The 3rd Annual Haunted Mansion Tribute Art lived up to every last one of my spooktastic expectations. The only art show openings I had previously attended were sterile, silent, holy than thou events that I felt horribly uncomfortable at; events where being in my own skin just didn’t seem to cut it. The line of suped up, classic hearses outside the storefront, put me right at ease; and to be fair gave me a Dr. Frankenstein jolt of excitement. I have been armed with a deep love of Disney’s Haunted Mansion Attraction since I first climbed into one of their doom buggies as a kid. In the past two years I have seen the Haunted Mansion tribute art post gallery showings, but was determined to be on the ball about it this year. I really admire that they have many of the same artists contribute each year, it makes for a very interesting evolution of their ideas. The setup directed all the boils and ghouls to small tables, each containing the prints of one of the artists. I give them a whopping A+ for making sure that each artists’ table had a large variety of their pieces, and not just the ones displayed in the show. I mentioned in my Halloween Town review that the prices for prints seem reasonable and I reiterate that as being the case. The showpieces themselves were on display in the parlour area. As beautiful or detailed as they many look in the prints, the vivid textures and colors of the actual paintings knocked my stripy stockings off ! At the Halloween Town art shows they go on merit so to speak, and don’t have any of the pieces walled off, bonjour up close and personal ! The statue/3D pieces were incredible. Featured artists include: William Basso, The Creep, Curioddities, Dienzo, Frank Dietz, Hideousboi, Eric Pigors, Daniel Horne, Bob Lizarraga, Queenie, Dan Szczepanski, Wolfinger and Zombienose. Queenie and Hideousboi we on hand, walking about and taking snapshots. While I was already a fan of the art of Queenie, Dienzo, Bob Lizarraga, William Basso, and selected pieces by Eric Pigors, seeing work from new artists had my brain a’ buzzin’. You do not have to be a «goth» to enjoy this art show, it really is for everyone. I haven’t described any of the works here because I really do encourage YOU to go for yourself ! For your convenience:
