Power 106

Power 106 use to be one of my favorite radio stations and I liked them because they played a mixture of old school and newschool and they also had. A mixture of dj’s from black white Mexican whatever now it seems since big boy and the neighborhood has left the scene the radio station has turned into a predominantly Hispanic radio station tending more to there likings and they also stopped playing old school music :(sorry power 106 I am no racist but I don’t like the new power 106 and I will not continue to be a listener

I live in Temecula and we still listen to Power 106. We love the J Cruz Show!!! listen every morning and I especially get a kick out of «are you down». Thanks for the laughs guys!!! Keep up the good work. :)

If u could give no stars i would. Cruz show in the morning is just terrible, especially that «are you down» segment holy shit HORRIBLE. I would rather them be scripted, please do us all a favor and figure something out. Get rid of cruz to start.

OK, guys, I live all the way in San Diego. Power 106 reaches some parts of SD and honestly, I like the music this station plays.
We don’t have a radio station like Power 106 in SD. Majority of the radio stations we have here are Top 40, Country, Rock, and Regional Mexicana.
Now, I am a hip-​hop head; I listen to straight underground shit, but I like the fact that this radio station plays music that makes my morning commute real fun
Yes, I know some of y’all will be saying the music they play ain’t «real hip-​hop» but I don’t give a fuck.
Variety is the spice of life. I listen to all kinds of hip hop, from philosophical poetic shit that makes you think to club bangers that makes you twerk and this radio station definitely specializes in the latter.
So, thanks Power 106, every time I listen to you guys, you make me feel like I’m having a good time in some ghetto ass club

It is funny to read what these lame ass people have to write about The Cruz Show. It is entertainment and if you don’t like it, don’t listen. I am pretty sure you have no idea what each of those individuals on that show had to go through to make it to their current position. If you don’t like it, why don’t you do it, instead of hating. That’s right because you are on Unilocal hating on someone else’s success while you have no talent.
Big Boy decided to leave and betray his family at Power 106 and these individuals had to step up and take over after he betrayed the people that made him. I’ve been following jcruz and he hustled and worked his way to the top. He wasn’t like big boy, who was only at 1 Station his whole career. J Cruz has been doing this professionally since he was 17, in different markets working his way up. You should probably look at yourself and see why you’re such a hater. Also some facts for you, jcruz has been beating big boy in the ratings, so he’s doing something right. Start appreciating someone that came from nothing and made themselves into something. #thecruzshow #bigfan

Omg what happened! Power 106 is just a shadow of its former self. This was the only station I would listen to. The on air personalities are annoying and a joke, the Cruz Show is Horrible (really, are you down???), the vibe of the station is just not the same.
I had it once they started talking about Caitlyn Jenner and how they support her and blah blah blah… This is a hip hop station!!! Not a lot of support for those kind of people in hip hop yet they try to shove it down your throats that your wrong for not supporting IT and blah blah…
Power 106 hasn’t been the same since the 90’s and early 2000’s. Once the hoochies and ghetto ass people took over, the station went down the toilet.

Because I commute in the mornings, I’ve always listened to what I like to call the trifecta of mainstream morning radio: Ryan Seacrest, Carson Daly, and Big Boy. What makes all three of these radio hosts so great isn’t really that they’re funny, but there’s a kindness in their voices that make you really like them.
Big Boy’s Neighborhood was an excellent mix of humor, news, and music. I listened to him for well over a decade and have heard him make jokes, get choked up after 9/​11, refuse to play R. Kelly and Chris Brown’s music during his show after their debacles… he just seemed like a very genuine person who loved doing radio.
The Cruz Show is the absolute opposite of all of this. I’m sure it’s not a new opinion, but this morning really grated my nerves. First, they claimed they were going to play Dr. Dre’s new album in its entirety, back-​to-​back. Why then, did I only hear 45 seconds of it and then all his old hits from the 90s? Second, they had some stupid contest where listeners had to count how many times a recording of Dr. Dre’s voice was played and whoever guessed the right number won $ 1,000. Fair enough. Why then, did these idiots COUNT each time they played the voice? Doesn’t that dismiss the entire point of letting listeners count themselves?
Finally, and I don’t know the other hosts’ names, but the female mentioned her niece’s or cousin’s 18^th birthday, and the comments that followed were downright disgusting. The men on the show were like, «Oh 18 years old, she’s legal! Yeeeaaah Madison give me a call!» and one of them even said something about pulling down her pants. How this stupid woman didn’t get mad at these bozos is beyond me for being so inappropriate and gross.
Then again, these people are super low class. Did they graduate from high school? Probably not. Did they attend college at some point? Maybe a class or two at Valley College? Who knows. They’re ghetto and I hate that they’re what represents Power 106 now.

I like the Cruz show in the morning everyone is talking bad about it but I like it don’t see anything wrong with it. I think Cruz is funny yea big boy was better but oh well he left.

I miss big boy neighborhood. Cruz show totally sucks, and sometimes it repeats. Are you down is super lame, how is it that everytime they call the person they wanna prank, they pick up right away every time after the first ring? Repeats the same song one after another, generic as hell. Only thing I like about the show is the gorgeous voice of Krystal Bee. Ryan seacrest iheartradio is way better, unfortunately I had to switch because power 106 made me sick of hip hop.

All I have to say is «the Cruz Show» does suck balls!!! seems like they put Cruz there just to fail and he’s doing that very easily. «Are you down»?? That’s the stupidest shit every, it’s a waste of my time, life, car battery, etc!!! Idiot (Cruz) sound like he’s reading a script and not live… Power 106 should just stick with crystal and E-​man and they’ll do much better and they’ll get their rating back up to a top radio station not bottom 10 which they are now!

Fuck you power 106, you don’t give money away, $ 1000 every hour but all we have to do is text CRUZ but get charged you’re making money off of that not giving away money stupid

Fxxx The Jcruz morning show bunch of liars. I won 9^th row ticket at ixtapa cantina on cinco de mayo for powerhouse. At the time of pick up i get some wack ass nosebleeds section 401 seats. Homegirl in the front with purple hair rude ass fxxx on the phone while helping me out. F#x= Power 106. Shit is wack since Titos top 4 at 4 been canceled. Liars liars liars.

Okay seriously power 106 get some new sound effects been hearing the same annoying horn and annoying noises «it’s Friday» «air horn» so annoying. Your DJs sound soo ghetto and are so repetitive and annoying I can’t stand listening to them for ten seconds. You play the same songs over and over. THIS STATION SUCKS

I feel really bad writing this because it is someones career but honestly the Cruz Show Sucks. It’s really boring and hes not funny. Maybe it’s just because he’s new to the morning show or I am used to Big Boy’s funny remarks but it is so lame and boring.

This review is solely based on interactions I’ve had with the Power 106 trucks at different events. This one is particularly about the event at LA Bacon Fest.
During the L.A. Bacon Festival, Power 106 TORE IT UP! Teddy, was so funny with all his shout outs, and the music was truly bumpin’! What would’ve been a very chill food fest, turned into a crazy energy packed «power» house with dancing, head bouncing, toe tapping, cheering, and dance competitions! The DJ changed the music often enough so that people didn’t get bored, and the crowd was HUGE!!! Everyone loved it! Forget all the other music trucks out there! Even if you’re not a hip hop fan, you’ll be sure to find the life of the party around the Power 106 truck!

Nothing like Big Boy’s Phone Tap with Luther! Most of those were pretty funny.
Used to listen to power every morning on the way to work. Now Im signing up for SiriusXM because there aint shit on the radio anymore!

Maybe it’s because I’m getting older and have completely given up on the mainstream media entirely (haven’t listened to modern mainstream media [went the indie route] for almost 5 years now) but there is just something about this station in where it has lost its touch. I remembered when this station used to play a whole lot of Hip Hop/​Rap content. Now, they seem to have gone more along the Pop route to try to cater to a different crowd.
I wouldn’t think that it would be Power 106’s fault for going down that route neither because today’s MAINSTREAM rap is atrocious and I will never understand why people support it or why people say it sucks yet they listen to it anyways because they think they don’t have any alternatives. It IS possible to listen to some good rap made my modern artists; you just have to get off your lazy bums and search for it yourself because you sure as hell won’t find them in any mainstream radio station.
Power 106, it is safe to say that you have seen better days. You have sold out to a different crowd and I can’t respect a radio station that has sold out. It is time for me to move on as I have given up on FM completely and will now switch to a mobile phone from now on.
UPDATE 1÷24÷16: I kept to my promise since the review. I have not once touched the FM dial since the review and have been using my phone since. I don’t miss the way FM radio chopped and censored songs, I don’t miss listening to DJ’s, I don’t miss commercials, and best of all I don’t miss listening to the same content over and over and over again. The transition was not as painful as I thought it would be and it ended up becoming a change for the better.

They say on the radio they are giving away tickets to the forth row valentine’s crush I Won a pair of tickets at 130 pm come to find out when I get all excited and come down here for my tickets they give me row 25 in the nose bleed I asked about my forth row tickets I supposedly won and they say «no we only give them out in the early morning» I’m like wtf you guys don’t say that on the radio you just hype that shit up so ppl can listen to your station if you ask me it’s a bunch of bull shit just hyping ppl up for bull shit
Power 106 in all its glory is nothing but a piece of shit busting the bait and switch techniques of a chump ass small time radio station that’s why big boy is leaving there ass there is better paying jobs out there caught themselves trying to sue him for some lame ass shit I’m glad he is leaving he can do better some were else
