chinese fast food dumplings. In any way. Served 6 to an order, they are garnished with scallions. Yum. I ordered more to take with me. This place, open perhaps 3(2?) days, had HUGE foot traffic already. Some back for the second time in 24 hours. I can’t wait to try more from the menu. 5 stars for the dumplings I had 5 for the cleanliness 5 for the nice environment 3 for parking, I love easy parking. Solid 5 overall, based on the dumplings mostly. Takes ALL credit. Love that. Street parking.
