These 5 stars are for the memories I have of dinning at this Barkers Square. I reminder when it first opened as a Poop’n Fresh back in the ’80’s. This Closing is a sad reminder that the southwest side of Chicago has gone down in the last 25 years.

Was gonna stop here last week and was SHOCKED they are out of business! WTF??? This place had remodeled, revamped their menu and their food was GREAT! How could this be closed and that GARBAGE called APPLEBEES at Ford City still be open???

As always the Bakers Square franchise is always on point. Not only with the pies of course, which of course would compel you to drag granny in just on that note. Although I am not impressed with the way the caddy or the preserves is rather disgustingly filthy, that just brought it down to a three star. I looked around at the other caddies with marmalade and jelly and yup, they too are quite disgustingly gross. I asked the waiter and he stated that he hadn’t noticed. Now excuse me if I wrong, but is that the best you can say? Didn’t at let me clean it up, didn’t say sorry for this disgustingly wrong way to show tht we are any good. I am really not going to throw banter to the wind but more so will not be a returning patron no matter how much I enjoy the food. I wish I could really speak of the food but unfortunately this whole concept of dingy caddy’s is messing with my mind, but I’ll try. The breakfast platters are really nice in the fact that they give you a lot for your buck. I like the fact also that they have a nice breakfast selection and that the fruit seems really fresh when in season. Their drinks are good too(not alcoholic) but hey no one is perfect. The lemonades are nice and I do enjoy the fact that their water does not have that pipe taste from the faucet, could it be they are giving filtered water? Hmmm makes you wonder. Okay enough of that, this is still a good weekend spot regardless, but they have to get on the ball when it comes to the caddy’s because I don’t like places that don’t clean up after others, come on guys get it together.

Horrible food and even worse service tonight! I wish i could give –10 stars!!! After waiting over 15 minutes for an omelet in a basically empty restaurant. I was told by my server that the chef mistakenly added mushrooms(I have an allergy) and had to make it over. After another 10 minutes or so, I was brought something that I’m still trying to figure out! It definitely wasn’t an omelet. It was scrambled egg-ish, but not quite… So I tell the server that I wasn’t pleased and she looks shocked and agitated. I was really nice about it. I said I would pay for the english muffin, but I did not want the mystery egg dish or the odd looking fruit! She grabs the plate with a little more attitude than I liked and saying she would tell the manager. WELL, if the manager would have come over to my table, I would have told her myself! However, she did not come to my table, address the issues or say ANYTHING!!! The server says, the manager is going to take everything off. to me that was a no brainer! I didn’t eat anything! Including the english muffin that was chilling(literally) on the plate in front of me! As I was leaving, the manager looks up and turns her back … she did not address me at all! I guess I’m more disappointed with the lack of professionalism that I am with the bad food!

Not great but not bad. Food is decent(eat there, their food doesn’t seem to reheat well), portions are smaller than average, a little over priced but with a coupon you make out pretty well. Best to go here during the day or when you see a full parking lot. I avoid going late or when empty. The food quality drops dramatically and the servers get chatty and lazy. The pie is decent. Tastes the same as every other Baker Square(almost like it came out of a factory). The pie has taken a turn downwards over the past years though. Sometimes overly sweet, and other times taste like it was frozen too long. But, it’s still better than what you get at the grocery store(like Jewel or Fairplay). Overall i’d give it closer to 2.5 if I could(just because of the pie).

There are two things that make this place great: Robert(waiter) and the PIE! I haven’t been to Bakers Square in many years mainly because the food wasn’t that great but in recent months I have been three times. The food was good and the pie was better but each time my waiter ROBERT gave me great service. If you ever go to this Bakers Square ask to be seated in his section. He never forgets about you or lets your glass go empty. Without him there I wouldn’t go, no offense to the other waitstaff. Ask him how he likes the Bulls. Inside joke lol. Well, enjoy and remember to be seated in Roberts section. Also, the bathrooms are always clean(womens anyway) and usually no wait if you go in the late afternoon, early evening. Free pie on Wednesdays, the Brownie and Apple are my favorite.

Lackluster experience — just got pie slices to go — not the flavors of yesteryear that’s for sure. Coconut cream tasted nothing like coconut and the key lime lacked the citrus zing I remember. Just don’t make em like they used to I guess.

I love this place! I usually go for dinner and I get the honey mustard pita with extra honey on the side and my husband gets the cheese burger. I also love the Friesland a side order, they are good. I also love their sampler. I like that the place is not packed and there’s usually older people dinning in because I hate eating around loud and annoying people. Sometimes the servers are bad, depends on who you get, but I keep going because of their food

A friend and I had breakfast here recently. Service and food are ok. The menu is nothing to write home about. Prices are lower, but so are portions. The place is average. I guess they make a killing on the pies because the place never seems packed.

I went here because of «free pie Wednesdays» Pie was good as usual but our waitress was horrible, the coffee was lukewarm, the soup was lukewarm. Dinner prices are cheaper but it reflects on the smaller portion size.

I’ve gone to many a Bakers Square in my life… less now only because these seem to be getting harder to find. This Bakers Square is probably my favorite because the food and service are both always tip-top. I can always go here expecting a decent meal. Pies are good in every Bakers Square but the food is not always as good as the pies. In this Bakers Square, the food and the pies are equally good which is quite the feat. Check this place out, you won’t be disappointed.

You know… these type of eateries just aren’t my thang. However, based on the suggestion for an old school friend we met here. It was very difficult to pick something off the menu. I decided on the flat bread sandwich, it was decent. No major complaints and nothing to really acclaim as wonderful. Just fair.

My mom and I had lunch here last week. You can get a lunch combo that includes soup or salad, half sandwich and a piece of pie for $ 8. The food was decent, but the coconut cream pie and coffee were the whole reason to be there. Server took good care of us as well… not a destination stop, but if you’re in the area, you could do worse.

Fine. I have a not so secret sick love of various suburban dining chains including this one. I brought a date here and he wasn’t too disgusted, I hope, but the service was friendly, the food was the usual Bakers Square fare which I am always a fan of, and they did have some very attractive prizes in the claw game prize pit. I’m sure I’ll be back for a pre Haunted Trails din din. Did you hear that Martha Z, me and you are coming here ASAP.

I was back in the old stomping grounds the other day and went here for lunch. Mostly the retiree, read the Sun Times, have 3 cups of coffee crowd. I am not expecting a life changing dining experience at Baker’s Square but boy the service was terrible. They acted like they were swamped even though it wasn’t crowded, maybe they were short staffed. We waited a long time for our food. They overcharged us and as we went to pay 3 other customers were complaining about the wait, service, etc. The pie was good though.

They get two stars because I still love their pies and at least, that is still good. We ordered their appetizer platter and it was so sad and not worth the money. Four measly onion rings and the chicken strips were tiny — at least half of what we’re used to. We both got burgers and I requested fruit next to mine. Well, I ended up with fries and their reason being that at 2pm, they have run out of fresh fruit. My burger bun was dripping and sopped in BUTTER and my burger patty was this tiny little thing. I was so disappointed. I coudln’t even finish it because that’s how disappointed I was — I just wanted to go straight to dessert. One of my biggest pet peeves is that I know that I look young. but when I am still eating my meal and you don’t ask me if I want anything else, you put my check on the table!!! I am a young professional darn it! I am in my mid-20s so stop treating me like a high school kid!(Then again — there were only two other tables there and those occupants were at least in their mid-50s, 60s) I wanted to order pie but when waitors/waitresses do that — that really pisses me off and I don’t want to order anything more. Instead, we just got a pie to go.

Not really a good place to go for an actual meal… but definitely an awesome place to get some really great dessert. Their pies are absolutely delicious. And they have so many to choose from! French silk, pecan, apple, cocunut crème… just to name a few. There’s something for everyone here. I’ve been getting pies from here for years… and they have always been fresh and great tasting!
