Genesis Salon Hamilton Mill

I’ve been coming to this salon for several years now, and always to Karinna. I have long, fine, brunette hair that is very easily damaged from processing. I also like subtle color adjustments on a frequent basis. So far over the years Karinna has taken me from black, to red, to blonde ombré, to brunette, to rose-​gold ombré, to black… all with minimal damage. I should also mention that while I come in with references, I should emphasize that I like subtleties, and she always always understands me.
I don’t require much in the way of elaborate haircuts, so I really can’t comment on that, but if her talents in cutting are anything like her talents with hair color and skill with communication, you’ll be fine!
The salon itself is always clean, and I appreciate that they stay updated on trends as well as the classics. The recent switch from Redken to Keune/​Bb products was such a welcome change! Redken salons are everywhere! If you want to try something new, come here. The Keune products smell amazing.
(It’s not worth docking a star, but if I could offer the salon some constructive criticism, the shallow sofas under the heaters may save space, but gosh, they’re uncomfortable. You won’t hear me complain if something a little deeper was brought in so I could stop sliding off.)

Prices are reasonable and Hannah is great!

I used to drive to the city for a great cut but this is way more affordable and I walk out feeling just as pampered. I have received services from several of their level 2 and 3 stylist and they have all been super friendly and talented.

No matter who does my hair I love it !!!

I have been many times to Genesis Salon for hair cuts and they were good– affordable and looked good
Unfortunately the first time I had my hair highlighted was by Chris, a level 2.
I believe she left the bleach on my hair for 40+ min and my hair is fine. She left the main Salon area and did not check on me. After all was said and done, I got a hair cut that I had to go back and get fixed and was left with ugly highlights. My hair also became unbrushable because of tangles from being over processed.
The worst part was that for an educational salon, a manager never checked on me and the novice stylist. I think they could have prevented the over processing and checked to make sure the highlights and cut looked good.

Keira has done amazing work with my hair every time I have visited her! Extreme attention to detail made my first experience memorable as I was in the salon to get my hair colored and cut for my wedding day. She took the extra time to make sure it was perfect and asked me several times over if I was happy with it! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. All of the other girls in the salon seemed very nice as well!

I have extremely curly, fine and unruly hair. It also grows very slowly.
I’ve dealt with this for YEARS by wearing my hair either in a ponytail or back in a clip and getting it cut every 6 to 9 months (typically stopping at whatever Great Clips was nearby and getting «whoever is available» to cut it).
As you might imagine, I’ve had some DOOZY hair cuts. When you are a Curly Girl, you already deal with a love-​hate hair relationship… so when a friend recommended Genesis at Hamilton Mill, I had the stereotypical salon «image» in my head… overly coiffed and overly made-​up women spending Ridiculous Amounts of Money for a haircut, giving each other air kisses and talking nonsense about «let’s do lunch».
Utter silliness.

But my friend kept telling me how GREAT it was, so I went. And I met a wonderful (fellow Curly Girl) named JEN who «gets» my hair (because — eureka! — she has the SAME hair!) She was kind, listened to everything I said, discussed options with me, etc. then proceeded to give me one of THE best (if not the best) haircuts I’ve ever had.
My hair is now bouncy, full and HAPPY (much like me, I might add).
I cannot say enough about how positive my experience was!
AND — as a surprise bonus — the prices were WAY less expensive than I was expecting. (Actually, it only cost me slightly more than that crappy, assembly line haircut I used to get at Great Clips.)
Call me a satisfied customer.

As someone who hair EXTREME hair salon anxiety, I can truthfully say I am overjoyed with Genesis Salon. My first visit was ¼ with CJ. I walked into a beautiful, inviting salon. I set an appointment at 2 and CJ was ready to go as soon as I got there! My appointment was originally for just highlights but I ended up getting highlights and lowlights. CJ listened to my concerns about my hair and what I wanted then confidently gave me a solution that created a result better than what I even imagined. I then asked her about hair care and she talked to me about a few products without being pushy which I love. I ended up buying shampoo and conditioner from the salon which I never do. I will definitely be going back to Genesis and have CJ do my hair again!

I visited Genesis for the first time today to get a new haircut. If you’re a follower of my reviews you know I have had a really difficult time finding a stylist that not only isn’t outrageously expensive but also who understands my vision when it comes to my hairstyle. And I am proud to say I found it here at Genesis! The pricing is truly amazing and my stylist is great! She knew exactly what kind of look I was going for and was actually almost as excited as I was to make it happen! Also, when I asked for advice about color she didn’t just brush me off or tell me anything I said ie. Orange would look amazing on me :) We talked about different ideas and how they would look with my features she gave me her honest input which to me is a vital part of a good working relationship. As for the salon it is new, clean and comfortable the front is a bit brightly colored but the back is more calm with blues and whites. Overall, a relaxing fun experience and I walked out really pleased with my new look. I am also thrilled to let you know that I went ahead and set up a color appointment & my next haircut appointment in advance (I NEVER do this!) My point is if you live in the middle of no where like me and don’t want to drive into the city to get your hair done definitely make it a point to try this salon out.
