Latin American Institute

I love the Latin American Institute! I take a beginner Spanish class here on Saturdays. I have attended many language schools for 4 different languages, and the teaching style and workbook here are the best I’ve experienced.
Carlos, the owner, is a really great teacher. He will work with your level to make sure you’re in the right class. He is helpful, patient and explains everything very thoroughly. He never rushes through the material. I feel like I have already learned so much in just 14 weeks.
The great thing about language schools is that they generally attract only the very motivated types. It’s not like high school; I am in class with two other students who also very much want to learn Spanish. We help each other out and keep each other motivated. Did you notice I said two other students? The classes are small, which is great! It allows for a lot of practice and attention that you wouldn’t necessarily find in a typical classroom setting. I’ve even ended up having two private lessons already when the other two classmates didn’t show up.
The rates are very good, and cheaper than I’ve paid in other cities. If you’re not ready to commit, you can try out any class for free! I did this, and I already knew I wanted to sign up within the first few minutes.
I am very particular about the instruction and book we use when learning languages. The book is called ‘Spanish is Fun’ and — I am not even kidding — really, I never thought I’d say this — it is ACTUALLY a fun book to use. It doubles as a workbook and it’s very straight-​forward. My classmates and I love the book so much we actually do the work ahead of time in preparation for the following week’s lesson. The classes are conversational. We really have a lot of opportunities to talk and laugh at ourselves when trying to «roll» the letter R.
I know that the Latin American Institute also offers Italian, Portuguese and salsa lessons, which I’ve heard great things about. It’s a great atmosphere too. A very sunny, typical Allentown-​style house. An awesome place to learn.

The best place in all Buffalo to take salsa dance class. The classes are very small, so it awesome. The Institute also offered Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian, but I can’t give you feedback because I never taken any of those courses.

Voy al Instituto de Latinoamerica para aprender y practicar el espanol. Es muy bueno y me divierto mucho. Los estudiantes son muy amables y inteligentes.
Es una lastima que tenga que levantarme a las 8 en la mañana todos los sabados!
Hay clases de espanol, italiano y portugues tambien.
