We were making some pit-stops along the way, and the hubs had to put in gas. I’m so glad that he stopped by the Citgo, as it was attached to B&L Country Store. This place is family-owned and operated since ’81, and they offer gas, basic groceries, live bait for fishing, and daily specials. When we walked in, there was a little hot-food counter in the back and we decided to get their pulled pork — they had 2 kinds: Carolina style and VA style, so I actually asked if I could get ½ and ½. All nestled in a hamburger bun with coleslaw and hot sauce on the side, this was really delicious!!! The Carolina-style, which can usually be extremely vinegary, actually was just the right amount of tanginess with a lot of flavor — don’t forget to dip it in the spicy hot sauce, as that kicks it up a bit! The VA style, while on the sweeter side, was not too sweet, and had a nice little kick to it. Both were delicious in its own regards, and the coleslaw was creamy and fresh. Antoine, who was there in serving up some great foods, was SOOO unbelievably sweet and had a great sense of humor — I’d love to go back and try out their hot dogs(topped with pulled pork), fried chicken, and other specials. Definitely a great little spot to stop by for some great pulled pork sandwiches: D +Carolina-style and VA-style pulled pork: D +ask for Antoine: D +attached to Citgo

Stopped here with my boyfriend on the brink of starvation. I got the vinegar based pulled pork sandwich; they have a sauce based option as well. I ate it really fast but remember it being pretty good. My boyfriend got chicken tenders and enjoyed them. He raved about the honey mustard dipping sauce our entire drive home. The employees were all very nice.

Since B&L is pretty much in the middle of nowhere(ie. Bumpass) its automatically one of the best place to stop by and get fishing bait, some soda, gas, or a sandwich. It used to be pretty run down, but ever since they expanded a while back it actually looks like a proper, modern store. Thank god I moved.
