With this mild winter and Spring around the corner I had to post about this gem of a custard stand! REOPENINGMARCH1st2016***** Fran-Ceil Custard is located on 3411 S Park Ave., in Blasdell Their custard is OUTOFTHISWORLD!!! Creamy and tasty. Plus they rotate one special flavor every week! The sherbet is homemade, also offer Perry’s hard ice cream, frozen yogurt, and wow cow(which is fat free frozen dessert… with just 15 calls per ounce) When I come here I indulge and CHEAT! The small is a perfect size and Dan usually orders a medium. The prices are very reasonable too, compared to other ice cream joints. Starting March 1st go TREAT Yo Self and indulge in some Fran-Ceil’s custard!!! **lick lickkk**

Sorry :(to be the dissenter but the high ratings must be partly due to the fact that most of the reviewers live/lived in South-towns & this is a fond memory for them. With all the hype, I took advantage of yesterdays beautiful weather, put the top down and drove the mileage out there for this«unforgettable» custard. «Meh. I’ve experienced better» is so succinct for my feelings on this roadside ice cream spot. It pretty much tasted like ice milk to me. I would rate DQ above them alone and Anderson’s is way above. Actually, the ABSOLUTEBEST custard I’ve ever had [I’m old so I’ve had the really good stuff from the 50’s &60’s to compare it to] was just a few years ago in fact @ the ice cream parlor behind«The New Whistle Pig» [now closed] in Niagara Falls. Sorry I cannot remember the name, but THAT custard was CUSTARD! The owner explained to me why it was so phenomenal — high butterfat content and immaculately clean machines! I felt so bad when they closed, mostly and probably due to The New Whistle Pigs closing which blocked them off. OMG, if they ever reopen I’m there… and it’s 3 times as far away for me… but that good!

Go there! Don’t be tempted by the enormous amount of incredible Perry’s Ice Cream flavors– you can get those most anywhere. Do the right thing for yourself, and America, and order something, anything, with fFROZEN CUSTARD in it. Their FROZENCUSTARD. It’s the right thing to do. Trust me. Go there. Do this.

This place is a legend in my family. Visited hundreds of times when we were growing up. Now that we live away, it is on the short list of places to eat(wings, beef on weck, Fran Ceils) when visiting. The other soft serve brands have never quite measured up.

I miss this place! Awesome custard, low-fat selection, and sorbet! This place was a staple of summer days in Lackawanna! Cheap ice cream, and a lot of it!

We would take the kids there on the way home up Route 62 to Buffalo after visiting the Eden Corn Festival or Erie County Fair, there’s nothing quite as delicious as the creamy taste of real frozen custard. Teach them the differences between«soft serve», ice milk, ice cream, and frozen custard: «In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration requires products marketed as frozen custard to contain at least 10 percent milkfat and 1.4 percent egg yolk solids. If it has fewer egg yolk solids, it is considered ice cream.» Have a frozen custard and take some home to your freezer. Fran and Ceil’s has an amazing variety of too many flavors of ice cream to choose from. Check the website if it’s winter to see when they open for their long spring-summer-fall season. example, March 1, 2013. see twitter for their rotating flavor updates at:

No summer is complete without a trip to Fran-Ceils! Sure you can hit up the chain ice cream place, but why? Fran-Ceils has a great selection of delicious frozen treats and drinks all at nice prices! My suggestion is to go with either cookie dough or Butterfinger Articswirl!

Good but very artificial at times especially their flavors of the week. I just had the banana and it looked like a day glo pastel that one would use to paint a kids bedroom. The taste was much the same. I do enjoy some of their flavors but they are not the best custard place in western ny.

When I was a little girl, going for ice cream at Custard’s Last Stand was super exciting. I have so many memories of that little place in Amherst I used to ride my bike to on warm summer nights – until one day it became Anderson’s. I love Anderson’s, but it doesn’t have the same overal feel as Custard’s did. It is hard to explain, but I can even still remember the distinct Custard’s smell as you’d walk inside. Fran-Ceil’s was introduced to me by my boyfriend, not long ago, who is from the South Buffalo area. I feel like what Fran-Ceil’s is to him is like what Custard’s was to me back then. It is an old school, local business, which is always busy because of their delicious homemade custard. I love it, especially because they have a nice variety of ice cream flavors for really good prices. They also have the low calorie option: Wow Cow custard which I get when they have a good flavor. it is always a nice treat to go here for ice cream.

There is just something about supporting a local business open its doors or screen windows every summer. Some of my best memories surround this place. When I was younger my father would take us here for some ice cream, we would have to promise not to tell mom because it would spoil our dinners! They have some of the best soft serve ice cream in WNY. Their prices are always reasonable and they have never run out of sprinkles for my chocolate vanilla twist. If you are looking for a great local ice cream shop, this is it!
