Let me start off by saying this place has the absolute worst customer service I have ever received. Never tried them before, was looking for a place open late ordered fried dough and a cheese slice took at least 2hrs to arrive. After taking forever to arrive I pay the deliver lady and she hands me back the wrong amount … And believe my math wasn’t off… I would have tipped her anyways so I thought that was super shady but I let it go. The slice was cold cheese hard… The sugar on the fried dough had started to clump but it was still fried dough. I always give places a 2nd try ordered friend dough and a taco on the phone they tell me one price and the same delivery lady arrives and the price has gone up $ 7 how?! The delivery lady is saying oh we never gave you a price and when I call to speak to the lady who took my order she goes oh that’s the price I gave you. I asked to speak to a manager and was never put through … I don’t mind paying for food but I refuse to be ripped off for mediocre food. Will never order from here again– if you want customer service and decent food don’t count on zips. Avoid this place like the plague.

This place got its name from all the snitches and informants that go here for pizza. They are suffering from a worrying and self-sacrificing lack of Zips, and so they come here to try and acquire some. I did not like this Zip’s as much as my favourite Zip’s, and indeed one of my fave Pizzerias and Wingerias in the world, which is on Hertel near Commonwealth, not far from Colvin. This slice was fresh, with tons and tons of cheese, and lots of pepperoni and grease. It was very similar to the other Zip’s, but just not quite as tasty, also not quite piping hot enough for my taste(I know it was reheated, but still), and it didn’t sit very well in the middle of a food tour… some slices do(hello Chuck’s), and some don’t and this one didn’t. It’s a good slice, no doubt, and if you’re on Grant Street and want a good slice, while I think La Nova is better, I definitely think the slices here will satisfy a craving for Buffalo style Pizza. I was slightly annoyed that Unilocal wouldn’t let me check into this place when I was there. It said«easy tiger». OK Unilocal, thanks for the trust. Yeah I just drive around checking into random places without eating there. That’s exactly what I do. Bravo. How did you know.(rolls eyes) This place was the 3rd place on my «crazy Monday evening food tour» which consisted of some WOW places(Spice Bazaar, Kalypso), some very good places(Kung Food, Osteria), some places I didn’t order from(Guercio’s stop making sandwiches at 3pm, Luca was out of blood orange sorbetto) and also Press Raw Juice Bar(delicious and expensive), Zip’s Pizza on Grant(not as good as the Hertel one), and Old Pink(wasn’t into it). I went to so many places in such a short space of time that Unilocal wouldn’t even let me check into all of them. Typical me. Unilocal needs to buy new servers to keep up with me.

This is probably going to be another review I write that is not helpful but oh well… I went to a friends birthday on Saturday and they got pizza from Zip’s. It was my first time having it but everyone said that it was great. I’ve actually had my friend say she LOVES Zip’s Pizza and it’s the only thing she orders. I was surprised I’ve never heard of it. The pizza was very good! We got a full sheet with cheese and pepperoni. I like when the crust is slightly thick and this was perfect! Extra cheesy, which is another huge plus! Everyone was raving about their«homemade blue cheese» and I was bummed that I didn’t get to try it. Can’t honestly speak for the price or customer service because I didn’t buy or order it, I just consumed it. See, I told you this is not a helpful review!

It’s time for Buffalo to step up in the pizza department. So far it’s been a real letdown. Zip’s continues the trend. Nothing remarkable here. Crust is in the thin but not NYC thin category and seems cheap(reminds me of pizza hut). Sauce is an OK balance of sweet and tangy, but lacks character. Toppings also nothing to write home about. They did avoid overloading the pizza with cheese, a common trend around here, but that’s a small plus. This place is affiliated with Wise Guy’s on Hertel. I’m hoping the Hertel location has better quality since I still need to find a good local pizza joint.
