I just had an excellent customer service experience. My mom purchased two identical rectangular pillows from Room, both stenciled with the word«Buffalo» and the coordinates of the city(latitude and longitude). She gave one pillow to my dad and the other to me as Christmas gifts. Shortly thereafter, we discovered that the paint used to stencil the letters and numbers on the pillow was water soluble and wiped off with a damp paper towel. It would have been impossible to wash or even spot clean the front of the pillow case without also removing the stenciling. Today, well beyond the 14-day return policy stated on the receipt, my mom and I brought the pillows back to the store to see if there was anything we could do to protect the paint on the front of the pillow case(Scotchgard wasn’t going to cut it). As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted by an associate. We briefly explained our concern to the associate, and then without even batting an eye or even checking our receipt he apologized, stated that he was unaware of this issue, and immediately offered to exchange the pillows for other merchandise. We ended up selecting different Buffalo-themed pillows. Room offers beautiful contemporary furniture and home décor, and after spending time looking around the store and observing the quality of their merchandise, it’s obvious that the faulty pillows were an anomaly and in no way typical of the products sold by Room. My mom and I were both impressed with this customer service experience and appreciate the attention we received.

If you’re shopping for new, contemporary furniture, this is the place to go in Buffalo. Their new showroom on Hertel Avenue is a feast for the eyes and sure to inspire you to more adventurous decorating in your own home. While the selection in the showroom is not enormous, there are plenty of options for just about every room of the home. They also offer a wide range of accessories for every taste and space. I have found the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful. Even when the store was busy just a few days before Christmas, the clerk I worked with spent a lot of time helping me out and seemed really committed to assisting me in making the right choice for my room. I didn’t end up buying that day but she gave me lots of great information and I’ll be back to purchase in the near future.

I have visited Room three times, once at their previous location and twice at their new location. My presence in the store was ignored and unacknowledged each time I visited by the same sales associate. Poor customer service.

Now located on Hertel Ave– this is an amazing furniture store. The owners have great minimalist style and were incredibly helpful in every sense of the word to us when we first moved to Buffalo. Not only did they help us furnish our home, they also gave us a list of restaurants to try, galleries to checkout and yoga places in the neighborhood. The items are pricey but worth it– beautifully crafted. We ordered a bed and had a couch made. Both are great and will definitely be with us for a long time. When our bed took a few extra weeks to get to us, Room waived the delivery fee. They really simplified the stressful act of decorating.

I love Room. The showroom is a fantasy world of what my living room could look like. Lots of simple but elegant nature themed art, simple and well made couches and chairs, as well as classy accouterments for the kitchen. Basically you order a couch, and customize the legs, the fabric and they’ll make the couch for you. You can also design your own carpet by specifying the colors and the design. It’s a great idea, so you can make truly unique thing for your house or apartment. Much alike many designer furniture stores it’s $$$$. I’m sure you’re not surprised, but the few things I have been able to afford are worth it. The friendly staff is helpful when needed, but also considerate to browsers who are not intent on buying any furniture. Very helpful if you don’t like the«pushy commission-needing» furniture salesman stereotype.
