We stopped in at the end of our weekend outing while driving home; we had no reservation. They sat us immediately and the service was excellent. They have a special breed of beef that is a cross between Kobe and Angus(correct me if I’m wrong), but this steak is so good. Totally a 5 star quality restaurant that you can wear jeans to. I would recommend they put some motorcycle parking near the entrance of the restaurant next to the handicapped parking.

This steakhouse came highly recommended to us and it did not disappoint! The KC Steak meal for 5 that my family ordered was delicious. All of the sides were tasty, and we especially enjoyed the Chuck Wagon Potatoes and green chile Mac. My husband said that the pan-seared KC Steak was among the best he’s had. We will definitely be coming back.

The website on this Unilocal app is incorrect. This is Tejas steakhouse, not Texas steakhouse and saloon. Tejas is privately owned and is located at 401 Obst Rd in Bulverde. Texas steakhouse is a chain restaurant. Tejas is an amazing steakhouse that sits on the grounds of a rodeo venue. The live music outdoors and the small shopping market make it a wonderful place for families to visit and corporate outings.

Good food. Must make a reservation or you may be sitting outside. A little pricey but overall a good place to eat before or after the awesome rodeo.

The best steak I have ever had. Yummy rolls too. Great sweet potato fries. Salad as OK. Pretty far out there, so I’ve never seen it very crowded, but I have not been there when they are having a rodeo. Everyone I’ve took there/recommended it to has said it was the best steak they have ever eaten. Yum!

Came to enjoy a nice meal, ordered with excited. At the time there was a rodeo going on but the restaurant was sort of empty and now I know why. Ordered the chicken fried chicken while the rest of my party ordered steaks, needless to say the food was mediocre to say the least. Super cold, and tasteless, small portions and water down drinks. Should’ve just went to the BBQ stand outside, it at least looked a little better.

Visiting family and they had a groupon for Tejas Steakhouse & Saloon. I like steak, how could I say no? We decided to order the KC Style steak for 5 cooked medium to medium-well(which waitress said was more like a medium-rare to medium and she was right). It comes in what looks like bite-sized form and it is absolutely delicious. I opted for the steak on the more medium-rare side. It was season and cooked to perfection. We went on a friday so there was almost no one there, but looks like a very fun place on a Saturday with a rodeo stadium right behind the salon and an outdoor stage and dance floor. Lots of animal heads mounted on the walls inside the steakhouse & salon. Absolutely fun experience and amazing steak!

Very good home cooked style food in a hidden location in the beauty of the Texas hill country. My wife and I had biscuits and gravy and French toast, both of which were homemade served with biscuits on the side. The service was fabulous, they were attentive and the price was reasonable. I’m looking forward to going back and having the Kobe beef ribeye for dinner one evening.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and had excellent drinks from the bar. The poor waiter was either new, or just completely lost. We waited forever for service. The food was worth the wait. My steak was incredible! A bit pricy for what you get, but I would still recommend going before the rodeo.

Wow — this place is cool! Rodeo and outdoor BBQ stand on one end, sitdown restaurant on the other. The outdoor area was gorgeous, and they let us sit out there with my brother’s dog. Get the KC steak, just do it. It’s Akaushi beef(a kobe like beef that you can’t even get outside of TX), specially seasoned and served as tasty, tender nuggets of perfection. The wild boar and caramelized pineapple camp bread was good, but I should have skipped it and saved more room for steak!

We went this past Saturday with another couple and then did the rodeo. The biscuits were great, the rest average at best. The food came out right after the salad and we felt as though they were in a hurry to get us to finish. Two of us got their specialty rib eyes which were okay but not $ 32 a whack. The girls got burgers and they were underwhelmed too. I asked about their wild game of the day and it was Lamb. I thought maybe wild hog or buffalo but lamb? The rodeo was five star though. Nice people and a nice waitress but food marginal.

Wandered in after grabbing a room from them off airbnb. Sign out front says Steak & Whiskey. Had the Wedge salad, KC style steak for 1 and a loaded baked potato. Everything was top notch. Sat at the bar, my neighbor had the rack of lamb and it looked amazing. GM came by several times, bar tender was knowledgable, sometimes a blind squirrel finds a nut. Highly recommended.

I did not give higher rating just because of real slow service, waiting approx 45minutes. Not acceptable. My smoked brisket enchiladas were best ever anywhere. Others had mostly steak choices and mostly not favorable comments. I did have a bite of one. Was tuff/chewy…not good. Very beautiful setting and all us first visit. I came back later for dessert of peach cobbler and soft ice cream. Really good. Really good and helpful service this time. I would sure return for the enchiladas and cobbler, yes sir.

Tejas steakhouse and rodeo — as I write our order has taken 1 hour and it’s still not here! The manager apologized and took care of some of our check. It was the right thing to do. Their angus rib eye for $ 26 was not worth it! Pass on that! He brought out some of the KC beef and it was very good.

Wow! Just wow! My wife and I had Valentine’s dinner here and it was AWESOME! We had never even heard of this place before one of my wife’s sisters posted the Valentine’s Day menu on Facebook. The service was absolutely perfect, the meal was perfect, the ambiance was perfect. I could not have asked for anything to be better! Seriously. I was actually a little worried after reading some of the negative comments on Unilocal and almost cancelled our reservations! I am so glad we went in spite of the few naysayers. The salad was great, the wine was great, the mussels were great, and then came the steak and lobster. OMG! Our steaks and lobsters were cooked to perfection! The desert was a red velvet cake with a strawberry sauce and strawberry buttercream icing with chunks of chocolate. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. And then the General Manager, Tom, came over to make sure everything was good. We told him that it was absolutely wonderful! We are certainly going back again! We even asked for a menu at the end of the meal to see what is regularly on the menu, and started planning our next date night! Super super impressed! My wife said our server’s name was Rebecca. Next time we make a reservation we are also going to make sure she waits on us. I was so impressed we left a 30%+ tip! Rebecca, you spoiled us!

I came in from Austin to visit friends and family and my friend took me to Tejas Steak House. I was not certain what to expect driving through some pretty dark roads we finally made it. I was not certain what to think it reminded me of some of the Honkey Tonks i had seen out in College Station, Bryan, and Tomball. We were greeted by the Hostess who made us feel at home and introduced to an amazing waitress named Jennifer. We mentioned to Jennifer we have never been here and wanted to know what where her favorites she would recommend from the menu. I ordered the KC Steak for one with the sides of a loaded baked potato and green hatch mac. The KC steak cooked medium was juicy and filled with wonderful flavors. I don’t believe I have ever had a cut of meat with a richness of flavor like this. The sides complimented the dish and the Mac added a nice spice to follow the flavor of the steak. The dishes are well portioned and we ordered the bread pudding for desert and we shared it it had a wonderful flavor too. Jennifer filled our glasses when we were empty and made some amazing recommendations for our dining experience. Thank you for your suggestions!!! We will be back again and we will bring our families. The live music was excellent and our friend who had never really listened to country music had an opportunity to listen to some classics.

We found this place on the internet. We had the KC steak which was cooked to perfection and with a very good flavor. The Mac and cheese with the green peppers was awesome. Would come back.

We thought we’d check out the restaurant as we’re hoping to head to the rodeo there in March, and we had a Groupon. It’s way out in the countryside; a pretty drive, and the restaurant itself is cool; sepia photographs and a plethora of stuffed animal heads on the walls help it to resemble an old-time saloon. The staff is super-friendly and helpful. Our delightful waiter, Nicholas, had nothing but bad news for us. Everything we tried to order was no longer offered. Apparently there will be a new menu before the rodeo gets under way in early March, but right now at least 40% of the items were not available. This is partly due to the fact that they no longer have a chef and will not be hiring another. Unfortunately they took off some of the most exciting items, such as the cast-iron brisket enchiladas and the Rocky Mountain Oysters. Salmon and shrimp were not available, and neither was any wild game. We shared the pork tamales as an appetizer. It was cleverly presented and partially deconstructed. Alas, the meat on top was cold, although the actual tamales were warmer. But the flavor was good. The pepper-cheddar biscuits were above-average. For an entrée, my husband had the Akaushi ribeye. It was not the best. We buy Akaushi ourselves and we know that it can be hit or miss, so although we were a little disappointed we were not surprised. My Duroc pork chop was served medium-rare, which is unacceptable, although they pointed out that they normally serve it this way. I asked for it to be cooked a little more and it was delicious — but if you order it, make sure you ask for it to be thoroughly cooked. While I was waiting they brought me a cup of carrot soup, which was thoughtful. The green chili mac and cheese was wonderful, and they kindly cooked my green beans without onion. They have a cool offer of «Cabernet for a Cause» where some of the proceeds go to cancer research, so we ordered a Clos du Bois on the recommendation of a knowledgeable waitress. It was very good. I was torn between two or three stars, but on balance I’m giving it two because of the sad, sad menu. We will come back and try it again when the new menu is available, and give it another chance.

This is my 3rd visit to Tejas Steakhouse, and I had a better experience on my previous two so I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt with this review. The positives are that the atmosphere is awesome — located in an isolated area on the edge of the Texas Hill Country just North of San Antonio, it’s a beautiful rural setting. There are several rustic buildings on the property, including a stage area and a rodeo building where they hold events on Saturday nights in season. It’s really a fun place to visit and attend an event after dinner. On a previous visit I had a tasty grilled, stuffed, and bacon-wrapped jalapeño appetizer, but as of 1÷19÷14 it’s no longer on the menu. I also had a very tender prime rib about 18 months ago, but I was told this item is now served only on special occasions. Tonight I splurged on a 12 oz Akaushi Ribeye(the American raised Kobe /Wagyu beef) which I expected to be exceptional — it wasn’t. It was cooked a perfect medium(maybe a little red, but it worked for me) but it was tough and had some gristle. Really? Tough and gristly Akaushi beef — how is that possible? My baked potato was severely undercooked, so much so that I couldn’t smash it with my fork. My wife’s potato was the same, so mine wasn’t just an exception. My side Caesar salad looked attractive but didn’t have the flavor I was hoping for. Because the complimentary biscuits provided a positive addition to the meal, as well as the creamy green chile mac & cheese, and because I’ve had better experiences in the past, I’m giving Tejas the benefit of the doubt with 3 stars instead of 2.
