I’ll never go back. I went to their Orange County location and unless they magically change their attitudes in Burbank, it’s a no go situation. They don’t mention the additional licensing and livescan fees when you talk to them, so they’ll probably tell you that it’s only $ 50 for the guard card, but the add ons will have you at over $ 100, and that doesn’t include the fees that you pay directly to the state. Right above these reviews it says military discount. I’m prior military and showed Kathy my ID and her response was, «I don’t know anything about that.» More fun stuff: I went back to get my 10% military discount because of course Jim charged me full price. His first response was that I wasn’t entitled to one because it was for active duty only, even though on the website it says for ‘transitioning veterans.’ I’m a transitioning veteran, I’m still on crutches from injuries sustained on active duty and he told me I don’t qualify. Finally he went to the website (his own website), and acknowledged that he was wrong, and that he ought to change the wording on the website. He claimed that the 10% was only for the training, which was $ 130, leaving the rest of the $ 170 to range time and gun rentals that he doesn’t pay for, (I checked with the clerks at Firing Line Huntington Beach). So basically he charges an extra $ 40 for a bag of ammo that runs about $ 18. The funny thing is that in terms of the 10% discount, that adds up to $ 4. Seriously, this is a worthless company. The ‘training’ is all on VHS. I was left alone with a pistol and 50 rounds of ammo for the ‘qualification,’ and he didn’t check the target. Later that day, another unsupervised shooter shot the target wire because he was basically firing blind and endangering other people. Can’t blame the shooter, he had no experience. As far as factual information on the website, there really isn’t any. The ‘pepper spray qualification’ doesn’t exist. And he names off prices without listing the additional fees of livescan and state fees. And I know he’ll probably rant on in his owner’s response saying I wasn’t paying attention, so check this out. Just to be sure I asked him about both over the phone before the course and he said they were covered by the $ 170. He’s a liar and he doesn’t actually do anything to teach the course. The whole time he’s on a bluetooth talking to people and selling them on how great the course is. And don’t read this and hear his spin and think that he’ll get you a job from his ‘references.’ His references are year-​old craigslist adds for minimum wage security guards stapled to a bulletin board. That was the one selling point aside from the price that I actually cared about. So I’m 0 for 2. In conclusion if you want to be lied to, sit through some worthless training videos, and basically get scammed, go to AKI. If you want an honest alternative that won’t take your money and run, check
