Walls of yarn! There were ladies knitting when we arrived, there’s quite a selection and so many colors!

My husband and I walked into this tucked away shop and I only made it about a foot before I had both hands submerged in a basket full of yarn and a big doofy smile on my face. I turned to my hubby who was digging out his wallet and he handed me some cash and said I will be back in a while. AWESOME! The shop is shaped like a backwards L. There is a little room off to the left of the door and then there is a longer room straight ahead. I just started walking and touching. Having been to a pretty large amount of yarn shops at this point in my life I have to say that this shop is the mother-load. I bow down to their variety and quantity of yarn. Amazing! The only think in retrospect that I did not come across was corn fiber yarn and I don’t remember seeing PJ’s fleece yarn — but that might have been in a bin I didn’t come across. Their selection of kits was the best I have ever seen and I walked out with 2 box kits and the desire for more than I could afford. The reason this wonderful little jewel of a shop did not get 5 stars from me had to do with the little room to the left of the door. This is the area where knitters sit and knit and also where you check out. When I entered the shop I could hear the three women sitting at the table knitting. They were talking about things that were a little … sensitive.(But maybe that was just me not wanting to hear that it is against God’s nature to take birth control and that is why all these women in their 30’s can’t get pregnant… And that people who give their kids Kool Aid are terrible people. And it went on and on and on…) I get that when you get into a knitting circle you talk pretty openly about stuff — but I think when you are knitting in a store you might want to be a little careful about the topics you talk about so that you don’t make your other customers uncomfortable. And I can assume that these women were aware of this because the moment I stepped from the hallway into the room, the room went uncomfortably quiet and I felt like an unwelcome intruder. I was not asked if I needed help — I was just made to feel like an unwelcome outsider. It was really uncomfortable and I got out of that room and went back out into the main yarn area to shop some more and wait for my hubby to come back so I would not have to face the circle of knitters alone when I had to check out. The check out area is very awkward in this store as well. They have a table that is loaded with stuff on it that you can set your purchases on to be rung up. The register is on a wall two or three feet away from the table. It just felt really awkward and I think they should consider redesigning the area a little bit so that it is easier to check out. If you are in the area I would definitely recommend swinging in and taking a look at the amazing selection. They have a frequent shoppers program as well. Despite the weirdness in the room at the left — I will come back to this store again. The yarn selection was just that good!
